00:03We've got a great one today for a couple of reasons.
00:05I mean, one, because me and Willie are here.

00:08But two, when is the last time you've
00:10ever seen a Dodge Stealth get stuffed with a Hellcat red eye?
00:14Anyway, in the show, at American Meadow Customs,
00:17drinking some whiskey.
00:18Ooh.
00:19What?
00:26All right, step into crazy town over here.
00:28We've got a buddy with a 95 Dodge Stealth.
00:31Now, these things came back in the day pretty wimpy, right?
00:33Yeah, way wimpy.
00:35I think, you know, 6-cylinder, 190 horsepower, somewhere in that mall.
00:38164.
00:39Oh, my god.
00:40Front wheel drive, 164.
00:41But in an epiphany, right, or some vision or dream he had,
00:45which some people might call it intoxicated stupor.
00:48Yeah, a nightmare.
00:49He said, man, what if we grafted in a charger, you know?
00:53And in the V6, we could put some turbos on it in here
00:56and make it a rear-wheel drive car.
00:57And we said, well.
00:58Well, then we kind of ragged on him for a while.
01:00Like, why would you do all this work for a 6-cylinder?
01:03Exactly.
01:03We could put a V8 in there.
01:04Yeah.
01:05And somehow, boom.
01:06It's a Hellcat red eye engine, 797 horsepower,
01:10707 foot-pounds of torque.
01:12In this?
01:13All right.
01:13Yeah, in that.
01:14It's all powered by this 2.7 liter supercharger.
01:17That's an upgrade from the 2.4 that normally came on the Hellcat.
01:21That's a big girl ready to party.
01:23It's going to be a challenge.
01:24Yeah.
01:25So we're going to get out our torches, our pry bars, our wedges,
01:27our big sledgehammers.
01:28Our cutting wheels.
01:29Yeah.
01:30Because we've got to get a whole tunnel plow through the back
01:33and eventually work our way to the rear end to set up some kind
01:37of 49-inch or whatever to handle this much power.
01:40Right, right, right.
01:41Now, obviously, we try to upgrade everything with ARP bolts,
01:48everything that we can, because it's just a better bolt.
01:51You guys know the drill, right?
01:52They're through-hardened, not just case-hardened.
01:54Makes them, like, 20% stronger than, say, grade-8 bolts.
01:58Big thing, made in America.
02:00A little key note, we've told you this before.
02:02Whenever you're using just some metal, stainless steel bolt
02:05into aluminum housing, always good to put some lubricant on
02:09there, some anti-seize, because that way, when that corrosion
02:11starts, you're still going to be able to twist that bolt years
02:14down the road.
02:16You know, before we get too far in this wild and crazy journey
02:19of making space, we want to make sure that we've got a plan for
02:22all the different aspects of the project, one of which is wiring,
02:26because that could be a giant just pain in the neck.
02:29Look, let me show you the old.
02:31So this is the old engine wiring harness.
02:33Now, that thing is a behemoth.
02:36Instead of spending forever today trying to back splice things
02:39out that you're not going to use, we went to Hotwire Auto,
02:42and these guys are awesome.
02:44We've been to them on a number of projects, man,
02:46and they make everything easy.
02:47Here's the new harness plug-and-play.
02:50It's very OE.
02:51All the connectors, everything is shielded.
02:54And the transmission unit, which they have, this was great.
02:57They flashed that, so it already has a tune for you.
03:00So now the transmission and the engine
03:02are talking to each other.
03:03And here's what they did with the old body harness.
03:06All right, you've seen these before.
03:08They take it, they strip everything away that you don't need.
03:10They put it on a big diet, right?
03:12And they'll add things like Speedo, right?
03:14Or even, you know, a tack in this case.
03:17Now, we're going to do a quick dry fit.
03:19Just see how this thing is going to lay out.
03:21But we'll strip it back off, because we're going to just do a whole bunch of wrestling
03:24and fighting, getting this thing in, out, cutting holes back in again, and so forth.
03:29It's looking pretty good, cuz.

03:34You know, you can see how it lays in here.

03:36I think most of it's all going to be hidden.

04:34If you just woke up, you might want to pinch yourself, but I'm telling you, this is one
04:37of the coolest, most unbelievable facilities in the country.
04:41It's called American Metal Customs.

04:49He's running this joint, and it is amazing.
04:51These bikes, right out of the gate, man.

