Seth and Sean get first crack at the ITL question of the day about what their big "take my money" expenditure is.
Transcript
00:00What's the question of the day, fellas?
00:01Well, you saw Mark Cuban is just telling the University of Indiana,
00:06take all my money.
00:09He funded the entire business.
00:10Apparently he gave them a good healthy amount.
00:13I don't know what it was.
00:14Last year?
00:15And dug in even deeper this year.
00:17The quote is, let's just say they're happier this year than last year.
00:20This is the NIL people.
00:21This is the collective for the sports teams.
00:23So what's your take all my money expenditure?
00:26You go somewhere, a thing, a person, an event like this.
00:32I have a single one.
00:34I'm not the most responsible spender in the world.
00:36Seth knows that.
00:37I've got many a story of irresponsible spending.
00:40My thing that got handed to me, when we moved into our new place,
00:44Amy and I, where we live now, we've lived there five years.
00:47When we moved in, put up a picture of our big screen TV on the wall,
00:51thinking like, hey, we moved into the new place.
00:53This is our big screen TV we already had.
00:54I posted it just to say, like, hey, we moved into our new place,
00:57had wires hanging down and everything.
00:59Like Reggie.
01:00Well, my cable management is better now.
01:05A guy who works for a big, not a big, but a local audiovisual company says,
01:09hey, man, I can help you with that.
01:10And I said, oh, I've always wanted the multiple TVs on the wall.
01:13So he said, well, I'll send you something.
01:14I'll send you a proposal.
01:16And he sent me this proposal.
01:17And I'm thumbing through it, and there's like five different options
01:19with the speakers and everything else and blah, blah, blah.
01:21Give me the big one.
01:22Give me the biggest one.
01:23Yeah, like, yes, yes.
01:26Give me the biggest one.
01:27I will tell you.
01:28And I.
01:28TV.
01:29Entertainment.
01:29It was irresponsible at the time.
01:31And yet, and yet, I have gotten years of enjoyment out of that setup.
01:35It's been awesome.
01:36So I have no regrets about it.
01:38But that was one where.
01:40And I knew I didn't show the proposal to Amy either.
01:43I just said, hey, we're getting a new setup in here.
01:45That's all.
01:46It was a lot of money.
01:47I do.
01:49Sometimes it's warranties on anything where I know it's not financially the smart thing
01:53to do.
01:54But there's also where I know my weaknesses in getting things done.
01:58And there's something about where with warranties, I know that, all right, I'm going to just,
02:04it's there.
02:04It's paid for.
02:05If it breaks, I'm just going to, I take it to the dealer.
02:08I send it to the, send it to the computer company or whatever.
02:11So I'm, it's probably, it's, it's not financially responsible for most people, but I'm a pretty
02:17aggressive warranty purchaser because I know that I'm, I know that I'm not going to get
02:21it fixed if I have to do any kind of thinking about it at all.
02:24That is a bit of a splurge.
02:26Mine is more gluttonous.
02:28I, if, if, if like Jan goes somewhere and she wants to go into some shops or something,
02:34I find the nearest gourmet food or cheese shop and I just start loading.
02:39Cheese, I've said it on the air before, cheese and pastries is my absolute, it's going to
02:45kill me.
02:45It's my absolute down.
02:46Shovel it into the bag.
02:47If you open the drawer in our refrigerator, I have cheeses in there that I'll never eat.
02:52But I'm like, ooh.
02:52Are they still good?
02:53Do you know which ones are allowed to age and which ones don't?
02:56Yeah, kind of, sort of.
02:57That's not a good answer.
03:00I need a real definitive answer on that one.
03:02I don't have one.
03:03No, the dumbest, the dumbest thing I ever bought was kidnapping insurance.
03:07How does one, how does one cash in on that?
03:11Well, it's if somebody has to get kidnapped.
03:13Oh, well, you know, I was going to, I was planning on taking a, going to South America
03:17in the off season.
03:18And I was talking to somebody and he was like, you know, you really should think about it
03:21because like, and let's be real.
03:23It wasn't, I, I wasn't going to be out backpacking on a trek through the mountains or something,
03:29but I don't know.
03:30So I bought it and then I didn't even take the trip.
03:33So that ended up being a really stupid purchase.
03:35How easy are a lot of the warranties that you do cash, you know, because that's one
03:39of the things that always, it's the easiest thing in the world.
03:43Yeah.
03:44It just, and a lot of times it is just put it in a box, send it to Apple or wherever
03:48and just, yeah, there you go.
03:50That's where it's, it's, I'm always pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to work with most
03:54We're all paying for that, by the way.
03:56Yes, we are.
03:57Yes, we are.
03:57We're all paying for it.
03:58So that's, I was like, maybe I've had just a bad experience.
04:01No, you're not.
04:02How are you all paying for it?
04:03Because the reason they can be so easy and laissez faire on anything that gets sent back
04:07to them is because they charge us just the rest of us.
04:10It's all built by the warranties.
04:12That part of it, it's all the, the, the way they've calculated and everything for all
04:16that is the people buying the warranties and I'm overpaying for it on average, but I don't
04:20care.
04:20It's the convenience.
04:21Yeah.
04:22Don't, don't put your, don't, don't, you're being exactly like the Sean Pendergast in my dream
04:27last night.
04:28Yeah.
04:28Yeah.
04:29Welcome to your nightmare, buddy.
04:31Yeah.
04:32Yeah.
04:33Okay.
04:34Good.
04:34Well, I'm, I'm anxious to hear what the big splurges are around here.
04:38That'll be good.
04:39By the way, you guys are, the text message, you guys are so out of touch.
04:42So now every homeless person is a crackhead, huh?
04:46GTFOA.
04:47Someone taking up for the homeless right now.
04:49Oh, good.
04:50Are you sure she was a crackhead?
04:51Somebody needs to.
04:52Well, you know, all these days, John, quit being so insensitive.
04:56First of all, it was just kind of a laissez faire term.
04:58We just kind of threw it out there.
05:00Yeah.
05:00Yeah.
05:00But secondly, she certainly had all the markings.
05:03Yeah.
05:03Yeah.
05:04Yeah.
05:04Yeah.
05:04All the markings.
05:05Keith issues.
05:05Oh, yeah.
05:06Everything else.
05:06Okay.
05:07Yeah.
05:07There you go.
05:07Sounds like a heroin.
05:10Drug expert.
05:12Duck Hodges is doing okay.
05:13He's dating Laney Wilson right now.
05:14Good for him.
05:15Yeah.
05:15That's good, man.
05:16That's good.
05:16Yeah.
05:16That's good.
05:16Yeah.
05:16That's good, man.
05:16Yeah.
05:17That's good, man.
05:18That's good.
