00:00Gang, welcome to the show, man.
00:08We got a great one today for a couple of reasons.
00:10I mean, one, because me and Willie are here.
00:12Sure.
00:13But two, when is the last time you've
00:15ever seen a Dodge Stealth get stuffed with a Hellcat
00:18red eye?
00:19Anyway, in the show, at American Meadow Customs,
00:22drinking some whiskey.
00:23What?
00:30All right, step into crazy town over here.
00:33We got a buddy with a 95 Dodge Stealth.
00:36Now, these things came back in the day pretty wimpy, right?
00:38Yeah, way wimpy.
00:40I think, you know, 6-cylinder, 190 horsepower,
00:42somewhere in that ballpark.
00:43164.
00:44Oh, my god.
00:45Front wheel drive, 164.
00:46But in an epiphany, right, or some vision or dream he had,
00:50which some people might call it a intoxicated stupor.
00:53Yeah, a nightmare.
00:54He said, man, what if we grafted in a charger?
00:57You know, and in the V6, we could put some turbos on it
01:01in here and make it a rear-wheel drive car.
01:02And we said, well.
01:03Well, then we kind of ragged on him for a while.
01:05Like, why would you do all this work for a 6-cylinder?
01:08Exactly.
01:08We could put a V8 in there.
01:09Yeah, yeah.
01:10And somehow, boom, it's a Hellcat red eye engine,
01:13797 horsepower, 707 foot-pounds of torque.
01:17In this.
01:18All right?
01:18Yeah, in that.
01:19It's all powered by this 2.7 liter supercharger.
01:22That's an upgrade from the 2.4 that normally came on the Hellcat.
01:26That's a big girl ready to park.
01:28It's going to be a challenge.
01:29Yeah.
01:30So we're going to get out our torches, our pry bars, our wedges,
01:33our big sledgehammers.
01:34Our cutting wheels.
01:35Whew.
01:36Because we've got to get a whole tunnel plow through the back
01:39and eventually work our way to the rear end
01:41to set up some kind of 4 to 9 inch or whatever
01:44to handle this much power.
01:50Obviously, we try to upgrade everything with ARP bulks,
01:53everything that we can because it's just a better bolt.
01:56You guys know the drill, right?
01:57They're through-hardened, not just case-hardened.
02:00Makes them like 20% stronger than, say, grade 8 bolts.
02:04Big thing.
02:04Made in America.
02:06Little keynote.
02:06We've told you this before.
02:07Whenever you're using just some metal, stainless steel
02:10bolt into aluminum housing, always good to put some lubricant
02:14on there, some anti-seize, because that way, when that corrosion
02:17starts, you're still going to be able to twist that bolt years
02:19down the road.
02:22You know, before we get too far in this wild and crazy journey
02:25of making space, we want to make sure
02:27that we've got a plan for all the different aspects
02:29of the project, one of which is wiring,
02:31because that could be a giant just pain in the neck.
02:34Look, let me show you the old.
02:36So this is the old engine wiring harness.
02:39Now, that thing is a behemoth.
02:41Instead of spending forever today trying
02:43to back splice things out that you're not going to use,
02:46we went to Hotwire Auto.
02:47And these guys are awesome.
02:49We've been to them on a number of projects, man.
02:51And they make everything easy.
02:53Here's the new harness plug and play.
02:55It's very OE. All the connectors.
02:57Everything is shielded.
02:59And the transmission unit, which they have, this was great.
03:02They flashed that.
03:03So it already has a tune for you.
03:05So now the transmission and the engine
03:07are talking to each other.
03:09And here's what they did with the old body harness.
03:11All right, you've seen these before.
03:13They take it.
03:13They strip everything away that you don't need.
03:15They put it on a big diet, right?
03:17And they'll add things like Speedo, right?
03:20Or even, you know, a tack in this case.
03:22Now we're going to do a quick dry fit.
03:25Just see how this thing is going to lay out.
03:26But we'll strip it back off because we're
03:28going to just do a whole bunch of wrestling and fighting,
03:30getting this thing in, out, cutting holes back in again
03:33and so forth.
03:35This looks pretty good, cuz.
03:36Pretty good.
03:37You did it laying in clean.
03:38Yeah.
03:39I like it.
03:39You can see how it lays in here.
03:40I think most of it's all going to be hidden.
03:42Good to see you got this all buttoned up because I, I got to go.
03:46I know you knew I was leaving today just a little earlier.
03:48I've been summoned through the coolest, like, honest to God,
03:51it's American Metal Customs.
