00:00Good evening. Is the Babri Masjid controversy returning to haunt India and divide people in the run-up to Bengal elections?
00:10Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarsangchalak Mohan Bhagwat has warned that construction of a new Babri Masjid in Bengal will only widen the rift that had effectively been settled with the Supreme Court verdict and the construction of a Divya Bhavya Ram temple at Ayodhya.

02:48Mayu Kabir now claims that there are followers who are coming not just from other parts of Bengal,
02:54not just from Murshidabad or adjoining areas, but also from Bihar, from Uttar Pradesh, from Jharkhand, and even Madhya Pradesh.
03:01And he, of course, is taking on both the BJP and the Thirmul Congress.
03:06But what does this World Bank politics actually mean?
03:08Will it lead to wider fissures in our society, in our country?
03:14We debate that.
03:15Coming up at 8.30 tonight, trouble mounts in Bangladesh.
03:19Another student leader has been shot at in the run-up to elections.
03:23There are multiple protests against the Mohammed Yunus regime.
03:27The administration is now being accused of creating bad blood with India as diversionary tactics.
03:33They're fueling anti-India hate in Bangladesh.
03:36India Today's Asutosh Mishra is on Ground Zero.
03:39He reports from the heart of the action.
03:41We get to that report at 8.30 tonight.
03:43I'm Gaurav Savan.
03:44As always, let's get started with the headlines on India First.

06:09Shriya Swayam Sevak Sangsar Sangchalak Mohan Bhagwat warned that the construction of this
06:14Babri Masjid will only widen the rift in society the dispute had effectively been settled by
06:22the Supreme Court with its verdict for in favour of construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya
06:26the TMC and the BJP have both hit out at Humayun Kabir who incidentally has floated his own political
06:33party now Janta Unnayan party and pledged to field candidates in the forthcoming Bengal
06:39assembly elections
06:40Suspended Trinamul Congress MLA Humayun Kabir at the centre of the Babri Masjid controversy
06:53in Bengal has today launched an entirely new political party
06:57This after he laid the foundation stone of a Babri Masjid-style mosque in Beldanga, Murshidabad
07:12on December 6th
07:25Since then the site has seen weekly Friday prayers steady fundraising funds are being collected openly
07:31with organizers claiming crows raised through cash boxes and digital payments
07:46The Babri Masjid move soon snowball into a major political flashpoint
07:50RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat termed the Babri Masjid construction in Bengal a political conspiracy aimed at polarization
07:58The BJP echoed Bhagwat's charge accusing the Mamta Banerjee government of appeasement politics
08:19Both GMs in Congress hit back reminding the BJP of the demolition of the original Babri Masjid
08:24and accusing it of stoking communal tension
08:26When the Babri Masjid was destroyed by the Babri Masjid was destroyed by the Babri Masjid
08:33Both GMs in Congress hit back reminding the BJP of the demolition of the original Babri Masjid
08:39and accusing it of stoking communal tension
08:43The Babri Masjid was destroyed by the Babri Masjid
08:50Who was there?
08:53What was the RSS made in 1925?
08:55And what did the RSS made in 1925?
08:57What did the RSS made in 1928?
09:00In the 3 February of 1948, Sardar Patel had banned from the RSS
09:09And such people were banned from the RSS
09:15With assembly elections just months away and the entry of the new party
09:20the road to 2026 in Bengal will be anything but smooth
09:25With Tapasen Gupta, Bureau Report, India Today
09:33Babar was an invader, Babar was not Indian, he invaded India in 1526
09:38So in 21st century India, is it pure vote bank politics
09:42that a mosque is being built in his name, in the name of a cruel invader?
09:46And is there merit in RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat saying
09:49the construction of a mosque in the name of Babar will only widen the rift?
09:53And it's not in the interest of either Hindus or Muslims in India
09:58What should one make of Humayu Kabir, the suspended TMC, MLA who has floated his own party
10:03Now targeting both the TMC and the BJP and Mamata Banerjee insisting
10:08that all of this, all of this is aimed at dividing the minorities
10:13and that minorities should stand united
10:17Will this impact Bengal elections?
10:19Joining me on India first is Radhika Kheda representing the Bharatiya Janata Party
10:23Monujit Mandal is a political analyst
10:25will also give us the Thrinamul Congress thinking
10:27Shikha Mukherjee is a senior journalist
10:29Tushar Gupta as a political analyst and journalist
10:31Monujit Mandal
10:33Why does the Thrinamul Congress see the construction of a Babari Masjid in Bengal
10:37as a BJP conspiracy when Humayu Kabir was a TMC MLA till his suspension?
10:43The BJP says thousands would not have come for this mosque foundation or prayers
10:49unless there was state approval
10:53I think you do not probably know the history of this particular person
10:59by the name of Humayun Kabir
11:01He left TMC before
11:03Sure, he joined the BJP
11:05He joined the BJP, joined TMC again, was suspended again
11:07He was defeated, he came back to TMC
11:09Yes
11:10And I believe he should have been accepted by TMC at that point of time
11:15But he profusely apologised to the party
11:19including the Supreme of the party
11:23And because of that I think he was taken back
11:25This person for the last one year has been singing the tunes of the other side of BJP
11:32We know in this country that BJP has got some B-teams like A-M-I-A
11:39which are also known as a kind of vote katoa parties
11:43Similarly, BJP wanted to have a person like Humayun Kabir as a vote katoa party
11:49Last year also, I mean last election also
11:51They had one particular party
11:53which is completely left by Suvende Odhikari
11:57that is ISA
11:59which was also actually people say and allege that it is run on BJP's money
12:04I am also charging on this television, on your show
12:08Where does the money come from as far as this person is concerned?
