00:00Greetings, everyone. It is truly an honor to be selected as one of this year's awardees and to share my
00:07journey in transforming lives within the academic space.
00:11Thank you to the team behind the Icons of Change Awards.
00:16I am Dr. Felma Tria, an academician and currently the president of Universidad de Manila in the Philippines.
00:24Transformation has always been the defining thread of my work.
00:27Throughout my career as an educator and institutional leader, I have remained guided by a clear purpose.
00:34To elevate education as a transformative force that shapes students into individuals capable of reshaping the world.
00:43I believe in uplifting lives through quality education.
00:48My mission has always been to go beyond incremental improvements and instead pursue meaningful transformation,
00:55challenging systems, introducing innovation, and uncovering pathways that advance the learning experience of learners
01:03while empowering educators through expanded teaching repertoires and modernized methodologies.
01:09Five key pillars have consistently guided this transformative work.
01:14First, internationalization.

01:24while preparing students to participate meaningfully in a globalized world.
01:29Second, standardization.
01:32Establishing frameworks that elevate quality, strengthen transparency,
01:36and reinforce accountability across programs and institutional processes.

02:09Ensuring that educational transformation remains grounded in accessibility and equity
02:15so that reforms uplift not only institutions, but also the communities and learners they serve.
02:23As an icon of change,
02:25I also embrace lifelong learning as a transformative practice.
02:29Engaging with communities of shared purpose,
02:32embedding continuous learning within academic programs,
02:36and pursuing my own journey of lifelong education.
02:39In a world that constantly evolves, transformation becomes not merely a goal,
02:47but a responsibility while remaining deeply attuned to the realities of those whose opportunities remain limited
02:54and continuously embracing growth as both an educator and a leader.
02:59Ultimately, I believe in a leadership where excellence meets humility,
03:05where transformation is pursued not for recognition,
03:09but for the lasting impact it creates in the lives of others.
03:13Thank you for this recognition.