03:53Coolest custom shop in the country, bro.
03:54Gotta roll.
03:55Woo!
03:56And apparently he's out the door, so we're
03:58going to take a quick break.
04:00I suggest you come back and follow him,
04:02because that's going to be an awesome adventure.
04:04We just better come back with some of that whiskey.
04:34All right, get ready.
04:39If you just woke up, you might want to pinch yourself.
04:42But I'm telling you, this is one of the coolest,
04:43most unbelievable facilities in the country.
04:46It's called American Metal Customs.
04:50Go find it, Google it, look it up.
04:51My man, Josh, right here, he's running this joint,
04:54and it is amazing.
04:55These bikes right out the gate, man.
04:57Thanks, man.
04:58Thanks for making the trip.
04:59Yeah, man.
05:00Appreciate it.
05:00Appreciate the invite.
05:02So big showroom, cool cars, crazy bikes,
05:05and you're just seeing the tip of the iceberg here.
05:07These things, attention to detail is .
05:10Instead of buying parts and bolting them on,
05:12you've got to separate yourself, right?
05:13So you've got to build a metal shape,
05:14you've got to build a TIG weld, and that's kind of what
05:16you see here.
05:17These bikes are completely handcrafted from the ground up.
05:19But not only that, you've got two vintage knucklehead
05:22motors in here.
05:23So you take that history, and you take this custom world,
05:26and I merge it with my style, and this is what you come up
05:28with, man.
05:29And so we have Zayden, and then this is Disciple.
05:32And this bike's really cool, which we'll get into later,
05:34man.
05:34Yeah, man.
05:35This bike actually is a part of our whiskey
05:37in the sonic fusion process.
05:38Wait till you guys see this.
05:40Like I said, tip of the iceberg.
05:42You want a tour?
05:42You're going to get that.
05:43You want to see some cool builds?
05:44You're definitely going to see that.
05:45Oh, yeah.
05:46And at the end of this, a little something
05:48to possibly quench your thirst.
05:49Let's get into it.
05:58All right, you guys.
05:59You saw a lot of the flossy and glossy in that room.
06:01But in this room, it really comes through the grit,
06:04the grind, and the creativity.
06:06This is where it all happens.
06:07Yeah, man.
06:07All right, man.
06:08Walk us through on what's going on.
06:09This shop is massive.
06:11Yeah, man.
06:11So this isn't just a shop, but it's
06:13a one-stop shop for all your custom restoration,
06:16hot rod, bike, anything you can dream up,
06:19we can make it happen here.
06:20From bikes to street rods to muscle cars,
06:22they do it all.
06:23Everything, man.
06:23So what we specialize in here is high-end metal shaping,
06:27custom fabrication.
06:28We have a whole custom paint sector.
06:30We have an in-house interior shop, mechanics bay, storage,
06:34detailing, anything you want, man, we can make it happen here.
06:37Anything you want, they can make right here.
06:40Yeah.
06:41So come check this out, man.
06:42So this is very unique.
06:43We have our own in-house interior shop.
06:46This is led up by Brian and his wife, Lynn.
06:48They've been doing this most of their lives.
06:50And I mean, everything in here is handcrafted.
06:53You can see the sewing machines over there, custom hands,
06:56stitches, all the leather translate
06:58into these beautiful seats, man.
07:00And this is a very special project we've been working on.
07:02Yeah, what we got here?
07:03This is a 1934 Ford.
07:05This is called the Keating Project.
07:06They've had it in their family for 46 years.
07:08And me and Ralph had, you know, very lucky to be able to go pull
07:12that out of the garage, bring it into this.
07:14And now what you see is the handcrafted interior.
07:16Yeah, this is a generational car.
07:18It's absolutely going to go from, you know,
07:20one set of owners, the dad or the grandparents, to the next set,
07:24which is, you know, the son or his kid.
07:26Yeah.
07:27How cool is that?
07:28And again, just one of the several sort of ways that they go above and beyond.
07:32I mean, tethered to an amazing fab shop, paint shop, right?
07:36You have this interior shop that a lot of people would send their vehicle off to.
07:40But here, it's all underneath one roof.
07:42And like I said, just the tip of the iceberg, more to see what's next.
07:45Let's go look at the fab shop.
07:46You know, most people wouldn't take a 54 Cadillac and do something crazy exotic with it,
07:55unless you have a shop like this in your backyard.
07:58Now, right out the gate, man, this subtle, right?
08:02Subtle is the word you see used a lot of times to describe fantastic work, right?
