00:00Chief Secretary Farley-Augustin must apologize to the people of Tobago for the absence of details surrounding the installed military radar at the A&R Robinson International Airport.
00:12This from leader of the Innovative Democratic Alliance, Dr. Denise Sawyer-Fartangas, who on Wednesday stood side by side with two other political parties calling for the removal of the military radar installed in Tobago.
00:26And so today we call on the Chief Secretary to apologize to the people of Tobago for being silent on the issue.
00:37We call on the Chief Secretary to address the issue with his leaders in Trinidad, that he said they are his friends, that the people of Tobago do not want that piece of equipment here.
00:53It needs to be removed.
00:55PNM Tobago Council political leader Ansel Dennis said Tobago remains at risk.
01:01It puts Tobago, because we have this military installation right on our island, it puts Tobago in a position where we are open to attack from the opponents of whoever owns that military equipment installed at our airport.
01:17Mr. Dennis is calling on Chief Secretary Farley-Fartangas to speak directly to the operations of the radar.
01:25To this Chief Secretary, it's for him to open his mouth.
01:29We are calling on him to open his mouth and state his clear position on this situation.
01:37Does he support what appears to be demilitarization of our island?
01:45Does he support that?
01:47And if he does not support it, then why isn't he calling on the government to take the necessary action to prevent this from happening without the permission of the people of Tobago?
01:59Leader of the class action reform movement, Ricardo Phillips, said there appears to be some secret agenda where the radar installation is concerned.
02:09You promised that you will go in there and fix whatever problem we have.
02:14That is your promise, that you will fix Tobago.
02:17And four years we waited on the fixing, and to compound that, you have some kind of secret agenda that nobody knows about.
02:23So my position this morning is to call on the Prime Minister, first and foremost, call on the two representatives of the Tobago East and West,
02:31and to call on Mr. Farley, who is the Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, to clarify, to explain, and to apologize to the people.