12:12We get to hear
12:14In fact, this is a political charge made by the Trinamul Congress as well
12:18That Hemant Biswasarma provided 10 crores of funds
12:24Is it true or not?
12:26What is ED now? ED is CBI
12:28We will support ED
12:29Sir, that's a very grave charge you are levelling
12:31You are saying
12:32You are alleging that Hemant Biswasarma
12:34The Assam Chief Minister is funding the Babari Masjid in Bengal
12:39Is that your allegation sir?
12:40But on what basis?
12:41There are
12:42This is political
12:43I mean that's what I am saying
12:44This is political charges people are making in Bengal
12:46And this should be enquired into
12:48And in fact, you see the money floating
12:51Money floating in caches
12:53Where is your ED?
12:54Where is CBI?
12:55Where does the money come from?
12:57The crores of fund is almost, you know
12:59Almost, you know, running like papers
13:04So you are saying there is no tacit approval of Mamata Bangarji for the construction of a Babari Masjid
13:10Let me get Radhika Kheda
13:12Let me get Radhika Kheda to respond to this Radhika Kheda
13:15That's a very serious charge
13:17Okay
13:18Radhika Kheda, that's a very serious charge that's being levelled
13:21The Trinamul Congress sees this as a BJP conspiracy
13:25With BJP funding according to the TMC and supporters
13:28The construction of a Babari Masjid in Bengal
13:31Jai Shriram
13:34And BJP, even in its worst position
13:36Will never be funding a mosque being made
13:38Let alone Babari being made again
13:40Let me make this very very clear on your show today
13:43Gaurav, that jitne Babari banayenge unka pehle wale Babari jaise haal hooga
13:47This country is not done by Babar Nava
13:49Having said that
13:50In Bengal, what we are witnessing today
13:52Are two parallel strategies that are being deployed by the ruling dispensation
13:56And it's indeed Thagwandan
13:57One, manipulation of the ballot
13:59Two, manufacturing communal flashpoints to divert attention
14:02Because that is what they thrive on
14:04Now the so-called Babari masjid that they are making
14:07It is not accidental
14:08It is timed, it is designed and it is electoral
14:10Was he sleeping all these years?
14:12Why did he not announce it earlier?
14:14Let us be absolutely clear on one thing
14:16The Yudhya issue is legally, constitutionally
14:18And finally settled by the Supreme Court of India
14:20There is no dispute left to resolve
14:22And there is no grievance left to educate
14:24But attempts are now being made in Bengal
14:26To resurrect the imagery, the symbolism and the language
14:29And it's not about religion
14:30It is categorically and clearly about polarization for votes
14:33Because Mamata Banerjee is seeing her ground being removed from right under her
14:37The carpet is just being pulled out
14:39Because the votes are cut out of all Ghuspaiti
14:40So she had no other option left
14:43Because that is the vote bank that she depends on
14:46So this is a call even to the Ghuspaitias and everyone
14:49And to polarize the whole thing
14:50She has nothing to talk about when it comes to women's security
14:52That's a grave counter charge
14:54She has nothing to talk about on industrialization
14:55There is a grave counter charge
14:56On the aspect of Himand Viswa Sarma
14:59And the allegation leveled by TMC
15:01I want you to respond to that
15:02But in just a moment
15:03Mohanujit Mandal
15:04Before I bring in Shikha Mukherjee and Tushar Gupta
15:06You want to quickly respond to the fact
15:08That this is a TMC tactics
15:10A ploy to polarize elections
15:13And ensure that all the Muslims vote for the same ecosystem
15:17As the BJP puts it
15:19Mr. Gaurav Sawant
15:21I believe you know the history of BJP's rise in this country
15:25As a political party
15:26BJP rose to powers and prominence by demolishing Babri Mohanji
15:31So what suited their kinds of politics?
15:33That's the binary
15:34That's the polarization that they thrive on
15:37Till 1982
15:39Till 1982 and late 1980s
15:42Nobody could understand that BJP would come to power in such a way
15:46And it's only because of that famous Ratha Jatta taken by Mr. L. K. Adbani
15:51And who was being rather fanned by the present Prime Minister
15:54Mr. Modi used to sit in front of Mr. Adbani almost
16:00And looking at the feet of Mr. Adbani fanning him like that
16:04During the Ratha Jatta
16:05You can also get that photographs in your archive
16:08You know that is the famous Ratha Jatta that made BJP what it is today
16:12So this Babri demolition
16:14Now it's a reconstruction of the quote unquote Babri
16:17Even not even in terms of you know what is happening as an architecture
16:20But even in terms of virtual construction of Babri Mohanji
16:24Those images will once again help BJP only
16:27There are researches not just in India
16:29But across the globe on these
16:31The communal politics, communal polarization
16:34Who stands to gain?
16:35BJP
16:37UP
16:38Radhika Kheda also quickly respond
16:39Before I bring in Sheikha Mukherjee
16:41Radhika Kheda quickly in 30 seconds ma'am
16:44Are you speaking to me because the audio is very bad?