04:57So, big showroom, cool cars, crazy bikes, and you're just seeing the tip of the iceberg
05:02here.
05:03These things, attention to detail is wow.
05:05Instead of buying parts and bolting them on, you gotta separate yourself, right?
05:08So you gotta build a metal shape, you gotta build a TIG weld, and that's kind of what
05:11you see here.
05:12These bikes are completely handcrafted from the ground up, but not only that, you got
05:16two vintage knucklehead motors in here.
05:18So you take that history, and you take this custom world, and I merge it with my style,
05:22and this is what you come up with, man.
05:24And so we have Zayden, and then this is Disciple.
05:27And this bike's really cool, which we'll get into later, man.
05:30Yeah, man.
05:31And this bike actually is a part of our whiskey in the sonic fusion process.
05:34Wait till you guys see this.
05:35Like I said, tip of the iceberg.
05:36You want a tour?

05:40Oh, yeah.
05:41And at the end of this, a little something to possibly quench your thirst.

05:45All right, you guys, you saw a lot of the flossy and glossy in that room, but in this
05:57room, it really comes to the grit, the grind, and the creativity.
06:01This is where it all happens.

06:04Walk us through what's going on.
06:05This shop is massive.
06:06Yeah, man.
06:07So this isn't just a shop, but it's a one-stop shop for all your custom restoration, hot rod,
06:12bike, anything you can dream up, we can make it happen here.
06:15Man.
06:16From bikes to street rods to muscle cars, they do it all.
06:18Everything, man.
06:19So what we specialize in here is high-end metal shaping, custom fabrication.
06:23We have a whole custom paint sector.
06:25We have an in-house interior shop, mechanics bay, storage, detailing.
06:30Anything you want, man, we can make it happen here.
06:32Anything you want, they can make right here.
06:35Yeah.

06:37So this is very unique.
06:38We have our own in-house interior shop.
06:40This is led up by Brian and his wife, Lynn.
06:43They've been doing this most of their lives.
06:45And, I mean, everything in here is handcrafted.
06:48You can see the sewing machines over there, custom hand stitches, all the leather translate
06:53into these beautiful seats, man.
06:55And this is a very special project we've been working on.
06:57Yeah, what we got here?
06:58This is a 1934 Ford.
07:00This is called the Keating Project.
07:01They've had it in their family for 46 years.
07:03And me and Ralph had, you know, very lucky to be able to go pull that out of the garage,
07:08bring it into this, and now what you see is the handcrafted interior.
07:11Yeah, this is a generational car.
07:13Absolutely.
07:14It's going to go from, you know, one set of owners, the dad or the grandparents, to the
07:18next set, which is, you know, the son or his kid.
07:21Yeah.
07:22How cool is that?
07:23And again, just one of the several sort of ways that they go above and beyond.
07:27I mean, tethered to an amazing fab shop, paint shop, right?
07:31You have this interior shop that a lot of people would send their vehicle off to.
07:34Yeah.
07:35But here, it's all underneath one roof.
07:37And like I said, just the tip of the iceberg, more to see what's next.
07:40Let's go look at the fab shop.
07:42You know, most people wouldn't take a 54 Cadillac and do something crazy exotic with it, unless
07:50you have a shop like this in your backyard.
07:53Now, right out the gate, man, this subtle, right?
07:56Subtle is the word you see used a lot of times to describe fantastic work, right?
08:03This little subtle peek you put here on the hood, these little subtle peeks here on the
08:08fenders, that just takes that Cadillac and will dust it off and screams performance.
08:13I'm dying to know what's under the hood because the way this car looks, it's got to be fast.
08:18Yeah, this is about as custom as it gets.
08:20Not only do we have all the sheet metal modifications, but this is a full bag roadster shop chassis.
08:25And underneath it, we have an LSX motor, man.
08:28This thing is pushing some crazy horsepower, man.
08:32Again, look at the attention to detail.
08:34I just want to point out something.
08:35On top of the supercharger, you got this cool little peek, right?
08:38Over here, look how they've done the valve covers, right?
08:41To accentuate AC pump or alternator.
08:43Back over here, the plug wires, right, get hidden here.
08:46That's all like crazy metal work.
08:48Just time, dedication, and a little attention to detail.
08:52That is not subtle.
08:53That is dope.
08:54When this car comes out, we're wanting to break the internet with this one, man.

08:58It could be a sick ride, but one of many here.

09:13This is one of the sickest bikes I've ever seen.

09:16And I got to imagine you start here.

