00:00Good day everyone, my name is Gan Ling from Malaysia.
00:05First of all, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the Icon of Change International
00:12Awards 2026 Organising Committee for this meaningful recognition.
00:19It is truly an honour to be included alongside individuals and organisations contributing
00:26towards positive and sustainable impact within their respective fields and communities.
00:34I am a Chartered Accountant, Licensed Auditor and Licensed Tax Agent in the professional
00:40practice.
00:41Over the past two decades, my professional journey has allowed me to work closely with many businesses,
00:50entrepreneurs and organisations across different industries.
00:57Throughout this journey, I have come to realise that professional work is not only about numbers,
01:04reports or compliance.
01:06At its core, it is about responsibility, trust and helping organisations build stronger foundation
01:15for the future.
01:16Many businesses today operate in an environment of rapid change, evolving regulations, digital
01:26transformation, economic uncertainty and increasing expectation for accountability and transparency.
01:37In my role, I have had the opportunity to support businesses in strengthening governance, improving
01:45financial discipline, adapting to regulatory developments and building more sustainable operational
01:54practices.
01:57I believe sustainable development does not always begin with large global projects.
02:04Sometimes, it begins with small but consistent actions, helping businesses improve accountability,
02:15encouraging ethical decision-making, promoting proper governance, supporting responsible growth and
02:24creating systems that allow organisations to remain resilient over the long term.
02:31One area I have been actively involved is in professional education and awareness, particularly
02:42relating to governance, compliance and evolving digital requirements such as e-invoicing implementation.
02:50Through seminar discussions and knowledge sharing initiatives, I hope to contribute by helping businesses and
03:00professionals better understand the importance of structured processes, transparency and responsible practices.
03:11leadership to me is also a continuous learning journey.
03:17It is not about titles or recognition alone, but about staying committed to integrity, professionalism and continuous improvement,
03:28development, especially during challenging periods.
03:32I believe true leadership is reflected in the ability to guide responsibly, adapt positively to change and continue value beyond
03:44our immediate responsibilities.
03:46As we move closer towards the global goals outlined in the Sustainable Development Agenda Year 2030, I believe every profession
03:58has a role to play.
04:00Whether through education, ethical practices, governance, innovation or community contribution, each of us can contribute in meaningful ways towards building
04:13stronger and more sustainable systems for future generations.
04:18To everyone watching, I would also like to encourage you to continue contributing within your own sphere of influence.
04:29Positive impact does not always require large platforms. Consistency, responsibility and genuine commitment in our daily work can also create
04:41meaningful change over time.
04:44Once again, thank you to the Icon of Change International Award 2026 Organising Committee for this recognition and for creating
04:56a platform that highlights individuals and organisations working towards positive global impact.
05:04Thank you very much.
