00:0015 games, hundreds of hours, zero disappointments. That's what we're covering today.
00:05I've played every single one of these and they're all sitting at 84 or higher on Metacritic for a
00:09reason. From launch titles to 2025 releases, this is your ultimate PS5 collection. Let's break them
00:15down. Okay, let's talk about the elephant in the room. Or should I say the mind flayer in the room?
00:21Baldur's Gate 3 isn't just the highest rated PS5 game ever with a 97 on Metacritic. It's honestly
00:26one of those games that makes you question if you'll ever be satisfied with another RPG again.
00:31This thing came out in September 2023 and immediately won Game of the Year. And trust me,
00:36it earned every bit of that trophy. You're looking at over 100 hours of pure choice-driven madness
00:41where literally every decision matters. Want to talk your way out of a fight? Sure. Want to seduce
00:46a vampire? Go for it. Want to throw a goblin off a cliff just because you can? The game won't judge
00:51you. Well, your companions might, but that's part of the fun. The turn-based combat is so satisfying,
00:56and the writing is absolutely top tier. I've seen people restart entire campaigns just because
01:01they made one choice they regretted. One choice in a 100-hour game. That's how much this game gets
01:06under your skin. And the amount of branching paths and consequences is genuinely insane.
01:10Larian Studios basically said, what if we made every playthrough completely different?
01:14And then they actually did it. If you haven't played this yet and you call yourself an RPG fan,
01:18I honestly don't know what you're waiting for.
01:20So this little guy right here just casually won Game of the Year 2024 and honestly shocked everyone.
01:28Not because it's bad, but because a cute platformer beat out all these massive AAA titles. But here's
01:33the thing, after playing it, you totally get why. Astro Bot is what happens when a developer
01:37understands the PlayStation so well that they make a love letter to it. This is a masterclass in 3D,
01:433D platforming that makes you feel like a kid again. The way this game uses the DualSense controller
01:49is actually borderline witchcraft. You'll feel raindrops on the touchpad, the adaptive triggers
01:54make every action feel unique, and the haptic feedback is so good you can tell what surface
01:59you're walking on with your eyes closed. I'm not exaggerating. The creativity in every single
02:03level is off the charts. One minute you're a sponge soaking up water, the next you're a monkey
02:08climbing vines, and it never stops surprising you. Plus, if you grew up with PlayStation, this game is
02:13basically a nostalgia bomb. You'll be rescuing characters from every PlayStation generation,
02:18and it's genuinely heartwarming. It's pure joy in video game form, and after playing it,
02:23you'll understand exactly why it deserved that Game of the Year trophy.
02:27Alright, Final Fantasy fans, this is the big one. Rebirth launched in February 2024,
02:32with a 92 on Metacritic, and was literally the highest rated game of the entire first half of the
02:38year. If you thought Remake was good, Rebirth takes everything up about 10 notches. We're finally
02:43out of Midgar, the world is massive, and Cloud's story gets expanded in ways that will mess with your
02:48head in the best way possible. We're talking over 100 hours of content here, and not the boring
02:52filler kind. This is a proper open-world action RPG where every region feels distinct and alive.
02:58The combat is even more refined than Remake. The party dynamics are incredible, and the story hits
03:02some emotional beats that will absolutely wreck you. They've taken this beloved story and somehow
03:07made it feel fresh while still respecting what made the original special. The minigames alone could be
03:11their own separate releases. Queen's Blood Card Game? Addictive. Chocobo Racing? Better than it has any right to be.
03:17And those boss fights? Absolutely spectacular. If you've been waiting to jump into this new
03:21timeline of Final Fantasy VII, Rebirth is where things get really interesting. Just clear your
03:27schedule because this game will consume your life. Now here's a game that came out of nowhere and
03:32dominated 2025. Claire Obscure, Expedition 33, launched in April with a 92 Metacritic score and won
03:387 Golden Joystick Awards. 7! This game basically looked at traditional turn-based combat and said,
03:43what if we made it actually exciting? The result is this revolutionary hybrid system where you've
03:48got turn-based strategy, but with real-time combat elements that keep you constantly engaged. No more
03:53sitting there watching animations play out. You're actively involved in every attack and defense.
03:58The world is hauntingly beautiful with this unique Belle Époque-inspired aesthetic that you don't see
04:02in-game, ever. And the story is genuinely gripping. Without spoiling anything, that Expedition 33 thing?