16:46Yes Radhika Kheda
16:47Yes Radhika Kheda
16:48You know let me make this very clear to the TMC spokesperson
16:51The Bahaar Ke Janata Party does not need
16:53Deligious flash points to win elections
16:55Our work is enough
16:56We are doing enough work
16:57Which is why we are decimating the Indi Thakbandan everywhere
17:00Whether it is the local body polls
17:02It is the Vidhan Sabha polls
17:04Or the Lok Sabha polls
17:06We don't need to bank on religion to win election
17:09Modhi Ji ka jo kaam hai wo bolta hai
17:11And that is what we have been winning on for the past 11 years
17:13And you are not able to decimate us
17:15So you are trying this very old book ploy
17:19To create a fear
17:21To create fear in people
17:23To create a divide amongst people
17:25Because like I said
17:26Mamata Banerjee has nothing to offer
17:28No industrialization
17:29No jobs
17:30No women's security
17:31She has failed as the home minister
17:33She has failed as the woman chief minister
17:34She has failed every daughter of West Bengal
17:37She has always banked upon the very thing
17:39That she has resigned in Lok Sabha
17:41During the congress government
17:43And through papers on the speaker's face
17:45For saying ki bangal mein ghuspaiti hai hai
17:47Today she is standing and
17:48Imagine a chief minister of a state
17:50Standing and saying
17:51I will see how anyone is sent back to Bangladesh
17:53This is the chief minister
17:55Let me bring in Shikha Mukherjee
17:56Let me quickly bring in Shikha Mukherjee
17:57In this conversation
17:59Shikha Mukherjee in a secular state
18:01Any individual can build any religious place
18:03But to name it
18:05Babari Masjid
18:06Do you see suspended TMC leader Humayu Kabir
18:09Creating trouble in Bengal
18:11What is your reading of the timing
18:13Just before assembly elections madam
18:15I think there is
18:17Humayu Kabir has made his point very clear
18:20One
18:21He is going to construct a masjid
18:24And it is going to be
18:25A replica of the Babari Masjid
18:27Why?
18:28Because he thinks that
18:29That is the one way of
18:30Consolidating
18:32A Hindu
18:33A Muslim vote
18:34Which
18:35Which he
18:36Which he wants to represent
18:38But he's named his party
18:40Janata Unnan Party
18:42In other words
18:43He doesn't want
18:44Specifically
18:45AIMIM
18:47Kind of labor
18:48So he's hoping to
18:50Cashing on
18:52A
18:53Consolidation of
18:55The Muslim votes
18:56In Muslim
18:57Muslim majority
18:58Districts
18:59Or in Muslim majority
19:00Constituencies
19:01And B
19:02He's also trying to
19:04Create a kind of
19:05Non-communal
19:09Label for himself
19:11So that he can attract other voters
19:13And look at how he's done it
19:15The reconstruction of the Babari Masjid
19:19The next
19:21event
19:23That event
19:25On 6th of December
19:26It was
19:27Straight out of
19:28The
19:29Ayodhya
19:30Playbook
19:31You had people
19:32Carrying
19:33Bricks
19:34Which they had made
19:35In their villages
19:36To contribute to the foundation
19:37Laying stone
19:38You had this
19:40Kind of
19:41People
19:42Coming in
19:43And
19:44Chipping in
19:45Then you have the kind of mass Quran reading. So everything is a kind of public performance to galvanize the vote bank he thinks is up for grabs.
20:03Whether his thinking is right or wrong remains to be seen. But he is talking about a Muslim vote bank. And he's talking about about winning 90 seats and turning himself into a kingmaker in West Bengal politics.
20:20Now, if these are his ambitions, then obviously there has to be a partner in crime. And the partner in crime would be any party which gets around 70, 60 seats, because then it would be halfway mark.
20:38And that kind of makes it very interesting. He cannot align with the Trinamool Congress if it gets a minority of the seats. The chances of the Congress and the CPM getting any of that number is out of the question, which leaves it with only one partner, which is the BJP.
20:58It's a very strange calculation. So in other words, what was being spoken of earlier is that in West Bengal, Humayun Kabir's move is as much kind of communal polarization, communal consolidation effort,
21:22as is the BJP's entire narrative on the Ghusbetya, the demographic change, how the infiltrators have...
21:33Let me get Tushar Gupta also to weigh in on this because that's a very interesting perspective that you've raised on this issue.
21:39You know, because Babar was an invader. Babar was not Indian.
21:43Is it just insensitive or downright divisive to construct a masjid in Bengal in the name of Babari, recreate fissures in society?
21:53The BJP says it cannot happen without state support.
21:56But there are those who say that ultimately this will only benefit either Humayun Kabir or the BJP.
22:02Or can it also benefit the TMC, Tushar Gupta?
22:05Good evening, Gaurav. Look, if you look at the West Bengal electoral dynamics, if I pick up the elections of 2019, 2021, even 2024 for that matter,
22:15the best case scenario for the BJP has always been attaining a 40% vote share.
22:20But interestingly, Mamata Banerjee starts with a vote share of 35% to 40% because she has successfully consolidated the minority vote.
22:27We may not like it, we may argue against it, but it cannot be denied that the TMC starts with a 35% vote share purely and purely because the minority or the second largest majority in Bengal will not vote for the BJP.
22:41And the Congress is not forced to be reckoned with any longer in Bengal.
22:45Now, if Humayun Kabir's antics are to be taken seriously, we are looking at a potential party which can cut through the TMC vote bank, the primary TMC vote bank.
