00:00Everything you say to me
00:23I need a little room to breathe
00:28Cause I'm one step closer to the edge
00:30I'm about to pray
00:32Everything you say to me
00:33Just be one step closer to the edge
00:35I'm about to pray
00:37I need a little room to breathe
00:38Cause I'm one step closer to the edge
00:40And I'm about to
00:41Thank you guys
00:47Thank you
00:58All right now
01:08Wasn't that fun?
01:10Let's try something else
01:11What the fuck are you doing?
01:41In my dressing room
01:42This is Proud's dressing room
01:44Are we starting?
01:46In the next hour
01:47You're gonna see behind the scenes
01:49Of Lincoln Park
01:50You're gonna see
01:50What we do
01:52Before a show
01:53What we eat
01:54And us sitting on toilets
01:56Let's start with the toilets
01:59The British will love that, huh?
02:00Like toilet humor
02:01This ain't top of the pops, yo
02:04It's very kitschy
02:05Oh, that's weird
02:26Cool
02:27All right
02:28We're in Utah
02:29At the end of the Countdown Revolution Tour
02:31It's snowing outside
02:33So we're hanging out in here
02:34We've got our entertainment center
02:35Very entertaining
02:38Yeah, this is a
02:42This is a Limp Bizkit hand-me-down
02:43Our production manager
02:45Used to work for them
02:46And the guest West painted this
02:48But we're lucky to have it
02:50It's kind of a loner
02:50Chris let us
02:52Chris is our production manager
02:53He let us borrow this
02:54Until ours gets made
02:54So it's good to have
02:56Like one of these
02:56In the dressing room
02:57You know
02:57Every day that you show up
03:00You have a writer
03:00That's what it's called
03:01I don't know why
03:02But it's basically
03:03You submit a list of stuff
03:05That you may want
03:06In your dressing room that day
03:08I have, for instance
03:10Chips and salsa
03:11Bagels
03:12Bagels
03:13Deli tray
03:14Mushrooms
03:15Snapples
03:16Waters
03:16It's usually
03:17Oh, we always have
03:18Easy cheese
03:18And also helpful to have
03:20Hand sanitizer
03:21So when you get
03:22Gnarly cuts from kids
03:23You scratch your hand
03:27When you go in the crowd
03:27You put it on there
03:28And it kills the germs
03:30This is where we keep the Jake
03:32We just
03:33We kind of mount him
03:34Up against the wardrobe case
03:36Right like that
03:36That sounds so bad
03:37We keep him
03:40By the wardrobe case
03:41Like that
03:42Uh, wardrobe cases
03:44Can't all be flashy
03:46Huh, kids?
03:47This is our right-hand
03:48Birthing device
03:49We have another one
03:50From when we, uh
03:51Birthed kids
03:53Cause, uh
03:55Dave and Brad
03:56Actually, uh
03:57They're medical students
03:58From UCLA
03:58And they, uh
04:00Know how to birth children
04:01I think the technical term
04:04Is deliver
04:05Deliver children
04:06I'm sorry
04:07I'm not a doctor
04:08Like you
04:08But he didn't go to
04:09Med school, did he?
04:12No, I didn't
04:13How'd you guys
04:28How'd you guys
04:28Actually sort of
04:29Hook up
04:29You received the tape
04:30Is that right?