08:08This little subtle peak you put here on the hood,
08:11these little subtle peaks here on the fenders,
08:13that just takes that Cadillac and, well, dust it off and screams performance.
08:18I'm dying to know what's under the hood because the way this car looks, it's got to be fast.
08:23Yeah, this is about as custom as it gets.
08:24Not only do we have all the sheet metal modifications,
08:27but this is a full bag roadster shop chassis.
08:30And underneath it, we have an LSX motor, man.
08:33This thing is pushing some crazy horsepower, man.
08:37Again, look at the attention to detail.
08:39I just want to point out something.
08:40On top of the supercharger, you got this cool little peak, right?
08:43Over here, look how they've done the valve covers, right?
08:46To accentuate AC pump or alternator.
08:48Back over here, the plug wires, right, get hidden here.
08:51That's all like crazy metal work.
08:53Just time, dedication, and a little attention to detail.
08:57That is not subtle.
08:58That is dope.
08:59When this car comes out, we're wanting to break the internet with this one, man.
09:02Yeah, man.
09:03It's going to be a sick ride, but one of many here.
09:05You got another one you want to show us?
09:06Or maybe something with two wheels?
09:08Yeah.
09:08You want to talk about some bikes?
09:09Yeah, man.
09:10What do you got?
09:10Let's do it.
09:18This is one of the sickest bikes I've ever seen.
09:20Thank you, man.
09:20And I got to imagine you start here.
09:23Yeah.
09:23The tank sets everything to me.
09:25Yeah, it's the heart.
09:26It sets the lines.
09:27It sets the style.
09:28And then I base every part after that off that.
09:31It's got a flag.
09:32It's got a cool knife in here.
09:33What's this bike going for?
09:34So this is for the Oscar Mike Foundation.
09:36And it also represents 250 years of service.
09:39This is the military's birthday this year.
09:41And then what's going to happen is this will go to the Oscar Mike Foundation.
09:45And they can do whatever they want with it.
09:46But it's to raise awareness, to raise money for their new facility.
09:50And once again, celebrate our heroes out there, man.
09:53Yeah, man.
09:53The true heroes out there.
09:55For real.
09:55Our veterans.
09:56And what a classic offering this is.
09:59Such a cool bike.
10:00Just aesthetically.
10:01But when you really dig down deep.
10:04Man, so many points.
10:05So many just customized parts of it, man.
10:09This is actually the handle of the sword that became the shifter.
10:12This is the blade of it.
10:13And then over here, that's the handguard that I incorporated into the air cleaner
10:17to get this sword on here.
10:18So that, you know, hopefully I don't disappoint these guys.
10:22No disappointment here at all.
10:24This thing is beautiful.
10:25Thanks, man.
10:26I got to tell you, man, all this work is kind of making me thirsty.
10:39All right, we've found a, well, a place in the shop that's just amazing.
10:43Yeah, see, American Metal Customs is more than just a hot ride and bike shop.
10:47I oftentimes say the dream is free, but the hustle is sold separately.
10:52And whenever you find the hustle that these guys have,
10:55there's got to be another person behind it.
10:57So Josh, you alluded to what you do with running all the shops with all the cars
11:01and the bikes and all these crazy cool builds.
11:03Yeah.
11:04All right, who's right here standing beside you?
11:07So this is Chris Bishop, man.
11:09This is a co-founder with me.
11:11We met, you know, almost five years ago.
11:13Put our heads together and out of passion created all this.
11:15And so this is the owner and the dude that, you know, we make all this happen.
11:20He helps with that dream and that hustle.
11:22So I got to ask, man, the whiskey is, wow, you're talking about setting yourself above and beyond
11:28what most hot rod or restoration shops have.
11:30And you went, you took the same quality that you have in all these custom builds and bikes,
11:36and you put that into your whiskey.
11:38Yeah.
11:39I mean, it's non-typical that, you know, people go and enjoy their custom car, custom motorcycle,
11:46or even, you know, just a car that they, you know, wrenched on, enjoy it,
11:51and then go have a little bit of a sipper and have the smoke.
11:53So it made a ton of sense.
11:55And that's what Josh and I do on a regular basis.
11:57We live this.
11:58It's not half-assed stuff.
11:59I mean, this is part of what we do.
12:02And that brings the authenticity to our whiskey company here.
12:05Yeah, and they did something really unique.
12:07They actually have a patent on this process.
12:10So tell me about the Sonic Infusion, because this really makes your whiskey stand out above
12:15and beyond what most whiskeys can do.