22:55Now, if I look at the election of UP, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, even Rajasthan in the past, even Uttarakhand for that matter,
23:03I have realized that the second largest majority in India, it works in law.
23:07It works very strategically, Gaurav.
23:08Even Maharashtra for that matter, in the assembly elections and the Lok Sabha elections, which were just three months apart,
23:14you had Muslims voting for different parties, but they were voting together for one party in a particular election.
23:20So, in one seat, they were voting for the Congress in the Lok Sabha election, but in another assembly election,
23:25they were voting for some regional party, but all the vote, lock, stock and barrel went to that one party.
23:32So, if you're questioning that, will Humayun Kabir be able to cut through Mantab Anerji's primary vote bank,
23:37I don't think so.
23:38And this is where Mohan Bhagwat's statement about unity of Hindus in Bengal becomes very, very important.
23:44You pick up the last three, four elections, it's always this eight percentage point gap between the BJP and the TNC,
23:50that becomes a deciding factor.
23:52A couple of percentages point here and there, and BJP is totally off the mark as it happened in 2024 also.
24:01Though they had a respectable 38% vote share, but they lost six Lok Sabha seats compared to 2019.
24:07So, at the end of the day, the Hindu vote that the BJP is unable to get in Bengal,
24:12that is the Achilles heel in their entire electoral campaign.
24:15And this is the bridge they really have to cross in the upcoming assembly polls if they can do it well and good.
24:20But if they are hoping for Humayun Kabir to break through the TNC vote bank,
24:25I would advise them against it.
24:26Okay, because Mohanujit Mandel, Mamata Banerjee and the TNC want minorities to stand united.
24:32And they're saying so in as many words and claim Humayun Kabir and Asaduddin Ovesi of the AIMIM,
24:38as you also pointed out, you know, they're being seen more as vote cutters.
24:43The BJP is trying to divide the Muslims.
24:45Is that the apprehension that the Muslim vote, if it gets divided, could mean trouble for the TNC?
24:51Let us just assess the situation politically.
24:56I'm not talking about the legal issue.
24:58The matter went to the high court.
25:00The high court categorically stated that someone can build a mosque in a private land.
25:04The state can't do anything with that.
25:06That's the clear verdict from the high court.
25:09Now, look at the political situation here.
25:11When Jagannath Temple was being inaugurated and it was being built,
25:15look at the kind of narrative BJP ran.
25:17And they almost, they again filed a PL against inauguration of Jagannath Temple,
25:23saying that this was Mamata Di's own, you know, this was taken from the state exchequer.
25:29But right now, there is not even whisper.
25:33When there is a mosque being built, there is no political challenge to this.
25:38I want to see BJP challenging this mosque, the way they challenged Jagannath Temple in Diga,
25:44which has now become one of the vibrant tourist spots in the country.
25:48Look at the footfalls after the inauguration of Jagannath Temple in Diga in the last one year.
25:53BJP, there is no political whisper.
25:55As it were, they are pandering to this mosque being built up.
25:59Why?
25:59Because they want polarization.
26:01Because they want the votes to be divided.
26:03But people of Bengal, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, irrespective of their religion,
26:09they know that they vote only for development.
26:12BJP tried their way for the last 7-8 years.
26:14Mamata Banerjee wants Muslims to stand united.
26:18Okay.
26:18Mamata Banerjee wants Muslims to stay united.
26:21Mohan Bhagwat wants Hindus to stand united.
26:24So, is the polarization already happening on communal lines in Bengal?
26:28Gaurav, I have a very simple question to ask Mr. Monerjee's mandal over here.
26:33Should Babri Masjid be made or not?
26:36Yes or no?
26:38Can he please answer me?
26:39I will continue after that.
26:40Simply, simply no.
26:42No, no and no.
26:43Then why are you starting?
26:45Why have you not arrested that man?
26:47So many people are collecting over there.
26:49Of course, if someone is making, if Mr. Mandal, I didn't speak over you.
26:53Let me complete.
26:54Let me complete.
26:55If a man, let me complete.
26:57Let me complete.
26:58Let me complete, Mr. Mandal.
26:59Let me complete.
27:00I asked you a question.
27:01You gave me a reply.
27:02If you believe like I do and like my party does, that Babri Masjid should not be made.
27:08What is stopping Mamata Banerjee to arrest that man?
27:12A, you took weeks to first throw him out of your party.
27:15First, you checked the temperature.
27:17Is this going to affect or help her politically or not?
27:21Then you waited for that.
27:22And then after that, you took action against her.
27:24Second, if he is trying to create communal tension, she has every right and authority
27:30to put a stop to making that.
27:32Let me complete.
27:33You can answer after that.
27:35You spoke well before me.
27:36She has every right and authority as the chief minister and home minister of the state
27:40to go on and arrest him and stop that masjid from being made if it's going to disrupt
27:44the communal harmony of the state.
27:46But no, she wants that to be made because she wants communal harmony to be disrupted the
27:51same way that she wants to stand as a protector of the Rohingyas and of the Bangladeshis.
27:56It was crossed over.
27:57That is a fact.
27:58Ma'am, you made a point.
27:58Okay.
27:59Mr. Mandal wants to respond.
28:01Go ahead, sir.
28:01Probably she did not listen to my argument.
28:04The legally there was a case filed.
28:06The court has clearly stated someone is building a mosque on his private land.
28:11So the court will say if communal harmony is being rejected, she has done it.