04:31Yeah, I got a demo
04:32In the mail
04:33And, uh
04:34And, uh
04:35Then I pretty much
04:36Just kind of
04:37Fell in love with it
04:37Instantly
04:38And then, um
04:39Ran in and cancelled
04:41All of my plans
04:42For the entire day
04:44And called my friend
04:45In the studio
04:45And said
04:46I need a couple hours
04:47And, uh
04:49Went in there
04:50Cut the demo
04:51Called him
04:52I think about
04:53Twelve hours
04:54After the demo
04:55Arrived in my house
04:56And said
04:57I'm ready
04:58And they were pretty
05:00Surprised about that
05:02Within twenty
05:02I got a demo
05:03In the mail
05:03And, uh
05:06I was at my birthday party
05:08Our first songs
05:15They were cruder versions
05:16Of what we're doing now
05:17Like you could definitely
05:18Pick out
05:18Okay, here's the rap part
05:19Okay
05:20Here's the electronic part
05:22And, uh
05:23We basically spent
05:24Years working
05:25In Mike's bedroom
05:26And on our own
05:27On our songs
05:28Um
05:29To create an album
05:30Hybrid theory
05:31Where each track
05:32Is
05:32It tells a story
05:33And is strong
05:34But each track
05:35Just sounds like
05:36Linkin Park
05:36It doesn't sound like
05:37Okay, here's the rap part
05:38Don't get this by the way
05:39You guys have got
05:40Your little actions
05:40Here's the other part
05:41And so everything
05:42Is just, you know
05:43Combined to one sound
05:44Yeah
05:44How long have you guys
05:52Been like sitting
05:53On the same tour bus
05:54Together last year
05:54Six months
05:56Yeah
05:56It was only a bus
05:57For about four weeks
05:59It was a van
06:00It was an RV
06:01With nine guys in it
06:02For about four months
06:03And the RV was built
06:04For like six
06:05So it was pretty crammed in there
06:06That's when Brad and I
06:07Became the same person
06:08Became the same person
06:08There just wasn't room
06:10Because it was a room
06:11Because it was room
06:11Yeah
06:11To have both of us sleep
06:13In an area
06:14So we both
06:14Kind of combined
06:16When did linkinpark.com
06:17Actually first go online
06:18Before?
06:20That's a good question
06:21Like we
06:22We actually started
06:23Our web activity
06:24Before anything else
06:25Yeah, because I read
06:26There was like
06:26You guys were actually
06:27Starting to put the word
06:28Out about your band
06:29Before there had been
06:30Any releases
06:31Or anything like that
06:31We're definitely a band
06:32That you can totally say
06:34Like we kind of
06:35Broke on the web
06:35And the cool thing
06:38About that
06:39Is when we first
06:39Went to do our
06:40A US tour
06:41Which we'd never done before
06:42There were kids
06:43In all these different cities
06:44Who already knew
06:45Who we were
06:46Because they'd heard
06:46Our stuff on the internet
06:47Or they were on
06:48Our street team
06:49Or they'd met
06:50Someone
06:50It's really distracting you man
06:51Shut up
06:53You're sort of concerned
07:05About the whole
07:06Kind of fact
07:06That people are going
07:07To concentrate more
07:08On your tattoos
07:08Your piercings
07:09And your hairstyles
07:09And your dashing
07:10Good looks
07:10Never
07:11The last thing
07:12We worry about
07:13Is like
07:13Image
07:14Honestly
07:15Seriously
07:16We walk around
07:17Coming from this guy
07:18I swear
07:19I swear
07:19I swear
07:21I'm sorry man
07:24All respect you
07:26But I mean
07:26Seriously
07:27Like
07:27Image hand to us
07:29Is like
07:29Getting in there
07:30Getting into a place
07:31And having people
07:32Do your hair
07:32And wearing
07:33You know
07:34Leather clothes
07:35And like
07:35The glamour aspect
07:36I'd give it
07:37Six months
07:37Before you
07:38Getting someone
07:39Do your hair
07:39And wearing leather clothes
07:40Well I wanted to do it
07:41This morning
07:41But it was
07:42Don't take too much time
07:42Because it was
07:43Too crazy
07:43To do your hair
07:44Show him the hair
07:44Come on man
07:45Come on man
