00:00Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro congratulated communes and communal leaders for their record
00:16turnout at Sunday's fourth national public consultation.
00:24Among the Supreme Court of Brazil unanimously confirmed the preventive detention of former
00:28President Jair Bolsonaro due to the repeated violations of precautionary measures.
00:36And the Israeli army killed four Palestinians and left several injured in separate attacks
00:40on civilian areas in the Gaza Strip.
00:47Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from De Leso Studios in Havana,
00:51Cuba.
00:52We'll begin with the news.
01:05Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro highlighted the participation of the Venezuelan people
01:09in the fourth public consultation, 2025.
01:12The Venezuelan President congratulated the community leaders and the record turnout at
01:17the event in which 5,336 communal circuits from across this country participated.
01:23In this regard, Maduro emphasized that the people clearly expressed their power, conscience,
01:28and commitment by choosing their communal projects with the goal of receiving immediate solutions
01:35without intermediaries.
01:36The fourth public consultation was held as part of the seven transformations promoted by the
01:40Exhibit for the Welfare of the Population.
01:43And the Venezuelan government strongly rejected on Monday the new threats and aggression from
01:55the United States government.
01:56In an official statement shared by Foreign Minister Ivan Hill, the Bolivarian government
02:01emphasized it categorically, firmly, and absolutely rejects the new and ridiculous hoax by the Secretary
02:07of State of the United States of America, Marco Rubio, who designates the non-existent cartel
02:12of the Sons as a terrorist organization.
02:15Those repeated an infamous and vowed lie to justify an illegitimate and illegal intervention
02:20against Venezuela, one of the classic U.S. format of regime change.
02:24Moreover, Caracas assured this new maneuver will follow the fate of previous and recurring
02:28attacks against our country, failure adding that the Venezuelan people are more united and
02:34cohesive than ever before, attending to national life in all its dimensions and looking forward
02:40to the Christmas festivities.
02:42The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela does urge the U.S. government to rectify this erratic
02:46policy of aggression and threats, which is strongly rejected by the U.S. people themselves, affects
02:52the development of the Korean peoples, and in no way contributes to a true and genuine fight
02:57against illicit drug trafficking.
03:19Regarding Venezuela's situation in the face of constant threats from the United States,
03:23Mexican President Clara Sheinbaum spoke out against interference and interventionism and in favor
03:29of self-determination for peoples as well as the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
03:34You know our opinion, and also the constitutional opinion, because that is what our Constitution
03:42says. We will always be in favor of self-determination for peoples' peaceful resolution of any conflict
03:48and non-interference and non-intervention. We do not agree with that. Therefore, dialogue
03:54and peace must always guide us.
04:00And on Sunday, from the port of Veracruz, Mexican President Clara Sheinbaum called the people
04:05to be alert to defend the integrity of the nation against any attempt at foreign interference.
04:10During her speech at the ceremony commemorating 200 years of Mexican independence, the head of
04:15state noted that conservative sectors of the country have historically resorted to seeking
04:20support beyond their borders. There is a goal that in recent months, conservative sectors
04:24in Mexico and the United States have been pressuring for what they call a more aggressive response
04:29to drug trafficking. In this scenario, the President took advantage of a historical recount to point
04:34out that interventionist aspirations have been part of the strategy of certain political sectors
04:38in the country.
04:39Our history shows that the struggle for sovereignty, independence, justice, and equality is ongoing.
04:54It never ends. Let us remember the U.S. invasion of 1846 to 1847, which took half of our territory,
05:07and figures such as Ignacio Lopez de Santa Ana, who even after his cowardly leadership during
05:12that period, returned with the support of the conservatives of the time to be crowned emperor.
05:17Let us also remember that there have been many moments in history marked by unpatriotic conservatives
05:23who have promoted foreign invasion.
05:28Four Salvadoran citizens who had been missing since March in the United States were found in the so-called
05:33terrorist detention center, described as a concentration camp of El Salvador's President Nayibuquele.
05:39Human rights organizations have already classified the facility as one of the most dangerous areas in the
05:44sub-region used by the United States to carry out forced disappearances of migrant citizens.
05:50Even Quintanilla, William Martinez, Jose Santos, and Brantz Don Cigarán were illegally expelled,
05:56according to U.S. judges by the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security,
06:01along with more than 200 Venezuelan citizens.
06:03They were accused of belonging to the now defunct Rendaragua, a criminal organization
06:08disbanded by Venezuelan authorities.
06:10Despite the efforts of their families, it was only after the intervention of the Inter-American
06:15Commission on Human Rights that their whereabouts were clarified.
06:18And on Sunday, several Democrat congressmen confirmed that they had sought protection from law enforcement agencies
06:30after receiving death threats following accusations of sedition by U.S. President Donald Trump.
06:35According to statements made to various media outlets, some legislators have filed criminal complaints
06:40because they and their families have received death and bomb threats after President Donald Trump
06:45arbitrarily charged them with the crime of sedition.
