00:00Hi everyone, I'm Sam and I'm truly grateful to receive this award.
00:05The work that I do is driven by one simple belief, that every person deserves dignity,
00:10compassion and the opportunity to feel seen and supported. A lot of my work focuses on homelessness
00:17awareness and disability inclusion. Through volunteering, fundraising initiatives and
00:23amplifying the voices of people with lived experience, I've seen how powerful compassion
00:27and human connection can be. I love people and I love our world and I try to live every day
00:34with
00:34the hope of leaving this world a little better than when I found it. I believe that everyone
00:39has the power to spread kindness, look beyond stereotypes and respond with empathy instead
00:45of judgment. Real change happens when ordinary people choose to care about one another and that's
00:52why volunteerism, community action are so important. This recognition is especially
00:57meaningful during the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development because
01:02it highlights the incredible impact that everyday people can have when they choose to care, contribute
01:08and take action. I want to thank the Icons of Change International Awards for this honour
01:14and also acknowledge the many individuals, organisations and communities whose work
01:19continues to inspire me every single day. I hope that this encourages more people, especially young
01:26people, to use their voice, step forward in service and never underestimate the impact that they can have.
