00:00Sadly, we have bad news for fans who are hoping to see Quentin Tarantino take on
00:04Starfleet. In a new interview, the filmmaker implied that he'll be steering away from
00:09his planned Star Trek movie. Tarantino's involvement in the Star Trek franchise was
00:13first revealed two years ago with Revenant screenwriter Mark L. Smith signing on to
00:18pen a script based on Tarantino's idea just weeks after the project was revealed.
00:22Even during a press tour for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood this past summer,
00:26Tarantino was speaking openly about Star Trek as though it was still something that
00:29was in the works. However, in a recent interview with Consequence of Sound, the
00:33filmmaker suggested he won't be getting involved with the franchise after all saying,
00:37I think I'm steering away from Star Trek but I haven't had an official conversation with
00:41those guys yet. He went on to say,
00:42In a strange way, it seems like this movie, Hollywood, would be my last. So I've kind of
00:47taken the pressure off myself to make that last big voila kind of statement. With
00:50Tarantino seemingly backing out of the Star Trek franchise, it's unclear what exactly
00:55will happen to the project. However, as recently as last week, Viacom CBS CEO
00:59Bob Backish spoke about two separate Star Trek movies in active development and one of
01:04those films was presumably Tarantino's. For more on this story, head to THR.com
