Kazakhstan and Japan sign €3 billion worth of agreements

Kazakhstan signed over 40 agreements worth more than €3 billion with Japanese companies during President Tokayev’s visit to Japan.

00:00Ahead of the C5 plus 1 meeting of Central Asian states in Japan,
00:04Kazakh President Kassemzhan Martokraev arrived in Tokyo to meet with representatives of Japanese businesses.
00:09Japan is one of Kazakhstan's largest investors with trade turnover reaching 1.5 billion euro last year.
00:15In turn, Kazakhstan accounts for 70% of Japan's trade with Central Asia.
00:19Overall, the country signed over 40 documents for 3 billion euros in energy, mining, transport and digitalization.
00:26Notable agreements include Rakuten's biotechnologies for cancer treatment
00:30and a joint project between Sumimoto Corporation and Kazathamprom
00:33for the production of medical radioisotopes from byproducts of uranium manufacturing.
00:38Tokayev's visit kicked off with the official lunch with Emperor Naruhita,
00:41where the two discussed cooperation opportunities in medicine and water management.
00:45With Prime Minister Sanaya Takeichi, the President discussed the upcoming C5 plus 1 meeting.
00:49Follow the negotiations, the delegation signed 14 intergovernmental agreements.
00:53Tokayev also met with members of Japan-Kazakhstan Parliamentary Friendship League
00:57and gave a lecture at the United Nations University in Tokyo.