28:15Ma'am, let him complete his point.
28:16Are you saying court will be agreeable to that?
28:18He can name it Babri.
28:19He can name it.
28:20Did you go and put your stand in court?
28:23Did the government of West Bank all say this in court that this is destructive communal
28:27harmony?
28:27Ma'am, let him complete his point.
28:28Did your government say this in court?
28:31Did Mahatma Malarji say this in court?
28:32Now listen to the answer.
28:34What is your problem?
28:35Have you given this in court in writing that this will destruct communal harmony and it should
28:39not be made?
28:40Please show me a paper where Mahatma has done it.
28:41Mahatma Malarji says that it should not be made.
28:43That own, but that don't, we are very sure that would not disturb the communal harmony
28:49in this country or the state, not the country, in the state, it will not.
28:53Have Mahatma Malarji gone and told the court and no, we believe it should not be made.
28:58Why don't you invest into the sources of funds?
29:02How much, how does this person getting the funds?
29:05How much money is floating in the air?
29:06You are in force Mr. Mandar.
29:07It is a, it is, the Babri business is a creation.
29:10That is the creation of Mahatma Malarji as a last resort to maintain or cheap relationship.
29:15It is a last resort that people want to.
29:18Not only politically, but legally you cannot challenge.
29:21Have you gone to court?
29:23Have you said this in court?
29:26Have the Mahatma Malarji government gone to court saying that these can't disturb the communal harmony?
29:32Let's bring down temperatures for a moment.
29:36Let's bring down temperatures for a moment.
29:38Mahatma Malarji, if the AI, MIM and Humayu Kabir, as all indications are, are to formally tie up as reports seem to indicate,
29:47does that spell trouble for Mamata Banerji in places like Malda, Murshidabad, Beerbhoom or northern South Dinajpur or even some places in South Dinajpur?
29:53They tried it last year also completely unsuccessful.
29:56They tried it last, last time also in 2021.
30:00Completely unsuccessful.
30:01Okay, okay.
30:01Ms. Mukherjee.
30:03Yeah, well, if it, if it, if it actually happens and then, and the campaign actually reaches a point.
30:12I mean, there are so many ifs and ifs along the way.
30:14And the campaign has to, has to pick up some kind of momentum for a Hindu, for a Muslim vote bank, which is, which has over the years tended to align with the ruling party.
30:31Yes.
30:31This is something that we have seen.
30:32It is, it aligned with the large proportion of the Muslim vote aligned with the CPA.
30:40Then, before that, it used, it used to vote with the Congress and there was, and these, these, these votes have shifted depending on who is the ruling party.
30:50Now, why would, why would a Muslim population in West Bengal, which feels itself to be in a precarious situation, want to vote with a Humayun Kavir, who is not likely to make it to power, with AIMIM, who is also not likely to make it to power,
31:08and quit its, and so they, they will, they will weigh up the risks and the benefits.
31:15And we will see how it progresses.
31:17Number one.
31:17You know, because this logic actually failed in Bihar.
31:19I have a, I have a, I have a small question for the person from the BJP or rather a piece point of information, which may soothe her very overcharged sentiments, which is that, you know, there were two, there are two Ayodhya temple replicas coming up in West Bengal.
31:37On the day that you had the Babri Masjid foundation stone being laid, there was another temple stone that was being laid, and that was for an Ayodhya Ram temple replica.
31:48And this is, this is the second time over that it has happened.
31:51Therefore, this polarization and both the, the locations of all these three new places of worship are Mushidabad.
32:03So, apparently, it is Mushidabad where the entire drama is going to play out, and then the anticipation is that there will be a ripple effect.
32:16I think this is all known.
32:17And hence that question on Malda, Mushidabad, South Kolkata, I'll take that to Tushar in just a moment.
32:23But Radhika, you want to quickly respond to that?
32:25Gaurab, because of the audio, I could not hear a word of what she was saying.
32:30So, Ms. Mukherjee said that there are two replicas of the Divya Bhavya Ram temple that are also coming up in Murshidabad.
32:37So, if that's, you know, good, why is the Babri Masjid bad?
32:41Perhaps it's the...
32:41Well, I don't know, she's a very senior journalist, and she's, I'm sure she has read about Babur much more than I have.
32:48She's been on this earth for many more years than I have.
32:51And I'm sure that she knows that Babur was an invader.
32:53That's a very ageist, very ageist moment.
32:58He ensured that people's religion was converted, and all the drama that he did, he was an invader who destroyed Indian Sanskriti and our religion.
33:06And if she is okay with his Babri Masjid being made, then Lord save the country.
33:11Absolutely.
33:12And comparing that to Lord Rama's mandir is very unfortunate.
33:15For anyone who's well-educated, who knows the difference between Babri and Rama and Rama.
33:18Yes, can I quickly bring in Kishar, and then I'm coming to you, sir.
33:21Kishar, TMC says Humayu Kabir is an agent of the BJP.
33:25Though Shah Nawaz Hussain sees Humayu Kabir as an agent of the TMC, working at TMC's behest.
33:30Family of the TMC.
33:32You know, the point, the interesting...
33:34No, no, Gaurav, the interesting thing is Humayu Kabir is an agent of nobody.
33:38He might be playing double sides, but he's benefiting none.
33:41Look, West Bengal is different.
33:43People don't realize it's a state with two majorities.
33:45Normally, they are always dealing with one majority and another minority in every state.