06:48This happened after several Democrat lawmakers urged members of the armed forces to not obey legal orders
06:54in reference to deployment of military contingents in several states of the country
06:58and in the Caribbean, especially off the coast of Venezuela.
07:01In this scenario, the head of state suggested that these congressmen should be executed, hanged or arrested.
07:14And Ukrainian and U.S. officials report significant progress this Sunday in Geneva
07:19during negotiations on a possible peace deal.
07:22The controversial U.S. plan to end the war was discussed by Ukraine and the United States
07:27in the presence of Germany, France and the United Kingdom.
07:29Kyiv's counterproposal, backed by its European partners, provides for preserving the Army
07:35and a special Article 5 which stipulates that an attack against Kyiv would be considered
07:40an attack against all NATO members.
07:42This proposal represents a significant change to the one supported by President Donald Trump.
07:47Controversy has surrounded the Washington texts as the head of U.S. Diplomacy is reported
07:53to have commented in a congressional session that Russia was behind its drafting.

08:17Welcome back.
08:34On Monday, the Supreme Court of Brazil unanimously confirmed the preventive detention of former
08:38President Jair Bolsonaro due to the repeated violations of precautionary measures.
08:43Prime Minister Alexander de Moraes, Flavio Dino, Cristiano Zanin and Carmen Lucia voted in
08:49favor of maintaining the detention.
08:51In this regard, Minister de Moraes cited the flight risk and the violation of the electronic
08:56ankle bracelet as reasons for the decision.
08:59In addition, the Minister reiterated that there is no doubt about the need to convert house
09:05arrests into preventive detention, citing the need to guarantee public order and ensure
09:10the application of criminal law.
09:11Bolsonaro has been detained at the Federal Police Headquarters in Brasilia since Saturday
09:17after the identification of a flight risk.
09:28On Sunday, Colombian authorities reported the rescue of 17 minors linked to the Orthodox
09:33Jewish sect Lef Tahor in Antioquia, in the northwest of the country.
09:37The Colombian authorities indicated that there were international alerts for possible crimes
09:41committed against children within this community.
09:44They also stated that some of the minors may have been kidnapped, which would open up the
09:49possibility of a case of human trafficking under religious protection.
09:53Lef Tahor, founded in the 1980s, has been investigated in several countries.
09:58In September 2024, more than 160 children linked to the cult were rescued in Guatemala,
10:04and several of its members are facing legal proceedings for crimes, including human trafficking
10:09and other offences.
10:11In Honduras, thousands attended the campaign close in the event of Risi Moncala, a presidential
10:21candidate of the Libre Party.
10:23In Tegucigalpa, Moncala called on citizens to defend their vote and democracy, warning that
10:28opposition sectors have control over the preliminary electoral results transmission system, which
10:33will be used in the elections on November 30, raising concerns that the system may be hacked.
10:39Let's see.
10:41The National Engineers Coliseum in the Honduran capital was filled with an energetic atmosphere,
10:48as thousands of capital residents arrived on their own to attend Risi Moncala's campaign
10:52closing event.
10:54From early on, the venue began to fill with vibrant colors, applause, and citizen enthusiasm.
11:02Hundreds of buses are on their way, they say there's no more room inside, but we are
11:06ready with screens outside to accommodate everyone, we are prepared to have a civic celebration.
11:14And this is a demonstration of strength, let the bipartisanship see, let the oligarchs
11:18see, that Libre is and will always be part of the Honduran people.
11:24Of course, we're all ready, this one wins, no one can take it away, it's impossible for
11:30us to lose, just look at the number of people, and this is just a small portion 10, 15 people
11:35from each neighborhood, imagine if we all showed up.
11:38The human warmth was felt in every corner, young people, women, workers, and entire families
11:48raising flags and chanting the name of the presidential candidate from Libre.
11:52The Coliseum became a meeting point for collective hope, where it is expected that the project
11:57of national refoundation will continue.
12:01Well, the youth who, under President Xiomara Castro's government, have benefited from projects
12:08like the 90 sports fields nationwide, the four hybrid grass stadiums, and scholarships, must
12:14confirm on November 30, that these supports continue.
12:18Only Libre, with Rixi Moncada, guarantees the continuation of the refoundation.
12:22The universal scholarship for all Honduran youth, eliminating the risk center so young people
12:27are no longer seen as criminals, and ensuring they can access credit.
12:31This is the government of Libre, this is the government of President Xiomara Castro, and
12:36Rixi Moncada will continue it.
12:44The Liberty and Re-Foundation Party, is the party that has grown the most, first, because
12:55of the great government led by President Xiomara Castro, with the largest social and public investment
13:00in the history of our country.
13:07Second, because we have the best candidate, the lawyer, the professor, the one who knows
13:12public administration, the one who has demonstrated in every step of her career in high-level positions
13:17of state responsibility, a true commitment to the people.
13:28The chants, the music, and the smiles created a festive atmosphere where the true protagonist
13:33was the people.
13:34Every face reflected conviction and the emotion of being part of a moment, that, for many,
13:39marks a before and after.