12:17Yeah, very true.
12:18So Sonic Infusion.
12:20What we did is we recorded the revving sound of one of Josh's amazing custom motorcycles,
12:26called the Disciple, multiple angles, a professional engineer.
12:30We take that revving sound and we play it with a waterproof speaker within the juice of the barrel
12:34for four to six months, and you get the effect of Sonic Infusion.
12:39And one of the greatest things about it is you can taste the before, 90-proof Tennessee straight,
12:44and the after.
12:45Incredible, right?
12:46Yeah, because what's happening is that that sound, right, creates this frequency,
12:51which moves the liquid in the cask.
12:54So that constant vibration, that Sonic Infusion, it really does provide a unique taste to the whiskey.
13:02Your whiskey is infused by horsepower and hot rods.
13:06Oh, it's incredibly important and new, but also it's a great connector with authenticity,
13:11with a custom shop, because the custom shop is everything behind the whiskey.
13:16It's not just brown liquid.
13:17Yeah, that same craft, huh?
13:18All that passion with the team, everything we do out there goes right into that bottle.
13:22Right, the same enthusiasm, craftsmanship, and hard work, and attention to detail.
13:28You took that from your cars and your bike bills and applied that into your whiskey, right?
13:33Yeah.
13:33Really cool, really neat.
13:34You can see that in the labels, everything we do, man.
13:36Yeah.
13:37And there's also, there's nobody out there that has a whiskey specifically for people that love
13:42cars and motorcycles, and we're there.
13:44There is now.
13:45Exactly, and it's about time.
13:48I can't wait to try some of it.
13:49However, there is some hot rods downstairs.
13:53Yeah, I want to go for a rip.
13:55Yeah.
13:55That's what I'm hoping.
13:56Okay, I love you.
14:00Hey, you're not driving, you can go.
14:01I'll be right back, because I am going to drive and I'm going to enjoy it.
14:07Let's do it.
14:08Yeah.
14:09All right.
14:23I'm down to the wind car.
14:44Oh, I'm not happy at all.
14:48This is me.
14:49Dude, my friends would flip driving a wind car, man.
15:08It's amazing when you get to drive your dream.
15:10I got to tell you, man, the only thing that puts icing on that cake is, I guess, whiskey.
15:16Hey, thanks for letting me drive and get behind the wheel with some of those amazing rides.
15:18Hey, thanks for coming.
15:19I got to tell you, man, you build some amazing stuff, bro.
15:23You ought to be really proud.
15:25Thank you, man.
15:26The two of you ought to be really proud of what you created here.
15:28It takes a team, man.
15:29It takes an army.
15:29It does.
15:30It really does, man.
15:31And we're going to celebrate with you guys, American Metal Customs.
15:35Here is their non-infused whiskey.
15:38This one is infused.
15:40What's it infused with?
15:41Horsepower, RPMs, with all the good stuff.
15:44But I want to sample both of them.
15:46So you mind if I go ahead and give her a shot?
15:47Yeah, please.
15:48All right, man.
15:49A little toast.
15:50Cheers.
15:50Yeah.
15:50Here's the hot rising horsepower, baby.
15:52Yes, sir.
15:58I mean, I like the non-infused.
16:00I'm anxious to taste the other one.
16:02All right, so.
16:02Cheers, fellas again.
16:04Cheers, cheers.
16:04Yeah, man.
16:05Wow, that's crazy different.
16:11Awesome.
16:12Whoa.
16:14That's wild, man.
16:16That's a, it's a very different taste.
16:18It's a lot smoother here.
16:19Yeah, that's what we get a lot.
16:20It is here.
16:21It's crazy.
16:22I want both of them again.
16:23Hold on.
16:23Oh, man.
16:26Time to throw it up.
16:26Good day, gentlemen.
16:27Dude, excellent day.
16:28Thanks for making the trip, man.
16:29We appreciate it.
16:30Thanks so much, man.
16:30Appreciate you guys.
16:32All right, unfortunately, we gotta go back to the, back to the shop.
16:35Um, I may be, well, I may take some time getting there.
16:39I'm just letting you know.
16:40Kevin, good luck.
16:43Love it.
16:45That's good, man.
16:46We have a car.
17:01We have a car again.
17:04I hope it makes you really happy.
17:06It really does make me really happy.
17:08We are beyond grateful for you and your team.
17:13It just takes that one person that believes in you, man.
17:20You know, when you don't have nobody.
17:21You know, I'm 49 days sober today.
17:23You know, I learned from a man one time, you don't lose the time.
