00:00And I don't always watch games from the Texans or C.J. Stroud vantage point,
00:05but that was hard not to look at and think.
00:08There ain't no way C.J. sitting here knowing, all right, man,
00:11this next year or two, this is it, man.
00:14This is when I'll have the power.
00:15This is when I may have to make the decision on what kind of team
00:18that I want to be around.
00:20And I look at that son of a gun and everything he has around him.
00:24And he's got the number two rushing defense,
00:26offense, and they go and get over 100 yards over against that team
00:30who ain't allowed 100 yards, I don't know, for a couple of years.
00:32They go and got Roma Dunze, and he's got Luther Burton all of a sudden.
00:37And now they've got Khalif Raymond.
00:38And I bet you Nick Cayley was looking like, damn,
00:42is that how I should use Jay Leno?
00:43And they just got everything over there.
00:47Two years ago, she said his ass keep getting hit.
00:49They fired Shane Walton.
00:51Don't tell me it can't happen quick.
00:53They did that in under two years.
00:56I know CJ's got to be sitting there thinking, damn it.
01:00I got to figure out a way that I can get that.
01:03You can't watch Trevor and think, damn, look at what he gets.
01:08That life just looks easy against those defense.
01:12We're in there fighting it.
01:15CJ's sitting over there having a catbird seat.
01:18Timing couldn't be any better for me.
01:21Hey, Ron.
01:23I'm going to tell you, you hit the nail on the head.
01:25I'm going to tell you, it started out with jealousy.
01:28When I saw, what was it, DeAndre Swift?
01:30Is that his name?
01:32When I saw Swift bounce out with that inside run outside and catch a corner for that touchdown,
01:37easy.
01:38Just outrun.
01:38Oh, yeah.
01:39Did it twice, I think.
01:40I thought, you know, that's not Saquon Barkley.
01:44That's not Derrick Henry.
01:46That's not B. John Robinson.
01:48That's not Jameer Gibbs.
01:49I mean, that's a reasonable want if you're a team that's hell-bent on running the football.
01:55And we just ain't been able to find that guy for about three years.
01:59Or Kyle Manunga behind him.
02:00So, it starts with that kind of stuff, right?
02:04But then I've got to listen to the commentators.
02:06And this is the kind of stuff that just, I don't want to, Ron, I don't want to do this
02:14out of convenience.
02:16Because, as I mentioned, this is the quarterback, the only quarterback in the league that was
02:20sacked more than C.J. Stratton, I believe, two years ago.
02:23And they did exactly what you and I hoped the Texans would do.
02:26They went out and signed the best offensive, a couple of veteran, big-time veteran offensive
02:29linemen paid them.
02:30But, I believe Joe Tooney was arguably the most sought-after offensive lineman in the
02:35league at that point in time.
02:36Playing guard and tackle, pro-bowl, both directions.
02:38Four-time all-pro at the time.
02:40So, they went and got him and a center.
02:41He's added.
02:43And now you're sitting there watching them.
02:45And I have to watch them go get Jeffrey Simmons, which I believe is the most impactful position
02:50on defense, that interior presence at that level.
02:53And so, I'm jealous anyway.
02:54But then I've got to listen to the guys, because you see how this is how it happens.
02:59When you're calling a game, right, the night before, you go to the team hotel and you sit
03:06down with the coaches.
03:07You sit down in this room with the producers, you, probably about four or five guys, a representative
03:12from the team.
03:13And then when the coach gets ready, probably both coordinators and the head coach, depending
03:17on, you know, who's who, each one of them will come walking in, sit down at the end of
03:21the table, and you get to spend 30 minutes with them.
03:24You get to break good bread with them.
03:26So, that's how the commentators get all that inside information.
03:29And Troy and Buck, they may be fighting internally, but they sure are putting on a show about the
03:35meetings that they had.
03:36And I've got to listen to them talk about Ben Johnson.
03:38All right?
03:39I did not know this, and I don't even know if I may have misheard a little bit.
03:42But are the Bears, are they leading the league in time of possession?
