00:15in response to the threats of aggression by the United States.

00:26against the National Electoral Council for irregularities in the electoral process.
00:34Russia and India agreed to increase their trade exchange to an equivalent of $100 billion by 2030.
00:45Hello and welcome to From the South, from the headquarters of the Sringlish in Havana, Cuba.
00:50My name is Pablo Micheliche. We begin with the news. Stay with us.
00:56Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro activated what is known as the Integral Defense Doctrine
01:10in response to the threat of aggression by the United States.
01:14Maduro instructed security forces to study and practice prolonged popular resistance
01:19and prevent offensively in the face of Washington's threats in the region.
01:25The Venezuelan leader also explained that his model of power is comprehensive
01:29and not limited to public institutions, as it involves communal social power and social movements.
01:36He also maintained that his government dismantled the main criminal against,
01:40such as the now-deformed Tren Daragua and Tren Dalliano,
01:44and offered his security model to neighboring countries.
01:47He denounced that the 2015 Opposition National Assembly stole $14 million
01:53from bloc accounts to distribute among its leaders.
01:57No one or nothing will take it from us. Not today. Not ever.
02:07Have the certainty, the absolute certainty, that no one will take the land or the destiny
02:15of the Venezuelan people. Sacred land. Sacred destiny.
02:19Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro affirmed that represent the nation
02:26had the most advanced police and security system in all its history.
02:31Today, December 5th of 2025, I can say to Commander Chávez whatever he is watching us.
02:41Today, we have the police system and the public security more complete
02:47and advanced in all of the history of the Republic of Venezuela
02:52and all of the historical times of the Bolivarian Revolution, thanks to you.
02:57Police of the homeland, thanks to you.
03:00The National Bolivarian Armed Forces of Venezuela, as part of Operation Bolivarian Shield 2025,
03:06detected and intercepted an aircraft without an identification cord heading west of the country.
03:13A commander-in-chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, Domingo Antonio Hernández Lárez,
03:18reported that the aircraft was detected in the territory of Ready No. 3, Los Llanos, in the state of Apure.
03:25Hernández emphasized that appropriate legal verifications were made to control the information
03:31and that it was a two-engine Cessna 310 aircraft without a visible registration number,
03:38which did not comply with the protocols established by the law on control
03:42for the integral defense of Venezuelan airspace.
03:45In this regard, they ordered a false landing in the municipality of Pedro Camejo
03:49in the state of Apure to immobilize it on the ground.
03:53The Belgian Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity rejected the military
04:03threats carried out by the United States government against the Caribbean region, especially Venezuela.
04:09In a statement, they declared that the United States is preparing a military escalation against
04:14Venezuela in the name of the war on drugs.
04:17Off the Venezuelan coast lies part of the U.S. war fleet, including the world's largest
04:22aircraft carrier and a nuclear submarine.
04:2610,000 troops are ready to attack.
04:29Meanwhile, nearly 100 people have been killed by the bombing of what the United States calls
04:34drug ships without providing the slightest evidence.
04:38Furthermore, they stated it is evident that Trump and his administration are not concerned
04:43about either drug trafficking or democracy.
04:46A military escalation is part of the reconquest of Latin America
04:51as their colonial backyards.
04:53More specifically, they want access to Venezuela's oil and gas reserves and the rare earth metals
05:00found in its subsoil.
05:02The Colombian government issued a strong warning to the international community, rejecting any attempt to use foreign
05:14military force on its territory without its complicit consent.
05:18Foreign Minister Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio asserted that such an action would constitute
05:23a direct violation of the Charter of the United Nations and the principles that guarantee global stability.
05:28Villavicencio also expressed that her country is growing concern about the normalization of unauthorized extraterritorial
05:37interventions, recalling that these actions have already caused casualties in recent months
05:43in areas of the Caribbean and the Pacific.
05:46The Colombian Foreign Minister emphasized that respectful sovereignty and the peaceful resolution
05:51of deputies are not mere courtesy, but binding obligations for all states.
05:58Furthermore, she defended Colombia's track record on the fight against drug trafficking and effort.
06:03She described it as rigorous and based on cooperation,
06:07and that none of these can justify threats or interference that contradict international law.
06:12On behalf of the government and people of Colombia, I firmly and categorically reject any suggestion
06:25of using military force within Colombian territory, under any pretext whatsoever.
06:30No state may carry out armed operations in the territory of another state without its express consent.
06:43Such action would directly violate the Charter of the United Nations and the fundamental principles
06:48that sustain international peace and stability.
06:52Colombia observes with deep concern the growing normalization of unauthorized extraterritorial operations.
07:00which have left dozens of victims in the Caribbean and the Pacific.
07:10These actions erode the international legal order and set a dangerous precedent in a region recognized as a zone of peace.
