Uzbekistan and Japan announce new cooperation projects worth over €11 billion

00:00Uzbekistan and Japan agreed on a new portfolio of cooperation projects worth over €11 billion
00:08during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Sonnaya Takeuchi
00:13on the sidelines of the C5 Plus Japan Summit that took place in Tokyo.
00:18The leaders' talks focused on political dialogue, trade and investment, energy infrastructure,
00:23healthcare and education, including plans to establish a special economic zone in Uzbekistan's Samarkand region
00:29based on Japanese standards.
00:31The Uzbek president also met Japan's Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology,
00:36followed by talks with rectors of leading Japanese universities.
00:40Discussions covered cooperation in higher education, research and innovation,
00:44including artificial intelligence, digital technologies and green energy.
00:48On the first day of the official visit, President Mirziyoyev met Emperor Naruhito,
00:53highlighting long-standing people-to-people ties.
00:56He attended a business forum with Japanese companies, inviting them to take part in Uzbekistan's modernization drive.
01:02The Uzbek president also held talks with parliamentary leaders,
01:06focusing on youth cooperation and an inter-parliamentary forum planned for 2026.