17:27You just change the date.
17:28And I'm going to live my life by that, man.
17:30It's been my wake-up call on a day-in, day-out basis.
17:32And what keeps me going is just seeing him and knowing I want to give him something better than I had.
17:37Sometimes it's just one person giving that one sentence, that one hello, that one
17:41encouragement, right, whatever that is.
17:44We, everybody from Louisville Foundation, we know you can do it, man.
17:49Thank you, man.
17:50I won't let you guys down.
17:53I'm sorry.
17:54I'm on cloud nine right now.
17:55I know you are.
17:55I just can't believe this is going on.
17:57I know.
17:58Now, you know, we spoke with a bunch of owners when we were gifted cars.
18:01And one of the things about it, Matt, is, you know, I live in the middle of nowhere.
18:05Just basically a motel for mice out back.
18:09I have a lot of these cars that sit for a long time.
18:11And how you defend against that, man, boy, Matt here has got all the answers.
18:16So we put a mouse blocker in this thing.
18:18And this is like a daily driver.
18:20Yeah.
18:20I mean, I know it's sitting here.
18:21But daily driver, look at all the wiring harnesses and all the stuff that's exposed.
18:25That's exposed.
18:26That can cause problems.
18:27Where it's the small things that cause big problems.
18:29Yeah.
18:30Nailed that one.
18:31All right.
18:31Let's show you some other spots in the shop and how we really get these cars ready to gift.
18:39We got some sort of leak, right?
18:41And diagnosing leaks, it sounds easy.
18:43You just look for the spot that's bleeding.
18:45But in a lot of these cars, they're so oil-soaked with so much grease, ground, debris.
18:50You really got to get it clean.
18:52And we all know if you got a shop, you work on cars, there's one way to get it clean.
18:56CRC brake clean.
18:58They actually love the Cars for Christmas program.
19:00So we rely on these guys for all kinds of stuff.
19:09Man, when you're hauling, towing, or working your vehicle hard every day,
19:12man, your brakes need to keep up.
19:14And that's where TTX brakes from MevoTech come into play.
19:17All SuperMet Formula pads use MevoTech's mechanical pad locking system that keeps the friction material
19:23firmly secured, even under heavy loads, for consistent, reliable braking.
19:28And we've never seen a more complete kit with everything you need to do the job.
19:32Even the green hanger, the holder on the caliper.
19:34The SuperMet Formula is designed for high payload and working vehicles that need ultimate stopping power.
19:40With corrosion-resistant backing plates and multi-layer shims for quiet operation.
19:45Yeah, TTX brake pads have five different friction formulas so you can match the right formula and brake pad to your vehicle's driving demands.
19:53All right, this is really cool.
19:54Because there's so many ways you can use this out-of-sight Bluetooth receiver on your classic car or your custom build.
20:01You can actually use it with your existing radio or mount it in a hidden location to give your radio Bluetooth capabilities.
20:07Yeah, I love the fact that you can mount this anywhere you want in a custom build and not have a radio at all.
20:13Just pair your phone and play modern sounds with modern amplification.
20:16That's super cool.
20:17Now, the Mark series is a simple installation and setup.
20:21And it's got different models for running two through four speakers with RCA outputs and even models for hands-free calling.
20:28You can use their system in cars, golf carts, boats, basically anywhere you Bluetooth tunes.
20:34So find your receiver at out-of-sight audio.com.
20:44All right, gang, welcome back, man.
20:45We are on our stealth and this thing is looking like rat bink with the blower coming out of the hood, man.
20:49Yeah, kind of love it.
20:50I mean, we got it in-ish, but we got some cutting to do.
20:53Uh, hey, man, I don't know if you saw, I've got some lines in here.
20:56What do you think, man?
20:57You think we got enough there?
20:58We'll pull this thing out.
20:59Start cutting ourselves a giant.
21:01Look, the big thing here is how much we're going to cut.
21:05So this is going to be fun, man.
21:06Stick around.
21:14All right, so gang, we are making progress.
21:17We've got a little bit more to cut here.
21:18It's sort of double layered.
21:19We've got to kind of get this thing shoved into place.
21:22Put a little look, my friend.
21:22Ha!
21:23To celebrate, man, got you a little dose there.
21:26Good trip.
21:27Sonically infused.
21:28Yes, dude, this whiskey is something else.
21:30That shop is unbelievable.
21:31Shout out to everybody who's turning wrenches from us to you.
21:35Salute.
21:36Keep turning them.
21:37Cheers.