07:20And now we have a short break coming up.
07:22At first, remember you can join us on TikTok at Teleshringlish.
07:25We will find news in different formats, news, update, and much more.
07:29We will be right back and stay with us.
07:39Welcome back.
07:40In Chile, the labor code allows the mass dismissal of workers for company-related reasons.
07:46And it's not just a lot in a single holding.
07:50There have already been a thousand layoffs.
07:52Our correspondent Paula Dragny with more details.
07:54There's no Christmas spirit here.
08:01Any of these workers could be next.
08:03Mass layoffs are a reality in one of Chile's most powerful holdings,
08:07Senkocid, whose corporate tower rises almost like a skyscraper in Santiago.
08:11In just the first half of this year, the supermarket chain Jumbo recorded profits of more than 180 percent.
08:22This represents profits of nearly 200 billion pesos.
08:27It makes no sense or logic to apply the article on needs of the company for this number of layoffs.
08:31Already a thousand have been dismissed for company-related reasons.
08:38It's an article of the labor code that authorizes the dismissal of workers without further explanation.
08:42This article is absolutely backward, since it has existed since 1981 as part of José Páinra's labor plan A Labor Code, also created under dictatorship.
08:55It is time to change it.
08:57More than 40 years cannot have passed, and we still continue with the labor code, whose framework was made under dictatorship.
09:03It was precisely during the dictatorship when its founder, the controversial German migrant Horst Paulmann, consolidated his fortune.
09:13In July 2024, he gave this improvised interview to small entrepreneur François Puzet.
09:22So here too is the call, and for the workers of Chile to think very carefully when it comes time to vote.
09:28We find it quite contradictory that workers are voting for our executioners.
09:33But they are not happy, despite the fact that at the magnate's funeral in March of this year, those now called collaborators took part in the cortege.
09:45Perhaps this is one of the main problems Chilean neoliberalism diluted the working class consciousness.
09:54I believe that out of fear of losing their jobs, people are protesting very little.
10:01I feel there is a fear of confronting the boss.
10:05I believe that we, the workers,
10:07are the ones absent from the streets.
10:15It is not the workers themselves.
10:17With this flag as a class present in the March, on Women's Day, or mostly not even on May 1st.
10:23For the classes central, it is key to take up this idea that is not just theory.
10:31How many of those workers who mourn Paulmann are today without a job?
10:36For all those who live off a salary, for all those whose lives are thrown into disorder when that salary doesn't arrive no matter if they earn the minimum wage or three,
10:48for million pesos because at the level things are, it affects you just the same.
10:52To recognize oneself as part of a class, the working class, we are the ones who produce the wealth.
10:59If tomorrow we don't get up and go to work, we are the ones who move the factories,
11:03and the owners of the factories, of the companies, don't need us.
11:09But up to now, neither the holding company nor the associated businesses carrying out the mass layoffs
11:17So here too is the call, and for the workers of Chile to think very carefully when it comes time to vote,
11:29we find it quite contradictory that workers are voting for our executioners.
11:36At the ballot boxes this coming December 14th, the workers who will have their say

11:45In Honduras, the Attorney General, Yohel Zelaya, announced an investigation against the National Electoral Council for irregularities in the electoral process.
11:55According to the instruction of the Attorney General, he has ordered the Technical and Criminal Investigation Agency
12:01to immediately enter the headquarters of the electoral body to collect evidence, documents, and all the necessary material required by his office.
12:08While the country continues to await definitive results,
12:12The prosecutor has requested all these materials to investigate the numerous complaints of conspiracy, extortion,
12:18as well as the accusations made by three members of the National Electoral Council,
12:23who, in the words of the prosecutor, are now fulfilling the interests of Honduras.
12:27A U.S. judge ordered Friday to unseal the grand jury transcripts of the Epstein's case in Florida.
12:40The court order was in response to a request made by the Department of Justice itself to disclassify the case files.
12:48The Department had renewed its request for the material to be made public last month after Congress passed and President Trump signed a law requiring the Attorney General to disclose records related to the investigation.
13:02The order is a significant legal turn of events, as the same court had rejected similar requests in 2005 and 2007,
13:11arguing the need to maintain the secrecy of grand jury deliberations.
13:15Multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his cell in 2019 while awaiting trial for running a sophisticated network of child sex trafficking and abuse.
13:25In other news, the leaders of the United States, Canada and Mexico held a private meeting after the 2026 World Cup draw
13:37and reaffirmed their intention to continue collaborating on trade issues and meet growing tensions in the region.
13:44The meeting that took place at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. lasted approximately 45 minutes,
13:50where they addressed economic cooperation, border security and coordination for the organization of the event.