04:08It's dark, it's mysterious, and it keeps you guessing the entire time. The character development is
04:12phenomenal, the voice acting is top-notch, and the whole game just oozes this atmosphere that sticks
04:18with you. What's crazy is, this is from a relatively new studio, and they've somehow created one of the
04:23most celebrated RPGs of the generation. If you're tired of the same old JRPG formula, this is the fresh
04:29take you've been waiting for. Let's rewind to November 2020, PS5 launch day. While everyone was messing
04:35around with Astro's Playroom, the hardcore crowd was jumping straight into Demon's Souls, and oh man,
04:41what a statement piece this was. Bluepoint Games took the 2009 classic that literally started the
04:46entire Souls genre, and rebuilt it from the ground up. We're not talking about a remaster here, this is
04:52a full remake that showcases what the PS5 can actually do. The graphics are absolutely stunning,
04:57the loading times are basically non-existent thanks to that SSD, and the gameplay feel is buttery smooth
05:03at 60 frames per second. But here's what I love, they didn't mess with the core formula. This is still
05:08that brutal, unforgiving experience that made you question your life choices. But now it looks like
05:13a piece of art. Every environment is meticulously detailed, the enemy designs are nightmare fuel in
05:19the best way, and those boss fights feel even more epic with the visual upgrade. If you've never
05:23experienced where it all began, this is the definitive way to play it. And for veterans, it's
05:28like seeing an old friend who got a complete makeover. Still kicks your butt, just looks way better
05:32doing it. This set the bar for what PS5 exclusives should be. So, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 dropped in
05:38October 2023, and immediately became the fastest selling PlayStation Studios game ever, ever. And
05:45honestly, when you play it, you totally understand why. This isn't just more Spider-Man, this is
05:49Insomniac saying, what if we gave you two Spider-Men and made everything bigger and better? Playing as
05:54both Peter Parker and Miles Morales with the ability to switch between them is genius, and they each feel
06:00completely different to play. Peter's got the symbiote suit, which is absolutely wild and changes
06:04the combat in ways I can't spoil. And Miles has perfected his Venom powers. The web swinging is
06:10somehow even better than before, which I didn't think was possible. New York feels more alive, there's
06:14way more variety in the activities and the story. Man, the story goes places. Dark places. The Venom
06:20storyline is handled perfectly, and the emotional stakes are through the roof. Plus, the boss fights are
06:25some of the best superhero game battles ever created. Each one feels like a climactic movie
06:29moment. And can we talk about how good this looks? The ray tracing, the character models,
06:34the little details in the city. It's all next level. If you loved the first game and Miles Morales,
06:39this is everything you wanted and more. It's basically the Empire Strikes Back of the trilogy.
06:43Just absolutely stellar. Okay, Kojima did it again. Death Stranding 2 came out in June 2025,
06:50and critics are calling it one of the defining games of the PS5 generation, sitting at a 90 on
06:55Metacritic. Now, the first Death Stranding was divisive, right? You either loved the delivery
07:00simulator vibes, or you thought it was the weirdest thing you'd ever played. Well, the sequel keeps all
07:04that Kojima weirdness, but adds so much more gameplay depth. We've moved from Iceland to Australia,
07:10and the environments are even more stunning and varied. But here's the big improvement. The combat is
07:14actually really good now. Like, genuinely fun. You're not just avoiding enemies anymore,
07:19you can take them on with a much more robust system. The traversal has been expanded too,
07:23with new tools and mechanics that make every journey feel different. And of course,
07:27the story is pure Kojima madness in the best way. Philosophical, emotional, confusing,
07:32brilliant, all at the same time. The cast is incredible, the soundtrack is hauntingly beautiful,
07:37and those signature Kojima moments will give you chill. If you bounced off the first game because
07:41it was too slow, this one might win you over. And if you loved the first one, you're in for an
07:45even better experience. It's weird, it's wonderful, and it's absolutely unforgettable.
07:51Fighting game fans gather around because Tekken 8 is everything you wanted, and then some. This
07:56came out in January 2024 with a 90 Metacritic score, and it's genuinely the new benchmark for
08:01fighting game. First new Tekken in nine years, and Bandai Namco clearly spent that time perfecting
08:06every single detail. Built on Unreal Engine 5, this game looks absolutely phenomenal. The character models
08:12are insane, the stages are gorgeous, and those super moves? Cinema quality action. But it's not just
08:17about looks, the new heat system completely changes how matches flow. You've got this aggressive new
08:22mechanic that rewards taking risks and staying on the offensive, and it makes every fight feel
08:26intense and dynamic. The roster is packed with returning favorites and some great newcomers, and
08:31every character feels unique and viable. Story mode is actually really engaging this time, with full
08:37cinematic presentation that rivals movie production. And the online netcode? Buttersmooth. This is huge
08:42because previous Tekken games had issues, but now you can play people across the world and it feels
08:46like you're sitting next to them. Whether you're a competitive player or just love beating up your
08:50friends on the couch, Tekken 8 delivers on every level. This is the fighting game to own on PS5.
