00:00By the way, in Major League Baseball yesterday, only one guy got into the Hall of Fame.
00:07Yeah.
00:07That guy was not Don Mattingly.
00:09No.
00:10That guy was not Roger Clemens.
00:12Nope.
00:12That guy was not Barry Bonds.
00:14Nope.
00:15But the guy they walked Barry Bonds with the bases loaded to pitch to did get in.
00:21Yeah.
00:22Jeff Kent.
00:22And I'm one of these guys like, do I think that Jeff Kent is a Hall of Famer?
00:26No, I do not.
00:27But he's in the Hall of Fame, so congratulations to Jeff Kent.
00:31But at some point, can we please get this right?
00:35You can't have the guy that benefited from pitchers walking Barry Bonds with the bases loaded
00:42because they'd rather pitch to you, get into the Hall of Fame, and not put Barry Bonds in the Hall of Fame.
00:48You cannot keep Roger Clemens and his seven Cy Young Awards out of the Hall of Fame.
00:55Now, could you debate Mattingly?
00:57Yes.
00:57It's a fair debate.
00:59Yankee fans feel like 84 to 89, I think of the years, I have those right, five best years of his career.
01:05He was as good as anybody.
01:05Got an MVP, got a batting title.
01:08You know, was not even arguably top three in the sport for a five-year spam.
01:13Obviously, the back problems, long-term, not a stat compiler.
01:17So, it doesn't have the raw numbers to get in.
01:20But if you watch baseball in the 80s, there was Tony Gwynn.
01:25There was Don Mattingly.
01:27There was Kirby Puckett.
01:29There was, you know, the Hulk Andre Dawson.
01:32Yeah, like, so again, you could argue it.
01:35He only got like 20% of the vote.
01:36So, Don Mattingly, sadly, is never going to get in unless he gets in after he dies and someone feels bad for his family.
01:43Sadly, Don Mattingly is never going to get in.
01:46No, I mean, that's how it goes.
01:48That's a cold game.
01:50During Jeff Kent's prime, by the way, he had more, another stat, more chances for RBIs than anyone else in the sport during that time because of Barry Bonds.
01:59And now he's in the hall, and as you said, Barry not.
02:01Barry Bonds will get in at some point when the current writers die.
02:06He'll likely, it'll probably be like Pete Rose.
02:07Isn't it funny, though, how, like, we had like three or four-year period where society got so woke,
02:11and the only place that didn't really get woke were the Baseball Writers Association of America.
02:17They were like, we're not putting a steroid user in the Hall of Fame.
02:20No matter what.
02:21No matter what.
02:22Even though I benefited from it.
02:23Why, it doesn't matter.
02:24I got my job in large part because of those steroids, but I'm against them.