09:19The tank sets everything to me.
09:20It sets the lines, it sets the style, and then I base every part after that off that.
09:26It's got a flag, it's got a cool knife in here.
09:28What's this bike going?
09:29So this is for the Oscar Mike Foundation, and it also represents 250 years of service.
09:34This is the military's birthday this year.
09:36And then what's going to happen is this will go to the Oscar Mike Foundation, and they can do whatever they want with it.
09:41But it's to raise awareness, to raise money for their new facility, and once again celebrate our heroes out there, man.
09:48Yeah, man.
09:49The true heroes out there.
09:50For real.
09:51Our veterans.
09:52And what a classic offering this is.
09:54Such a cool bike.
09:56Just aesthetically.
09:57To really dig down deep.
09:59Man, so many points.
10:00So many just customized parts of it, man.
10:04This is actually the handle of the sword that became the shifter.
10:07This is the blade of it.
10:08And then over here, that's the hand guard that I incorporated into the air cleaner to get this sword on here.
10:14So that, you know, hopefully I don't disappoint these guys.
10:17No disappointment here at all.
10:19This thing is beautiful.

10:21I got to tell you, man, all this work is kind of making me thirsty.
10:34All right, we've found a, well, a place in the shop that's just amazing.
10:38Yeah, see, American Metal Customs is more than just a hot ride and bike shop.
10:42I oftentimes say the dream is free, but the hustle is sold separately.
10:47And whenever you find the hustle that these guys have, there's got to be another person behind it.
10:52So, Josh, you alluded to what you do with running all the shops with all the cars and the bikes and all these crazy cool builds.

11:02So this is Chris Bishop, man.
11:04This is a co-founder with me.
11:06We met, you know, almost five years ago.
11:08Put our heads together and out of passion created all this.
11:11And so this is the owner and the dude that, you know, make all this happen.
11:15He helps with that dream and that hustle.
11:17Yeah.
11:18So I got to ask, man, the whiskey is, wow, you're talking about setting yourself above and beyond what most hot rod or restoration stops have.
11:25And you went, you took the same quality that you have in all these custom builds and bikes and you put that into your whiskey.
11:34Yeah, I mean, it's non-typical that, you know, people go and enjoy their custom car, custom motorcycle, or even, you know, just a car that they, you know, wrenched on.
11:45Enjoy it and then go have a little bit of a sipper and have the smoke.
11:48So it made a ton of sense.
11:50And that's what Josh and I do on a regular basis.
11:52We live this.
11:53It's not half-assed stuff.
11:54I mean, this is part of what we do.
11:57And that brings the authenticity to our whiskey company.
12:00Yeah, and they did something really unique.
12:02They actually have a patent on this process.
12:04So tell me about the Sonic Infusion because this really makes your whiskey stand out above and beyond what most whiskeys can do.
12:12100%.
12:13Yeah, very true.
12:14So Sonic Infusion.
12:15What we did is we recorded the revving sound of one of Josh's amazing custom motorcycles called the Disciple.
12:22Multiple Angles, a professional engineer.
12:24We take that revving sound and we play it with a waterproof speaker within the juice of the barrel for four to six months.
12:30Wow.
12:31And you get the effect of Sonic Infusion.
12:34And one of the greatest things about it is you can taste the before, 90-proof Tennessee Straight, and the after.
12:40Incredible, right?
12:41Yeah, because what's happening is that that sound, right, creates this frequency which moves the liquid in the cask.

17:55when we were gifted cars,
17:56and one of the things about it, Matt, is, you know,
17:58I live in the middle of nowhere.
18:00Just basically a motel for mice out back.
18:04I have a lot of these cars that sit for a long time,
18:06and how you defend against that, man.
18:09Boy, Matt here has got all the answers.
18:11So we put a mouse blocker in this thing,
18:13and this is like a daily driver.
18:15Yeah.
18:16And I know it's sitting here, but daily driver,
18:17look at all the wiring harnesses and all the stuff.
18:19It's exposed.
18:20That's exposed.
18:21That can cause problems.
18:22Or it's the small things that cause big problems.
18:24Yeah.
18:25Nailed that one.
18:26All right, let's show you some other spots in the shop
18:28and how we really get these cars ready to gift.
18:34We got some sort of leak, right?
18:35And diagnosing leaks, it sounds easy.
18:38You just look for the spot that's bleeding,
18:40but a lot of these cars are so oil-soaked,
18:43with so much grease, ground, debris.
18:45You really got to get it clean.
18:47And we all know if you got a shop, you work on cars,
18:49there's one way to get it clean.
18:51CRC brake clean.
18:52They actually love the Cars for Christmas program,
18:54so we rely on these guys for all kinds of stuff.
19:03Man, when you're hauling, towing,
19:05or working your vehicle hard every day,
19:07man, your brakes need to keep up.
