00:00In Venezuela, the second day of the People's Assembly for Sovereignty and Peace in our
00:16America is underway, with participants urging the peoples of the world to confront the US
00:21threats against the Latin American and Caribbean region.
00:28The Non-Governmental Human Rights Commission in El Salvador denounced the government of
00:32Daniel Novo as violations of the citizens' rights.
00:39And Argentinian retirees held a vigil outside Congress to protest against Javier Milay's
00:44government policies amid a new legislative debate on amending the Labour Law.
00:53Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra García from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:58We begin with the news.
01:09The Assembly of the People for Sovereignty and Peace of our America is being held in Caracas,
01:14Venezuela on its second day to face the US threats against Latin America and the Caribbean.
01:20During the event, Vice President Delsi Rodriguez thanked all participating delegations which,
01:25despite threats and blockades, supported the independence and sovereignty of the Bolivarian nation.
01:32The commissions met on Wednesday to discuss the proposals to counteract the militarization
01:37of the Caribbean Sea, the economic war and political extortion.
01:42Rodriguez also highlighted the failure of the ceremony to award the Nobel Peace Prize held in Oslo, Norway.
01:49No blockade can defeat solidarity. No blockade can defeat the love that other
02:01peoples of the world have for Venezuela. No threat or military aggression can destroy
02:06this love for our people. So thank you, dear brothers and sisters, who have come to our country with your message of love, solidarity, and support for Venezuela.
02:20In these times when Venezuela is not afraid, Venezuela is waging a great battle with the same passion and the same emotion as our liberators did.
02:35Thanking God for giving us this opportunity to reclaim our history, to reclaim our moral struggle for independence, for freedom.
02:45Rodriguez also affirmed that the Nobel Peace Prize was stained with blood by those who raised their voices in favor of genocide.
03:00The lady didn't show up. They say it was out of fear because Norway rose up, the people took to the streets to protest an award stained with blood.
03:12Those who attended the awards ceremony were those who have raised their hands in favor of genocide against the Palestinian people.
03:22They went there to applaud a bloody award. They were all dressed up, but they failed, they failed, and they will continue to fail.
03:30And we stay in Venezuela. The minister of foreign affairs, Ivan Hill, affirmed that today the continent is being threatened through the application of the Monroe Doctrine.
03:42The statement was made during an interview offered by Hill to the multi-platform Telesur in the context of the assembly of the peoples for the sovereignty and peace of our America being held in Caracas.
03:52Today our continent is once again under threat, threatened through the application of the Monroe Doctrine, an old structure that seeks to dominate an entire continent, and that has been advancing in various stages, from the application of sanctions, the demonization of popular governments, of the progressive governments of our America,
04:21and today the military deployment, the placement of military assets throughout the Caribbean to threaten, to break the will of the peoples.
04:30In another part of the interview, Venezuela's top diplomat said that the true international community of the peoples is meeting in Caracas to create a revolutionary alternative to the U.S. threats.
04:46And today, precisely, the international community, the true international community of peoples, is meeting here in Caracas to create an alternative, a revolutionary offensive, as we have said, a liberating offensive, a patriotic offensive, an offensive of the peoples that we have seen in all the debates, discussing issues of security, issues of migration, the issue of Monroeism, versus Bolivarianism.
05:05He'll also warn that what is at stake with the U.S. threats is not only the peace in the Caribbean but also the peace across the world and affirm that in the end of people's interest will prevail.
05:29What is really at stake right now in the Caribbean, in Northern South America, in this region, is the consolidation of world peace, global peace, in the face of threats, in the face of extortion through unilateral coercive measures, as they technically call illegal and illegitimate sanctions, in the face of attacks through social media, so-called fake news, the manipulation of young people.
05:55Well, here is a people responding, and we are sure that we will prevail.
06:02And the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela denounced and strongly condemned through a statement the attack on a Venezuelan oil tanker in the Caribbean Sea.
06:10This act was publicly announced by the President of the United States.
06:15The statement refers, this neo-criminal act adds to the theft of CITCO, an important asset of the strategic patrimony of all Venezuelans, seized through fraudulent judicial mechanisms and outside the bounds of an illegal norm.
06:29The statement continues, in these circumstances, the true reasons for the prolonged aggression against Venezuela have finally been revealed.
06:38It is not migration, it is not drug trafficking, it is not democracy, it is not human rights.
06:44It has always been about our national wealth, our oil, our energy, the resources that belong exclusively to the Venezuelan people.
06:52Finally, the statement concludes, the Bolivarian government reaffirms that it will appeal to all existing international bodies to denounce this grave international crime and will defend with absolute determination its sovereignty, its natural resources and its national dignity.
07:10Venezuela will not allow any foreign power to attempt to deprive the Venezuelan people of what belongs to them by historical and constitutional rights.
07:23And now we have a short break coming up.
07:25But first remember you can join us on TikTok at Telestore English where you'll find news in different formats, news updates and much more.
07:32We'll be right back, stay with us.
07:40Welcome back to From the South.
07:46In Norway, for the second consecutive day, thousands are demonstrating against the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to Venezuelan far-right opposition leader Maria Corina Machal.