33:49But West Bengal is two majorities.
33:51One majority that works en bloc towards the TMC,
33:55and one majority that is still not gravitating towards the BJP.
33:58So, whatever Humayu Kabir does, until the first majority, the Hindus do not go towards the BJP,
34:04the election will swing Mamta Panipji's way.
34:07And again, it needs to be emphasized, Muslims tend to work lock, stock and barrel.
34:12They understand where their vote is getting divided, and they do not fall for it.
34:16That's about it.
34:16Okay, okay, so let's see which way the voters, you know, decide and vote,
34:23and we'll be tracking that story very closely.
34:24I want to thank all my guests.
34:26It's a big breaking story that's coming in from Bangladesh.
34:30It's a political bombshell in the instances of youth leaders being targeted in Bangladesh,
34:36especially Sharif Hadi, a senior leader of Bangladesh, Nationalist Party of the BNP,
34:44has said Hadi's shooting was linked to the Jamaat in Bangladesh,
34:51and that the shooter was bailed out twice before the murder.
34:56BNP veteran Niloufar Chaudhari Moni claims that a senior Jamaat-e-Islami leader
35:02and a lawyer, Shishir Manir, secured bail for the accused just months before the killing.
35:09There's also a money trail, massive money trail that's being talked about,
35:13and money that was transferred from one bank account to the other
35:17that is currently under investigation.
35:19So, was the killer being protected inside Bangladesh?
35:24Is there a Jamaat link to the killer?
35:27And is India being blamed because of vested interests in Bangladesh?
35:32Was there political shielding, the regime shielding the killer?
35:36And is there a larger internal conspiracy in Bangladesh?
35:40We are not saying so.
35:41We are just getting you voices from within Bangladesh,
35:44and an opposition leader in Bangladesh, not the Awami League.
35:47Not the Awami League that Nobel laureate Mohammed Yunus has already banned.
35:53He's banned their political activities,
35:54but the opposition BNP and a very senior leader of the BNP
35:59indicating that India is being scapegoated to deflect attention
36:04from very uncomfortable questions within Bangladesh.
36:07And these are very explosive claims that were made on live television
36:11by a BNP leader,
36:12and this raises serious doubts about
36:14one, who planned Hadi's killing,
36:17who's shielding the killers,
36:19and why is India being scapegoated?
36:22Listen in.
36:22More breaking news coming in from Bangladesh,
36:52sources are telling India today
36:54that the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi
36:56has suspended consular service and visa issuance
37:00until further notice.
37:01They're saying it's due to unforeseen circumstances.
37:04No official statement has been released just as yet,
37:08but we are being told through sources
37:10that visa services and consular access remain suspended.
37:14It remains on hold for now.
37:16It's a temporary measure.
37:17Also, visa and consular services at Bangladesh's
37:20Assistant High Commission in Agartala
37:22has also been suspended.
37:24And this suspension comes into effect
37:25starting tomorrow morning,
37:27but no end date has been announced just as yet.
37:31So, it just appears that when voices within Bangladesh
37:36are pointing towards an internal hand
37:39about a Jamaat-e-Islami role,
37:41Bangladesh establishment,
37:43the regime of Mohammed Yunus,
37:45is desperately trying to deflect pressure,
37:48desperately trying to blame India
37:50by hook or by crook.
37:52Their own investigations has nothing concrete,
37:55nothing concrete on Indian hand,
37:56and their police officers have gone on record
37:58on camera to say so,
38:00and yet, the regime wants to blame India
38:02and fan anti-India hatred.
38:05What is it leading to?
38:07A Hindu man, Deepu Das,
38:09was lynched by a mob.
38:11He was taken out of his factory,
38:13he was beaten up,
38:15he was hung from a tree,
38:16he was lynched,
38:18and then set on fire.
38:20Now, another youth leader,
38:22now what we are being told is,
38:23after Hadi, another youth leader,
38:25Mottalib Siddhar,
38:27now he is of the National Citizen Party,
38:29he too, in the run-up to elections,
38:31has been shot in the head,
38:33like Sharif Hadi.
38:35As violence escalates,
38:36the situation in Bangladesh
38:37remains extremely precarious.
38:39And amidst this growing unrest,
38:40former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
38:42has launched her sharpest attack yet
38:45on Mohammed Yunus
38:46and the regime that he heads,
38:48accusing the regime of failing
38:50to control the violence
38:51and protect minorities.
38:53He's indications in Bangladesh are,
38:55all this is being done
38:56because Mohammed Yunus
38:57wants to remain as the president
38:59or the head of the government
39:01and not hold elections.
39:03Sheikh Hasina has said,
39:04Mohammed Yunus-led administration
39:05is either powerless
39:07or unwilling to maintain law and order.
39:09We bring you more in this report.
39:12Bangladesh is on the edge of anarchy,
39:19ahead of upcoming elections in February.
39:24After Osman Hadi's killing
39:26that unleashed a wave of violence last week,
39:28now another youth leader,
39:31Mottalib Siddhar
39:32of the National Citizens Party
39:34is shot in the head.
39:35Mottalib Siddhar,
39:43who had taken part in protests
39:44that led to Sheikh Hasina's ouster,
39:46is critical
39:47and undergoing treatment
39:48in the hospital.