08:56So The Last of Us Part 2 was already a masterpiece when it came out on PS4, but this remastered version
09:01that dropped in January 2024 is the definitive way to experience Ellie's brutal journey. Sitting at 90 on
09:07Metacritic, this isn't just a simple port with better graphics, though the PS5 enhancements do make it look stunning.
09:13What makes this special is all the new content they packed in. The big addition is No Return, which is this
09:19roguelike mode that completely changes how you play the game. You're doing randomized encounters with different
09:24characters and modifiers, and it's genuinely addictive. Who knew The Last of Us would work as a roguelike?
09:30Naughty Dog did, apparently. Then you've got full commentary tracks from the cast and developers, which is fascinating if you're into
09:35game design and storytelling. The behind-the-scenes content gives you this whole new appreciation for
09:41the insane detail that went into every aspect. And of course, the DualSense integration makes the
09:45combat feel even more intense. Every gunshot, every impact, you feel it. If you've never played Part 2
09:51because of the controversy, put that aside and experience one of the best stories in gaming.
09:55It's dark, it's emotional, it's uncomfortable at times, but it's absolutely worth it. And if you did play it on PS4,
10:01this version gives you great reasons to revisit it. This right here is the game that made everyone go,
10:07oh, that's what the PS5 can do. Rift Apart launched in June 2021 with an 88 Metacritic score,
10:13and it's still the ultimate showcase for that PS5 SSD. Insomniac created this dimension-hopping mechanic
10:19where you literally jump between worlds instantly. No loading screens, no tricks. You're just in one
10:25dimension and boom, you're in another. It's mind-blowing. And it never gets old. The action platforming is
10:31tight, the weapons are creative and ridiculous in the best Ratchet tradition, and the visuals are straight-up
10:37Pixar quality. Like, if you told me this was a playable Pixar movie, I'd believe you. We're also
10:41introduced to Rivet, who's basically an alternate dimension Ratchet, and she's immediately lovable. The banter between
10:47all the characters is genuinely funny, the story is engaging without being too complex, and every level
10:52introduces new mechanics to keep things fresh. The variety in gameplay is incredible. You're racing
10:57through space one minute, solving puzzles the next, then blasting enemies with a weapon that turns them
11:02into plants. It's pure fun from start to finish. And it's accessible too. Great for kids, but with enough
11:07challenge for adults. If you want a game that'll make you smile the entire time while showing off what your PS5
11:12can do, this is it. Final Fantasy XVI came out in June 2023 and immediately divided the fanbase, but hear me
11:20out. This game sitting at 88 on Metacritic is a mature, action-focused reinvention that honestly needed to
11:26happen. Square Enix looked at the franchise and said, what if we made this darker, faster, and more Devil May Cry?
11:32The result is the most visceral Final Fantasy ever made. The combat is pure real-time action. No more turn-based
11:38or ATB systems, and it feels incredible. You're controlling Clive and summoning these massive
11:44Icons for spectacular Kaiju-style battles that are legitimately jaw-dropping. We're talking screen-filling
11:50boss fights that feel like you're playing through the most epic anime battle ever. The story spans literal
11:55decades and gets dark. Like Game of Thrones dark. Political intrigue, revenge, mature themes, this isn't your
12:02typical colorful FF adventure. Some people miss the party system and open exploration, and I get that.
12:07But what you're getting instead is this focused, cinematic experience with some of the best action
12:12combat in any RPG. The world building is fantastic. The characters are complex and well-written.
12:18And those icon battles? You'll remember them for years. If you've been hesitant because it's different,
12:23give it a shot. Sometimes different is exactly what a series needs. This is Final Fantasy all grown up,
12:28and it's a wild ride. Ghost of Yotei dropped in October 2025 and proved that lightning can strike twice.
12:35Sitting at 87 on Metacritic, this standalone sequel takes place 300 years after Jin Sakai's story,
12:41and we've got a completely new protagonist named Atsu. Here's what's brilliant about this.
12:45Sucker Punch didn't just give us more Ghost of Tsushima. They evolved everything. The setting around
12:50Mount Yotei in Hokkaido is absolutely breathtaking with different seasons affecting gameplay and these vast
12:56snowy landscapes that are gorgeous and deadly. Atsu's journey, hunting the mysterious Yotei 6,
13:02is more personal and darker than Jin's story. And her fighting style has its own flavor while keeping what
13:07made the combat great. The standoffs are back and better, the stealth is more refined, and they've added
13:12new traversal mechanics that make exploration even more rewarding. What I love is how they respected the
13:17original while carving out their own identity. This isn't just DLC stretched into a full game. It's a proper sequel that stands on its own.