03:46I think so.
03:47I believe they alluded to either leading the league in time of possession or being one of
03:55the top time of possession offenses in football.
03:58And they said Ben Johnson's response was, because this was during that opening drive where they
04:05went 17 plays and scored a touchdown, right?
04:07The response that they got when they asked Ben Johnson about leading the league in time
04:12of possession, he said, I'd rather have one explosive play for a touchdown than a 10-play
04:17drive for a touchdown.
04:19And I thought, that'd be nice.
04:21That 17 play probably pissed him.
04:23That'd be nice to have that mentality.
04:25Around here, it looks, I believe we are searching for the 13-plus play drive.
04:29I believe that's what we're working for.
04:30Could you imagine they kick off this game with a 17-play drive?
04:34And they score from the one?
04:35I mean, I mean.
04:36Oh, God, Tyler.
04:37I mean, there wouldn't be enough napkins to clean up that field.
04:40Boners galore on that Texans side.
04:43I mean, there's not enough napkins out there to clean up that fast.
04:46Boners.
04:46Owls would need to be thrown in.
04:48Hey, bro, show.
04:50They go on the next drive, and they're talking about the Bears' run game.
04:58This one got me, man.
04:59This one hurt my heart right here.
05:01I don't even know what the original comment about the run game was,
05:07but it was about Ben Johnson play calling, running the football.
05:10And he said, yeah.
05:11He said, Ben Johnson looking dead in the eye and said, man,
05:14I ain't calling runs to stay ahead of the chains.
05:17He's trying to break them.
05:19Coach, he said, I'm calling runs to get explosive plays.
05:22I mean, could you imagine having that kind of, like, you know as a fan
05:29or even as a media member when you're covering a team is like, that's football in 2026, man.
05:37And we're over here literally putting a sixth offensive lineman on the field 46% of the time,
05:42pulling off your best targets.
05:45Nico Collins.
05:46I don't think he's on the field once with 71.
05:48But in order to run the football, I mean, could you – I'm sitting there watching that Bears game last
05:54night,
05:54and I can't just enjoy good football.
05:55My heart is hurting because I got to listen to this crap over here these guys talk about offensive football.
06:01I'm just sorry, man.
06:02There's no way C.J. doesn't watch this, and this doesn't affect his thought process one way or another.
06:08I'm not saying that means he's leaving here.
06:10I'm saying there is, like, when you – when athletes finally – I don't care if it's Christian or whatever.
06:18At some point, like, he's going to want out of this – when I say this situation, I'm not talking
06:25about Houston.
06:26I'm talking about out of the situation of the up and down parts around him
06:31and really the below average parts around him.
06:34And there's no way he can watch this since 2024.
06:38This happened in 2024, Clint.
06:41What are you talking about?
06:42The entire turnaround for them.
06:44Oh, for the Bears?
06:45Since 2024, they fire Matt Eberflus, and they hire Ben Johnson.
06:51He overhauls the coaching staff.
06:53By the way, they've lost Eric Bien-Ami, who was their running back coach,
06:57that helped them have a great run game.
06:59They still got a great run game.
07:01They lost Declan Doyle, who was the O.C., went to Baltimore.
07:04Press Taylor.
07:05He's been an O.C. 57 times somewhere.
07:08Want to know why their offense hasn't dropped an inch?
07:11Because of Ben Johnson.
07:12Because he's always going to be there.
07:13He's always going to be there, no matter what kind of coaches they roll around.
07:17Caleb knows the person who really runs the offense is always going to be there.
07:21In the trenches.
07:22We've talked about this.
07:23Remember, we were saying, man, they need to go and do it like the Bears are doing.
07:26No, they went and got Lakin Tomlinson and company, and this is what they did.
07:31They went out Joe Tooney immediately.
07:33Jonah Jackson.
07:34They drafted guys.
07:36Weapons.
07:37They had D.J.
07:37Morehill.
07:38They traded him.
07:39They got Luther Burton in the draft.
07:41Colston Loveland.