07:46That's six against one
07:46Come on
07:47You got it back up
07:47I'm so not going to hit it
07:51That path
07:51Hi mom
07:52This proves that we're not
07:53An image conscious band
07:54Right
07:55Sometimes we get two dressing rooms
07:59It's nice to have two dressing rooms
08:02Especially when
08:03Like at the beginning of this year
08:05When we weren't even getting one
08:06We had to sit in our RV
08:07While other people had dressing rooms
08:08That can be rough
08:09This is our production office
08:13This is where all the business happens
08:14So basically we don't know
08:16What goes on here
08:16But let's go check it out
08:17Come on
08:19Come on
08:20They hate it when we come in here
08:21We don't belong in here
08:22We're just a band
08:23This is where we keep BC
08:26This is AD from
08:27Van Head PE
08:28Also known as The King
08:30The King
08:31Very drummer slash tour manager
08:34Let's keep that in
08:35Yeah
08:36AKA Jack Daniels
08:38And I took him to school
08:39The go-kart track the other night
08:40He did
08:41Every once in a while
08:42He badged out
08:43He badged out
08:44That's a nice sweater
08:46Every once in a while
08:47You get a day off
08:48In between shows
08:49And you get to go do fun stuff
08:51Well it wasn't a day off
08:52But we had a day off the day after
08:53We went go-kart racing
08:55With Head PE
08:55And it was pretty dope
08:57And BC schooled me
08:59He lapped me a couple times
09:01Derek Daly Racing School
09:02Las Vegas
09:03B-Town
09:04Thank you
09:07Hi
09:07Moving on to the
09:09Production office
09:11This is our
09:13Very important part
09:15Of the production case
09:16The blow pops
09:17This is where they put the dreidel
09:24This is our backup DJ
09:25Right here
09:26If I go down
09:27He's always
09:28Here's Sam I Am
09:29What's up?
09:31This is Erica
09:32She's the
09:34Hello
09:34She writes all her music
09:36Yeah
09:36On my good days
09:40Yeah
09:40On her bad days
09:41She performs it
09:42Whenever we're feeling bad
09:43Really bad days
09:44In a bad mood
09:45We come here
09:45And talk to Erica
09:46And she puts us in a good mood
09:47I try
09:48She's always smiling
09:49I try
09:49Show your smile
09:51Give
09:51Except for that picture
09:53You drew with me
09:54I was frowning
09:56Oh
09:56But it's
09:57It's a serious moment
09:58You notice how much bigger
10:00The production office is
10:01Than the
10:02Dressing room
10:03The production office
10:04Is way bigger than the dressing room
10:06It's like
10:07Four dressing rooms
10:08Could fit inside here
10:08Priorities
10:09You moving from Arizona
10:34Must have been a big thing
10:35I mean
10:35I've been reading in the interviews
10:36You've got a wife
10:37You've got some dogs
10:38Right
10:38And you suddenly relocate to LA
10:41I mean
10:41What was going through your mind
10:42At that time
10:43To meet guys
10:43That you hadn't even met before
10:45I pretty much tried
10:47Not to think about it at all
10:48I just kind of went
10:49You know
10:50Just focus on
10:51On just doing the music
10:53And try not to think too much about
10:55How pissed my wife was
10:58Or how sad she was
11:00That I was gone
11:00Or whether or not
11:01My dogs even knew
11:02That I wasn't there anymore
11:03How did you put it to your wife
11:04Did you say
11:05Sorry I gotta go
11:05I might be gone for some time
11:07But you know
11:07When I come back
11:08I'll be a rock star
11:08And you can move out
11:09To an LA mansion
11:10With me
11:10Was that how you sold it to her
11:12Well I mean
11:13The only reason why
11:14She didn't come with me
11:15In the first place
11:15Is just because
11:16We owned some property
11:17And I didn't want to like
11:19Just you know
11:20Throw all my eggs
11:22Into one basket
11:23I wanted to leave
11:24At least one egg out
11:25So you know
11:26So you know
11:27We just kind of
11:28We're being
11:29Just kind of
11:31As practical
11:32As we possibly could
