00:00It seems that Oprah Winfrey's monthly magazine will be ceasing their print publication.
00:05Although it was reported that Oprah magazine will cease printing after its December 2020 issue,
00:09it looks like the brand is not going away completely.
00:12A rep for Hearst Magazines emphasized to The Hollywood Reporter that the magazine is shifting to become, quote,
00:16more digitally centric.
00:18As the brand celebrates 20 years of Oh! the Oprah magazine, we're thinking of what's next.
00:22But again, the partnership and the brand are not going away.
00:25This is a natural next step for the brand, which has grown to an online audience of 8 million.
00:30Extending its voice and vision with video and social content.
00:33We will continue to invest in this platform as the brand grows and evolves into one that is more digitally centric.
00:39Winfrey spoke out about the news in a statement saying,
00:41I'm proud of this team and what we have delivered to our readers over the past 20 years.
00:45I look forward to the next step in our evolution.
00:48Lucy Kalin, editor-in-chief of Oh! the Oprah magazine, also spoke out about the news saying,
00:5220 years ago, Oh! the Oprah magazine launched as a personal growth guide to help women live their best lives.
00:57As we embark on this next chapter, we will lean into moments that are central to the brand's DNA
01:02and deepen the connection with our loyal readers.
01:05News of the famed women's magazine coming to an end follows criticism for the Hearst magazine's division,
01:10which publishes Good Housekeeping, Harper's Bazaar, and Elle, among others.
01:14A recent report by the New York Times included employees describing its toxic environment,
01:19as well as sexually offensive remarks by former President Troy Young, who resigned on Thursday.
01:23As of 2020, the average paid circulation for the magazine was 2.2 million copies and a print audience of 10 million.