39:51The attempt on Siddhar's life
39:53comes even as the country
39:54grapples with violence
39:55by Islamist extremists,
39:57who targeted an Indian mission
40:00in Chittagong,
40:01media outlets,
40:02cultural centre in Dhaka
40:04and lynched a Hindu man
40:06in Meemansingh.
40:13On Monday,
40:14several Hindu organisations
40:15held protest against
40:17the lynching of Deepu Das.
40:19India Today's reporters
40:21visited Meemansingh
40:22where Deepu Das
40:23was dragged from his workplace
40:25and beaten to death
40:26by a mob.
40:29I'm in the Meemansingh area.
40:30I remember the Meemansingh
40:31where exactly
40:32Deepu Das
40:33was lynched by the mob.
40:35He was burned
40:36in a square
40:37at a public place.
40:38Ten people have been arrested
40:39including the floor manager
40:40of his company.
40:41So Meemansingh looks like
40:42mostly the industrial area.
40:43He was dragged out
40:44from this gate.
40:45Eventually,
40:45we have seen those individuals.
40:47The mob was coming
40:48in a huge number.
40:49He was dragged out
40:50of this gate
40:50and they took him
40:51the beating up to death
40:52and they took him
40:53nearby to the chalk
40:54where he was burned.
40:55the incident
40:56that shocked
40:57the whole world.
41:19Deepu's family
41:20is demanding
41:21capital punishment
41:22for the accused.
41:23As Bangladesh
41:43Chief Economic Advisor
41:44Muhammad Yunus
41:45struggles to keep
41:46his house in order,
41:48former PM
41:48Sheikh Hasina
41:49has hit out
41:50at the regime.
41:52Hasina,
41:52who has taken shelter
41:53in India,
41:54has criticised
41:55the Yunus government
41:56over its failure
41:57to control the violence
41:59and protect minorities.
42:01Hasina claimed
42:02that Yunus was powerless
42:03to stop the attacks
42:05on diplomatic missions.
42:07She accused Yunus government
42:08of giving immunity
42:10to hooligans.
42:11As the situation
42:13in Bangladesh remains tense,
42:15India is keeping a watch
42:17on every development
42:18in its backyard.
42:20Euro Report,
42:22India Today.
42:22And India Today's
42:29Ashutosh Mishra
42:30now joins me
42:31from the heart
42:31of the action
42:32in Bangladesh.
42:33Ashutosh,
42:34what's the situation
42:35right now?
42:37There are reports
42:37of multiple protests,
42:39but is the security
42:40situation improving?
42:44Well,
42:45what it looked like
42:46today onwards,
42:47probably the situation
42:48will calm down,
42:49cool down
42:50and potentially
42:51that fueling
42:52that we have seen
42:53in Bangladesh
42:53would at least settle
42:54in a couple of days.
42:55But immediately
42:56afternoon,
42:57we heard
42:58the shootout
43:00on another student leader,
43:01the NCP leader
43:02in Khulna district,
43:04another was shot up.
43:05He's struggling
43:06with life
43:06in the hospital
43:07where he's being
43:07treated.
43:09But at the same time,
43:11a lot of things
43:12that are raising
43:12question on the
43:13union's administration,
43:14particularly about
43:15the shootout
43:15that happened
43:16with the Hadi.
43:16Then we have
43:17the mob violence,
43:17then we have
43:18the mob lynching
43:18case of minorities
43:20and the lawlessness,
43:21the media being attacked.
43:22So all square,
43:23if you see,
43:23there are only protests
43:24happening.
43:25At a press club
43:26outside,
43:27we have seen
43:27the religious group,
43:28the Hindu minorities group
43:29were protesting,
43:30demanding justice
43:31for the Pudas.
43:32Then in the afternoon,
43:33we've seen
43:33the media news network,
43:34the newspaper owner
43:36association,
43:37were marching
43:37at the Daily Star
43:38office against
43:38the mob
43:39that burned down
43:41the two media houses.
43:42Their buildings burned down.
43:43People were literally,
43:44journalists were on
43:45the threat of dying.
43:46At the same time,
43:47the lawlessness,
43:48the shootouts happening,
43:50the mob lynching,
43:51the Pudas.
43:51So all these,
43:52that's happening
43:52under the nose
43:53of Dr. Yunus' administration.
43:55And in the while,
43:56when we see,
43:56there is a model code
43:57of conduct in poor.
43:58So all having said,
43:59while the entire government
44:00is busy
44:01for the arrival
44:02of Mr. Tariq Urziyaar,
44:03the BNP leader,
44:04who's coming
44:05on 25th of January.
44:06So all these preparations
44:07seems to be focused
44:08and shifting towards that
44:09when it comes to
44:10handling the law and order.
44:11Remember the hardy shooter,
44:12Masood,
44:13who has been identified.
44:14The lookout code notice
44:15has been not while
44:15the investigation,
44:16CID found around
44:1767 crore rupees
44:19in his bank account.
44:20That is also being seen.
44:21But all thus having said,
44:22apparently crores
44:23were transferred
44:24into that account
44:24and lakhs were moved around
44:27according to some reports.
44:28But explain this to me.
44:29You know,
44:29you mentioned Deepu Das,
44:31the Hindu
44:32who was dragged
44:33out of the factory,
44:35beaten up,
44:36stripped,
44:36lynched
44:37and then set on fire.
44:39Are his family members safe?
44:41Are Hindus
44:42and other minorities
44:43in Bangladesh
44:43feeling safe?