13:41Yes, that's right, yesterday we were in San Pedro Sula, an incredible show of support,
13:49and of course, Teguchi Gaoka with the campaign closing that brought together more than 33 mobilizations,
13:55and important gatherings.
13:56These events clearly demonstrate that the only party with organizational capacity, and mobilization
14:01power, is Liber.
14:09Always prepared and with constant struggle to overcome and move forward, our territory needs
14:13a president like Rixi Moncada, and with her.
14:18The continuation of the re-foundation of the homeland, which has been completely abandoned
14:22for years.
14:29With overflowing energy, the people accompanied Rixi with a strength that transcended the stage,
14:33and became a shared sentiment.
14:40Also Sunday, Honduran President Xiomara Castro arrived in Mexico to begin an official visit
14:50and meet with her counterpart, Claudia Chainbound.
14:52This is the Honduran President's second visit to Mexico since she attended the inauguration
14:57of her counterpart on October 1, 2024.
15:00During her stay, the two heads of states are expected to address key issues on the bilateral
15:04agenda, such as migration, economic cooperation, regional development, and environmental challenges
15:11affecting both countries.
15:13According to the Foreign Ministry, Mexico and Honduras seek to strengthen common goals focused
15:19on cooperation, development, and coordinated actions in the region, issues that will be
15:24discussed in detail during the high-level meeting.
15:35On Monday, Spain's Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, resigned after the Supreme Court
15:40found him responsible for leaking the tax fraud confession of the partner of the President
15:45of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso.
15:48In a letter, the prosecutor stated that his decision came from profound respect for judicial
15:52rulings and claimed to have served with loyalty and a commitment to public service.
15:57His departure leaves uncertainty as to who will definitively assume the headship of the
16:02prosecutor's office, while responsibility temporarily falls to the deputy prosecutor of the Supreme
16:07Court, María Ángeles Sánchez Conde.
16:10The ruling, which includes two years of this qualification and a financial fine, keeps the prosecutor's
16:14career in suspense while the full text of the ruling is awaited.

16:56China denounced Japan's plans to deploy missiles on an island near Taiwan.
17:01Foreign Minister Spokeswoman Maonin says the plan is a deliberate attempt to create regional
17:05tension and trigger a military confrontation.
17:09Coupled with Prime Minister Sunetakaichi's erroneous remarks on Taiwan, this trend is extremely dangerous
17:26and warrants high vigilance from neighboring countries and the international community.
17:30On Sunday in China, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Regional Authorities announced the immediate
17:39suspension of all official contacts with the Consulate General of Japan, as well as the
17:43cancellation of a student exchange program.
17:45The decision comes after the Japanese government issued statements suggesting the possible use
17:49of force in the event of tensions related to Taiwan.
17:52These statements were considered by the Hong Kong authorities to be interferential and a source
17:57of regional uncertainty.
18:00The measure also includes the suspension of economic forums and high-level meetings, as well
18:04as new security alerts and adjustments to educational programs.
18:08The Hong Kong government also reported that it will evaluate new restrictions if external pressure
18:13on Taiwan intensifies.

19:09two years of continuous attacks.
19:21Also Monday, thousands of Lebanese marched in the city of Beirut to condemn Israel's ongoing
19:25aggression against the country.
19:27Protesters gathered in Hamra Street in the capital to denounce U.S. interference in the
19:31country's affairs and to reject the violation of the agreement reached with Israel in 2024.
19:36The participants reaffirmed their right to resistance by raising their voices against
19:40Israel's aggression and violation and warned of the real danger of occupation.
19:44In regard, they emphasized that the armed struggle of the resistance is the main shield of sovereignty
19:50in the country.
19:51Let's recall that the protests followed an Israeli airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut
19:58on Sunday that killed Hezbollah senior commander Haitham Ali Tabatabai along with several other people.
20:04On Monday, Egyptians voted in the second phase of parliamentary elections as authorities
20:17announced the first round results in about two dozen constituencies over alleged violations.

20:27and the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria.
20:30Regarding this first round, there were widespread reports of violations, prompting President
20:34Abdel Fatal Sisi to order a review of the incidents.
20:37A total of 568 seats in the lower chamber are up for grabs, with over 2,500 candidates running
20:44as independents, and with the new parliament set to be sworn in before the current chamber's
20:49term expires in January.
20:51In Guinea-Bissau, the vote count is underweight following the presidential legislative elections
21:04held on Sunday.
21:05In this scenario, President Umaru Sissoko Mbalo is seeking a second term.
21:10Mbalo, a former army general, came to power in 2021 and has the backing of a political coalition
21:15of more than 20 groups.
21:16If he wins, Mbalo would become the first president in three decades to achieve re-election in
21:21Guinea-Bissau.
21:22There are 12 candidates competing in the election, and to win, a candidate needs more than 50%
21:27of the votes.
21:28Otherwise, a run-off election will be held.
21:30Let's recall that the election process is taking place amid tensions caused by multiple
21:34coup attempts in the country.