11:33You know
11:34Because I didn't know
11:35How well we would
11:36Which to most people
11:37Would still be impractical
11:38Yeah I mean
11:39Most people
11:39Yeah I'd be insane
11:40But like
11:40What we wanted
11:41What I was like
11:42Really just hoping to do
11:43Is just kind of
11:44Come out
11:44And find out
11:45What these guys
11:46Are all about
11:46Because I didn't know
11:47That we would
11:47We would click so well
11:49So fast
11:50There's something inside me
11:52That pulls beneath the surface
11:54Consuming
11:57Confusing
11:59I've got to ask you this
12:01You've suffered this rumor
12:02That's been going around
12:03The industry
12:03That you're a manufactured boy band
12:05You guys have a lot of people watching
12:07And we get to say
12:08To all these people
12:09That we wouldn't have gotten
12:10A publishing deal first
12:12If we didn't write our own songs
12:13So
12:14That rumor you heard
12:15Is not true
12:16And not only that
12:17But it's kind of hard
12:18To manufacture a band
12:19That knew each other
12:21Their entire lives
12:22Try to find one
12:24Try to find one
12:25Record industry executive
12:27That can manufacture
12:28A piece of crap like us
12:29We'd be way more polished
12:33If they had manufactured us
12:34Right
12:34The power of your vocals
12:35On stage
12:36Like spot on
12:36For what you hear on the album
12:37And the notes that you hold on
12:39And the way you sing
12:39People keep asking you
12:40About the effects that you use
12:42And he doesn't use any effects
12:43It's all pure
12:44Up on stage yet
12:45Well yeah
12:45I mean it's like
12:46We use like
12:47Typical effects that any band
12:49In any pub
12:51Or any bar
12:53Or any venue
12:54Would be able to use
12:54Like you know
12:55Delays, reverbs
12:57Things like that
12:58But we don't run any tape
12:59We don't loop anything
13:00Not even samples
13:03Everything that you hear
13:04On the record
13:05Is being performed
13:06Physically by somebody
13:08On stage
13:09Confusing what is real
13:12Confusing what is real
13:14A funny thing about
13:22About coming to these venues
13:24And being in a band
13:25Is that
13:25When you wake up
13:27And come out of your bus
13:28You have no idea
13:29Where you're going
13:30Because you potentially
13:31You know a lot of times
13:32You've never been there before
13:33So you see
13:33These
13:34Your production team
13:35Sets these up every morning
13:37So that when you come in
13:38And you're all groggy
13:39You kind of look here
13:40And you're okay
13:40And trying to find the catering
13:42And you've got catering
13:44Hello
13:45Rice, potatoes and meats
13:48It changes every day
13:50Depending on who does the catering
13:52Usually they hire out
13:53Like a local crew
13:54And kind of
13:55You know
13:55It's from the area
13:57They come in
13:57They cook some stuff
13:58Kind of
13:59It can kind of be sketchy
14:01Because then you've got
14:02You know
14:02People that you've never met before
14:05Preparing a bunch of food
14:06And sometimes it's really good
14:07Sometimes it's
14:08Garbage
14:09You know
14:10Today looks good though
14:11And I'm not just saying that either
14:13Talking to
14:17And desserts
14:31Over there
14:32We found Brad
14:33He's over there
14:35Brad's really weird
14:37Get those fucking cameras out of here
14:38He's practicing his acting
14:40Look how convincing it is
14:42Do it again
14:43Do it again
14:43Get tough
14:43Get tough again
14:44Brad, do your photo shoot face
14:46Yeah
14:50Alright
14:51Dude, Sweeney
14:53You gotta put on some clothes, dude
14:55On real
14:56No, I like your sexy legs
14:58I'm just afraid
14:59You're gonna get sick
14:59You're killing my vibe, Sweeney
15:01Can I borrow those shorts, though?
15:04Can I borrow those shorts, though?
15:04Hi, we're Lincoln Park.
15:33We're here in Salt Lake City, Utah, halfway through our Countdown to Revolution tour.
15:40Welcome to the show.
