Australia and Japan signed contracts on Saturday (April 18) launching a landmark $7 billion (A$10 billion ) deal to supply Australia with warships, Tokyo's most consequential military sale since ending a military export ban in 2014. Australian defense minister Richard Marles said contracts were signed for the first three frigates to be built in Japan, with eight more to be built in Australia. - REUTERS