13:56Although relations have been strained by economic, immigration and anti-drug trafficking policies,
14:03the governments have reshared agreements and extensions on tariff.
14:07Canadian Prime Minister Mark Kearney is seeking to reestablish bilateral dialogue with the United States
14:13after a period of tension which led to the suspension of trade negotiations last October.
14:19In a message posted on social media, Sean Bernadette said that they agreed to continue working together on trade issues.

15:02Russia and India agreed to increase their trade exchange to an equivalent of $100 billion by 2030.
15:09Agreement took place during President Vladimir Putin's official visit to New Delhi,
15:13where the Russian leader affirmed that trade between both nations continued to grow at a steady pace,
15:19reaching record-breaking results.
15:21Putin also highlighted the potential investment opportunities offered by India
15:25and informed that the trade exchange between them exceeded $64 billion in 2024.
15:31The delegations from both countries met Friday to conduct formal negotiations in small and large groups.
15:36Israeli occupation forces arrested about 570 Palestinians in November in the occupied West Bank territories.
16:05In a statement, the Palestinian Center for Studies on Prisoners reported that among the 570 detainees,
16:12there are about eight women and at least 41 minors.
16:16The institution also highlighted that since October 2023,
16:19the Israeli regime has detained more than 21,000 Palestinians in the West Bank.
16:24In this scenario, the Palestinian people and human rights groups asserted that arbitrary and administrative detentions
16:30by the due process of law by not allowing their presentation of evidence
16:35without the possibility of being tried or convicted.
16:42The Israeli raids happen every day, but this time it lasted longer.
16:50Every day, when I go to dawn prayer, I find the Israeli soldiers right in my face.
16:54They don't distinguish between good and bad, or old and young.
16:58Everyone is treated the same.
17:02Provocation and humiliation, that is their policy.
17:05I tell them I am elderly, but they make no distinction between old and young.
17:09Everyone is treated the same.
17:10They tell me, raise your hands and spread your legs, then they beat and humiliate.
17:15Israel carried out new attacks against residential areas in southern Lebanon,
17:24increasing tensions on regional instability despite the ceasefire agreement.
17:28These assaults were carried out after prior threats from Israel,
17:32which forced the Lebanese to evacuate several towns in the southern border region.
17:37Authorities reported that these Israeli attacks caused considerable damage to buildings and civilian homes,
17:43but no casualties or injuries were reported.
17:47Additionally, they asserted that these actions by Israel represent a flagrant disregard for international agreements
17:52and the ceasefire declaration that came into effect on November 27, 2024.
17:58Until November 25, Israel committed over 5,000 violations of the ceasefire,
18:02resulting in 309 deaths, 598 injuries, and structural damage.
18:08Pakistan and Afghanistan exchanged heavy fire along their border late on Friday,
18:18officials from both countries reported.
18:20Afghan Taliban spokesman Sabihullah Muhajid said that Pakistani forces launched attacks
18:26in a district of Kandahar province.
18:29For his part, a spokesman for Pakistan's prime minister accused Afghan forces
18:33of unprovoked firing along the Shaman boulder.
18:36The exchange came two days after a new run of peace talks between the South Asian neighbors
18:42ended without a breakthrough.
18:45Ali Mohamed Hakmal, head of Kandahar's Information Department,
18:48reported that Pakistani forces attacked with light and heavy artillery
18:53and that mortar fire had struck civilian homes,
18:56adding that the clashes ended as both sides agreed to stop.
19:03In Sri Lanka, the toll from adverse weather caused by cyclone Didwa
19:20has risen to 607 deaths and a lift to 114 missing.
19:25According to the country's disaster management center,
19:28the atmospheric phenomenon and its remnants have affected more than 2 million people nationwide.
19:344,164 houses have been destroyed and around 67,500 others have suffered partial damage.
19:43In this regard, the Meteorological Department states that in the coming days,
19:47an increase in rainfall is expected in some parts of the country due to the monsoon effects
19:52in the region and urged the population to maintain safety measures,
19:57limit interstate travel and stock up basic supplies to minimize unnecessary trips outside the home.
20:09And in South Africa, a new study shows that the African penguin population has collapsed due to mass starvation.
20:15A study published in Ostrich Journal of African Ornithology reveals that more than 60,000 penguins
20:23from colonies along South Africa's west coast have perished as their main food source has dwindled.
20:30More than 95% of the birds vanished between 2004 and 2012,
20:35with researchers concluding that the vast majority likely succumbed to hunger.
20:40The study points to shifting ocean conditions and depleted fish stocks at the main causes.
20:45It is important to highlight that the African penguins were formally listed as critically endangered in 2024,
20:52with fewer than 10,000 breeding pairs remaining.
21:01With that information, we have come to the end of this news brief.