07:57Representatives of social movements, political organizations and citizens from around the world have gathered in the capital, Oslo, to reject the Nobel Committee's decision.
08:07The rally kicked off in front of parliament heading towards the Nobel Institute, with thousands alleging the prize recipient contradicts the legacy and vision of Alfred Nobel.
08:18Waving flags of Venezuela, Cuba and Palestine, demonstrators condemn Machal Saini's remarks and her calls for foreign intervention in her homeland,
08:29and reaffirm their support for Venezuela in the face of the ongoing threats and aggression by the government of the United States.
08:36Meanwhile, in Italy, various political and youth organizations express their support for Venezuela in the face of the United States military threats.
08:56Social organizations in the city of Turin warned that the increasing tensions caused by the United States could escalate into military action against the Caribbean.
09:06They emphasized that Washington intends to restore imperialist policies in the region and therefore urged the international movements to remain vigilant regarding the actions of the Trump administration.
09:18And also near the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, thousands of citizens gathered to express their support for the Venezuelan people in the face of interfering threats from the United States government.
09:35The demonstrators demanded an end to political and economic pressure from Washington and described coups, embargoes, unilateral sanctions and economic measures as true crimes against peace.
09:52An always-day Venezuela president, Nicolás Maduro, demanded an end to U.S. interventionism and reaffirmed his call to build popular power to defend the country's sovereignty.
10:02During the Great March in tribute to the 166th anniversary of the Battle of Santa Inés, the Venezuelan president demanded an end to U.S. interventionism in Latin America and expressed his gratitude for the global demonstrations rejecting threats of military aggression.
10:20In turn, the head of state highlighted the protests in the United States and in Oslo, Norway, where the population expressed its support for peace.
10:29Maduro assured that the time is coming for the union of the peoples of South America, and he also called for the re-founding of the Great Colombia and the emancipation of the region.
10:39He also affirmed that the true power of the nation resides in its organized people and in the construction of a just and free communal state.
10:50With the song of the soul, to give a round of applause to the people of the United States, for their support to the people of Venezuela, and their struggle to prevent the madness of war in South America.
11:11From Venezuela, we ask and demand an end to the illegal and brutal interventionism of the United States government in Venezuela and Latin America.
11:24From Venezuela, we demand an end to regime change policies, coups, and invasions around the world. No more Vietnam, no more Somalia, no more Iraq, no more Afghanistan, no more Libya. Enough with foreign wars.
11:52Damn it. Enough with imperial wars. Enough with imperial massacres. We are right, and this country belongs to the noble, sovereign, and brave people of Venezuela, and this country will never be colonized by any empire.
12:20Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro also highlighted the support received from Norway, where citizens mobilized in rejection of foreign intervention in the country.
12:35Today was even more impressive. Yesterday, I publicly thanked the people of Oslo, and today I must thank and ask the people of Venezuela to give a round of applause to the people of Norway, to the people of Oslo,
12:54for supporting peace in Venezuela, for rejecting imperialist aggression, and for speaking out clearly about the truth of the peoples.
13:03The peoples.
13:04The peoples know who the Nazis are, who the fascists are, and the peoples know very well who we are.
13:16And when I was on my way here for the march, I also saw many images of a march in Oslo, twice as many people as yesterday, in protest, for having stained the Nobel Peace Prize with blood, and shouting no to war in Venezuela.
13:33Venezuela, thank you very much. Today, applause for the people of Oslo.
13:40We change of topic and go to Mexico. The president, Claudia Sheyma, rejected any foreign interference against the country, following statements by her U.S. counterpart, Donald Trump, about a possible military intervention.
13:54In direct response to the insistence of U.S. President Donald Trump, who reiterated his willingness to order attacks against drug cartels in Mexico, the president reaffirmed her position and emphasized that the entry of foreign troops or attacks is an impossible scenario under her government.
14:11She assured that the lack of need for such actions and the agreements in force between the two nations support her refusal.
14:20Venezuela celebrates UNESCO's designation of the traditional musical genre, Joropo, as intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
14:46Cultural authorities, artists, dancers, and the general public attended Caracas and Carlos barracks to celebrate the designation approved by UNESCO's Intergovernmental Committee during its 20th session in New Delhi, India.
15:01The documentation was submitted to the United Nations body in 2023, showing as examples the Joropo from the country's regions of the East, Guayana, Andes, Central Los Llanos, and Central West.
15:14During the celebrations, Venezuelan Minister of Culture Ernesto Villegas emphasized that Venezuela now shares its cultural diversity with the world.

15:55Welcome back to From the South.
15:57The Non-Governmental Human Rights Commission in El Salvador denounced the government of Daniel Novo as violations of the citizens' rights.
16:04The condemnation comes in the context of the 77th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 44th anniversary of the Mossote massacre.
16:14According to the organization, there has been a marked setback in human rights, the rule of law and democracy under the Bukele administration.
16:22The commission also condemned the persecution of opposition voices, which has resulted in the imprisonment and mass exodus of different actors in the country's public life,
16:33who have expressed their disagreement with Bukele's authoritarian policies, using the state of emergency to maintain total control.