44:44Explain this rise
44:46of radical Islamism
44:47or radical Islamists
44:48in Bangladesh suddenly.
44:52Well, this morning
44:53I tried to go to
44:54the Mainshin Laka area
44:56that in the Vokula,
44:58Voluka district.
44:59It was very risky.
45:00The area is known
45:01for the bastion
45:02for the several
45:03fundamentalist
45:04and radical elements.
45:05Eventually,
45:05those were the elements
45:06who lynched
45:07only for a rumor.
45:08Remember,
45:09even the police,
45:10the Voluka police
45:10which is investigating
45:11the case
45:12that they could not
45:12find any trace,
45:13any evidence,
45:14any statement
45:15that explains that
45:17if at all
45:19Deepu Das made
45:19several,
45:20you know,
45:21or any such kind
45:22of a statement,
45:23blaspheming statement.
45:24So the police is clueless.
45:26They have recorded
45:26a statement
45:27when I was there
45:27at the factory,
45:28right outside the factory.
45:29The CID police
45:30and the detective branch
45:31of Voluka police
45:32were investigating
45:32the forensics being done,
45:35the statements being recorded.
45:36We also saw the place
45:38literally I have gone through
45:39where he was burned down,
45:41he was hanged to a tree,
45:42he was burned down
45:43by the mob
45:43and all the shops
45:44were open.
45:45They could see potentially
45:46but when we tried
45:47to speak clearly,
45:48the fear was visible
45:49on people's face.
45:50In fact,
45:50I also tried to reach
45:51to the village
45:52of Deepu Das
45:53but we were advised
45:55not to.
45:56So clearly,
45:56the family members
45:57are on back foot.
45:58The Hindu groups
45:59are demanding justice
46:00for Deepu Das.
46:01The family members,
46:02they remain in fear
46:03and trauma.
46:03one could imagine
46:05what could be
46:05the situation
46:07of a family
46:07who lost their loved one,
46:08lost a son
46:09in a mob lynching case.
46:11So while the investigation
46:12begins,
46:12the government,
46:13all the machineries
46:14are condemning.
46:15But at the same time,
46:16arrests,
46:16so far arrest
46:17is concerned.
46:1812 arrests
46:19have been made
46:20and more people
46:20are being identified
46:21through those videos
46:23that surface.
46:24But serious questions
46:26on the lawlessness
46:26and the mob violence
46:28that is unfolding
46:29in Bangladesh.
46:30Not from today,
46:31not from yesterday,
46:32but since the July
46:33uprising that we have
46:34seen across Bangladesh.
46:34Ashutosh,
46:36stay safe,
46:37keep writing that story.
46:38I will come back
46:39to you for more
46:40from Bangladesh.
46:40I want to shift focus
46:41and take you quickly
46:42to Himachal Pradesh
46:44because a very disturbing
46:45image has emerged
46:46from a hospital
46:47in Himachal Pradesh.
46:49This is the Indira Gandhi
46:51Medical College
46:52in Shimla.
46:53There's a video
46:53that's gone viral online
46:55that shows
46:55an assault
46:57by a doctor.
46:58A doctor
46:59assaulting a patient.
47:01Look at these images.
47:02These images have gone
47:03absolutely viral.
47:05Now the patient
47:06Arjun Pawar,
47:07look at this,
47:08look at this,
47:09look at the manner
47:10in which the doctor
47:11is beating up
47:13a patient
47:13who'd gone to hospital
47:15for an endoscopy.
47:17So after the procedure
47:17was completed,
47:19the patient claimed
47:21that he had
47:22breathing difficulty
47:23and he lay down
47:24on a bed
47:25in another ward.
47:27And this was
47:28when there was
47:28an argument
47:28between him
47:30and the doctor
47:30on duty.
47:31Family members
47:32claim
47:33that the doctor
47:34was very rude.
47:35He physically
47:36assaulted the patient.
47:37In fact,
47:37watch these images.
47:38They caught it
47:39on camera
47:40and this has gone
47:41absolutely viral.
47:43A doctor
47:43is supposed to
47:44heal.
47:45Is this how
47:46doctors in
47:47Himachal Pradesh
47:48think that they
47:49will behave
47:50that too
47:51in a government
47:51hospital
47:52listening
47:52to what the
47:53patient said?
47:54and this is how
47:55the doctor
47:56is going to
47:56take care of
47:57the doctor.
47:58I was
47:58going to
47:59take care of
47:59the doctor.
48:00I was
48:00going to
48:01take care of
48:01the doctor.
48:02I told him I'll give him an auction.
48:04After the doctor says he's admitted to the doctor.
48:08He says he's admitted to the doctor.
48:11He's also in the dronkos.
48:12I said, I'm going to talk about the doctor.
48:14What is he saying?
48:16He's talking about the doctor.
48:18He says, you're you.
48:20He says, I'm talking about the doctor.
48:24I'm going to talk about the doctor.
48:26I have an acceptance.
48:28He says, what's he doing?
48:30What do you say about the doctor?
48:33The doctor says he's in my family.
48:37You're going to talk about the doctor.
48:39You're going to talk about the doctor.
48:41I'm going to talk about the doctor.
48:43Whatever the appropriate action.
48:45We're going to take that.
48:47We're baffled.
48:49They said they've been fired.
48:51We've agreed the police to do their job.
48:55Well, the police have initiated an investigation and we will track that story.
49:04But that is all I have for you on India first this evening.
49:06Many thanks for watching.