13:23The photo mode is somehow even better, which seems impossible, and you'll spend hours just capturing the beauty of this world.
13:30The story tackles different themes, the side quests are more meaningful, and everything feels intentional.
13:35If you love Tsushima, you're going to love this. It's everything a sequel should be.
13:39Okay, so when they announced Bloober Team was remaking Silent Hill 2, people were skeptical.
13:44Understandably so, this is one of the most beloved horror games ever made.
13:48But this remake that came out in October 2024 with an 86 on Metacritic? They absolutely nailed it.
13:54This is how you modernize a classic without losing what made it special.
13:57The over-the-shoulder camera makes it feel completely fresh, while the atmosphere is somehow even more oppressive and disturbing than the original.
14:05The fog, fog, the rust, the psychological horror, it's all here but elevated.
14:10James Sunderland's journey through his guilt and trauma hits even harder with modern graphics and performances.
14:16The voice acting is phenomenal. The monster designs are nightmare fuel, and those iconic moments you remember?
14:21They're here but reimagined in ways that feel new, even if you've played the original ten times.
14:25Bloober Team clearly studied this game intensely and understood what made it work.
14:29The pacing is perfect. The sound design will make you want to take your headphones off, and the multiple endings give you reasons to replay it.
14:36If you're a Silent Hill purist, I know change is scary, but trust me on this one.
14:40And if you've never experienced Silent Hill 2, this is the perfect way to understand why it's considered one of the greatest horror games ever made.
14:47Just maybe play it with the lights on.
14:49Returnal launched in April 2021 and immediately became this cult hit that people either bounced off hard or became completely obsessed with.
14:57It won BAFTA Best Game with an 86 Metacritic for good reason.
15:01This is Housemarque's Magnum Opus, a third-person roguelike shooter that will absolutely kick your butt and make you love it.
15:08You're playing as Selene, stuck in this time loop on a hostile alien planet, and every death sends you back to the start.
15:14But here's the thing. The story unfolds through these runs in ways that are genuinely mysterious and psychologically disturbing.
15:20It's not just die and try again. There's a narrative reason for everything.
15:24The combat is fast, frantic, and incredibly satisfying.
15:27Bullet hell meets third-person shooter, and it works perfectly.
15:30And the DualSense integration? Best in any game, period.
15:34You feel every raindrop, every alien screech, every weapon has unique haptic feedback. It's incredible.
15:40The procedurally generated levels keep things fresh, the weapon variety is great, and when you finally beat a boss after dying 20 times, the satisfaction is unreal.
15:49They added co-op later, which makes it more accessible, and there's even a tower mode for extra challenge.
15:53This game is hard, no sugarcoating it, but it's fair.
15:56And if you're willing to push through the difficulty, you'll find one of the most unique and rewarding experiences on PS5.
16:02Let's end with the game that welcomed everyone to PS5.
16:06Astro's Playroom comes pre-installed on every console and has an 84 on Metacritic, but don't let that fool you into thinking it's just a tech demo.
16:14This little game is pure joy and the best way to understand what your DualSense controller can actually do.
16:19Every single level is designed around a different feature.
16:22You'll blow into the mic, feel different textures through haptics, use the gyro controls, and it all feels natural and fun.
16:29But what makes this special is the celebration of PlayStation history.
16:33This is basically a playable museum where you're collecting artifacts from every PlayStation generation.
16:38See a PS2 or a pocket station or that weird boomerang controller that never happened? They're all here.
16:43The platforming is tight and creative, the music is catchy, and it's just the right length at about 4 hours.
16:49Nothing overstays its welcome. It's accessible for kids, but has enough challenge for adults chasing speed run times and collectibles.
16:56And it's completely free. How many pack-in games are actually this good?
17:00This is Sony saying,
17:01Welcome to PS5, here's why our controller is special, and here's a trip down memory lane.
17:06Whether you're a long time PlayStation fan or brand new to gaming, this is the perfect palette cleanser between heavy game.
17:12Plus that little robot is adorable.
17:14Don't sleep on this just because it came free.
17:16And there you have it. 15 absolutely incredible PS5 games that are worth every single penny.
17:21Look, I know that's a lot of games and probably a lot of money, but here's the thing.
17:25You don't need to buy them all at once. Grab one or two that sound interesting and you've got months of entertainment right there.
17:30Now I'm curious, which of these have you already played? And more importantly, which ones did I miss that you think deserve to be on this list?