16:46And in Argentina, retirees held a vigil outside Congress to protest against Javier Millet's government policies amid a new legislative debate on amending labor law.
16:56The group of retirees marched to the National Congress to defend the labor rights and social security of prisoners.
17:03In this context, the demonstrators carried flags, posters and tents in the square near the Congress buildings.
17:10The retirees also urged the public to join the vigil as a way of showing their position on the extraordinary sessions that will debate bills that imply a setback in social rights.
17:21In Argentina, a policy is being implemented that leaves many people out more than there were before.
17:36It is a harsh policy of exclusion that serves the interests of money and many foreign interests, as well as the elite here.
17:44Do you want me to tell you what life is like for a pensioner in Argentina?
17:47Many of us survive thanks to the help of our children. Imagine that I get 120,000 pesos for electricity. I have 24,000 pesos to buy a gas cylinder. And I have medication and I don't eat. That is the life of a retired person. We eat and survive thanks to our children.
18:03In Uruguay, the Federation of Diary Industry Workers holds a protest against unjustified layoffs by the company Cloudy.
18:13Employees of the company are demanding the reinstatement of their colleagues to their jobs, claiming that the dismissals were carried out illegally.
18:20In this context, they set up a campaign tent in front of the presidential palace, named the Tent of Dignity, where workers called for a rally supported by the Confederation of Industrial Unions.
18:32The protest actions include the start of a hunger strike by those affected by the layoffs, and a partial work stoppage for 24 hours.
18:45And now we go to Honduras, where the President Xiomara Castro said she will denounce the ongoing electoral coup and U.S. interference in the Honduran democratic process before the international community.
18:57The Honduran President stated that she will launch a diplomatic offensive before international organizations such as CELACA and the United Nations to denounce the interference of U.S. President Donald Trump, who released former drug lord Juan Orlando Hernández.
19:14Xiomara Castro also condemned the actions of her U.S. counterpart in pressuring Honduras to vote in favor of Nasrías Fura.
19:22In this way, Castro described the irregularities that led to a fraud that is favoring the candidate as Fura, who was promoted by President Trump.
19:37We are experiencing a process marked by threats, coercion, manipulation of the Trump system, and alteration of the will of the people.
19:46These actions constitute an ongoing electoral coup that we will denounce to the United Nations, the European Union, CELAC, the OAS, and other international organizations.
20:00My duty as President and as woman who emerged from the resistance is to defend democracy, national dignity, and the sovereign will of the people.
20:18That is an unbreakable mandate in our Constitution.
20:22Meanwhile, former President Manuel Celaya called on the communities of Tegucigalpa and Comayabuela to mobilize with the aim of denouncing fraud in the elections held on November 30th.
20:37Through his social media accounts, Celaya stated that the Libre Party does not accept the results announced by the TREP system, asserting that the alteration of the source code of the transmission system was part of a plan to manipulate the elections.
20:53In this regard, Marlon Ochoa, a member of the National Electoral Council, backed up the concern by confirming that the software was modified without the authorization of the C&E plenary.
21:05Ochoa also detailed that 13,000 records presented inconsistencies and that structural faults were detected in the system since the simulation carried out on November 9th.
21:15And in Bolivia, former Minister Marianela Prado reported on Wednesday afternoon that former President Luis Arce had been arrested in the Sobocaci area of La Paz and taken to the special force for the fight against crime headquarters.
21:34The former president was carried out irregularly pointing out that he was put into a vehicle without any official communication and that the measure constitutes an arbitrary act that affects transparency and due process.
21:50Marianela Prado also assured that she will continue to follow the case and demanded that the authorities provide clear answers about the former president's whatabouts.
22:00In this regard, the press sources indicated that the arrest occurred in the context of the investigation into the so-called Indigenous Fund case,
22:10which resumed this week with the arrest of former Congresswoman Lydia Patti.
22:15The

22:38No. Let's talk about Palestine. The Environmental Quality Authority warned about the environmental crisis in the Gaza Strip due to the more than
22:44due to the more than 60 million tons of rubble left by Israeli devastation.
22:48According to the agency, at least 50,000 tons of materials are carcinogenic,
22:54while around 100,000 tons are explosives and unexploded ordnance.
23:00The Environmental Authority also emphasized that the Zionist forces destroyed 80 percent
23:05of the territory's water and sanitation systems.
23:08In this context, experts point out that this situation has caused a major leakage of chemicals,
23:15fuel and asbestos into the soil and surface waters, posing a very serious health threat to residents.
23:28And in Palestine, heavy rains caused as well. The atmospheric depression are worsening,
23:32leaving conditions for hundreds of thousands of internally displaced people in Gaza,
23:37heavy nighttime rainfall flooded large areas of the tent settlements, destroying the personal
23:43belongings of families who lacked the basic means of protection against the cold and rain.
23:48In this sense, the spokesman for the civil defense in Gaza, Mahmoud Basal,
23:53described the dramatic situation, pointing out that the conflict has partially stopped,
23:59but is returning in another form through flooding, cold and landslides. Moreover,
24:04it is estimated that Gaza needs around 300,000 prefabricated tents and housing units to guarantee minimum shelter.