07:42This has all happened since.
07:45And Caleb Williams has taken off.
07:46Oh, my God.
07:47He's taken off from that first year where he got sacked over 60 times.
07:50Oh, and then as you said, they said, well, let's kick this thing up a notch and add Jeffrey
07:55Simmons to the fold.
07:56They got the number one center two years ago.
08:00He retired.
08:01They went and got another one.
08:03That wasn't Evan Brown.
08:06I just wanted to enjoy Monday Night Football.
08:09I mean, D'Amico Ryans and Nick Casario have ruined Monday Night Football.
08:12He has.
08:12I mean, if I'm.
08:13Sorry, D'Amico.
08:14You're the head coach.
08:15I got to put you in that mix.
08:16I know it was Nick.
08:16If I'm CJ, I'm just throwing my shoes at the set.
08:20Oh.
08:20Everything off until I'm butt ass naked.
08:23Shoes.
08:23Hats.
08:24Wallet.
08:25All of it.
08:25You got to be kidding me.
08:27Because.
08:27CJ, why are you sitting there in your drawers?
08:29Because I don't do everything.
08:31Because I can't take it no more.
08:35All joking aside, Ron.
08:36He's got to be.
08:36Hey, all joking aside.
08:38Mulaghetta ain't doing his job if he ain't presenting what we just did this first second.
08:42Hey, man.
08:43His ass out there trotting 71 and 57 out there repeatedly.
08:47That's what he's out here trotting out.
08:48They need to call that package 71-19.
08:51Hey, man.
08:52They said to themselves.
08:53This is like.
08:54Imagine this.
08:56Hey, they said.
08:57Hey, man.
08:57I know you won AFC player of the week.
09:00Last week.
09:01Last week.
09:01And I know you.
09:02I mean, pinpoint accuracy for the world to see.
09:05You're over 300 yards.
09:06Three touchdowns.
09:07We get our biggest win of the year.
09:09Here we go.
09:10What are we going to do?
09:13Run that bitch.
09:18Come on, Doc.
09:20Come on, Doc.
09:22Hey, come on, Doc.
09:23That's what they said.
09:25That's what CJ's living with.
09:28That's what CJ's living with.
09:30The bad thing is, Ron.
09:31We're going to run it.
09:31Hey, Ron.
09:32They all looked at each other like we just did right there.
09:34Hey, when Nick Casario walked in and said that right there.
09:37Kaylee and McDaniels.
09:40And what's Applebaum's name?
09:42What's his name?
09:45Popovich.
09:45Popovich.
09:46Yeah, man.
09:47They all said, hell yeah, Nick.
09:49Let's get it.
09:50It's your time, man.
09:50Yeah.
09:51It's a great idea, man.
09:53Hell yeah.
09:54This is the week.
09:54Give me a hell yeah.
09:55That's right.
09:57That's right.
09:58Casario, he is a big wrestling fan.
09:59He may have brought Stone Cold in there, paid him $10,000 appearance fee to get the boys
10:03hyped up about it.
10:04I mean, just imagine what he's sitting there looking at.
10:06I hope he didn't watch that Colts-Jags game this week either to see what Liam is drawing
10:11up for Trevor.
10:14God, dog, man.
10:16Please, help.
10:18I'm going to start wearing a Help Wanted t-shirt out there for CJ.
10:22I mean, I had never felt like somebody needed to be free that was free.
10:26God bless, brother.
10:30I just can't believe it.
10:31I'm trying to think what that was.
10:33There was a Cam Ward t-shirt that they highlighted in the Texans-Titans game.
10:39What did it say, though?
10:40I remember I took a note.
10:41I was going to talk about it on the show, and we never got to it.
10:43But it was, I can't remember what it said.
10:46It was something about Cam and call for help or something.
10:51AFC Player of the Week.
10:52Next week's game plan.
10:54Shut it down, baby.
10:54Give him 44%.
10:56Game plan offense, man.
10:5744%.
10:59Six offensive linemen, and we're going to run it 90% of the time out of it.