15:43We're going to the stage now.
15:47When we go on stage at night, we go the same direction, except there's a lot of people here.
15:52They're all screaming for Mike, because Mike's the heartthrob.
15:56Like, m-m-m-Mike.
15:58Right, Chisel?
16:02Right now, what we have set up is, they have the band set up in a sequence, with the opening
16:10Apex Theory being out front, their drum riser being up there, then head PE being right here,
16:15and then our stuff kind of in the back.
16:17So they'll strike the stuff away, move the next band up, wear it that way.
16:22I know you're doing it.
16:23I love it.
16:24So, and this is our fascia, and the risers, DJ riser, we call that Mount Han, and then Rob's,
16:35Rob?
16:36Rob's drum riser.
16:37That's the stage.
16:38Come out here and you can look where the people will go, if you want to do that.
16:50You can all the-
16:51It makes for a good cover this one.
16:52You have to just kind of chill.
16:54Hi.
16:55I have the camera now.
16:59I'm doing it.
17:03Is this fun?
17:04So?
17:05Oh no.
17:06I'm probably going to do this with it.
17:09So, how long have you been doing this?
17:11Uh, two more.
17:12Two more.
17:13Can we get back?
17:14Oh, you're American.
17:16My setup is, uh, we got this thing.
17:22It's called a mini production center, which is a sampler.
17:27And, uh, basically what it does is it makes noises.
17:31So I push the button and it makes a noise.
17:34Like a speaking spell.
17:38Like if I want to spell something with sounds, I'll just go and I'll say what I want to say.
17:44I did the same thing with my vinyl.
17:46I used this record, which I made, KC Gas Station Breaks from the Orient.
17:51Well, the thing with our band is, um, control is, um, that's the challenge.
17:59Everyone's trying to control each other.
18:01They're trying to control me.
18:03I sometimes try to control them.
18:05It's just a battle that we're always going through.
18:08The director of the show just called me a wanker.
18:11We'll show you some more of this.
18:12How should I take that?
18:14Do you want to see the drums?
18:16Listen, here's what's going on.
18:18What we've got is the real drums.
18:21We've got them and we've got the fake drums.
18:27They're not making noise.
18:28And he's saying, why do you have this stupid thing?
18:33Because they make noises on the sampler.
18:36Over here.
18:37I'm speaking in your language.
18:39I'm just trying to relate.
18:40It's okay, right?
18:44I almost broke the staircase for you, man.
18:45Hey, Mike.
18:46They said you sound South African.
18:47I'm South African?
18:48I got the best seats in the house right here.
18:49One!
18:50One!
18:51One!
18:52One!
18:53One!
18:54One!
18:55One!
18:56One!
18:57One!
18:58One!
18:59One!
19:00One!
19:01One!
19:02One!
19:03Two!
19:04One!
19:05One!
19:06One!
19:07One!
19:08One!
19:09One!
19:10One!
19:11One!
19:12Two!
19:19You want to go to the show and you want to see the people
19:25play but you want to meet them too.
19:26And that usually doesn't happen.
19:27So we kind of try to make that happen more often.
19:31We usually do signings, like on some tours where, well like ouren tours we jump down in
19:37the crowd after we play.
19:38But other ones we try to just set up something like that.
19:41We try and just set up something and we can do that.
19:43I think the only time we've really officially gone out to celebrate
20:13was when we had a record deal.
20:14And even then we didn't do much.
20:16We ran, we were like, woohoo, let's go to dinner and then go write the record.
20:20Did you know where we went?
20:23To House of Pies.
20:24Oh no, that was the other night.
20:26We had two, we had, I guess we had two things.
20:28We went to Hooters, which was like a big rock at all moments.
20:33Some guys, some guys, you know.
20:35They have the best food.
20:36Do drugs.
20:37In the restaurant.
20:38Some guys do drugs and go to strip clubs.
20:40Their wings are so good.
20:41We went to Hooters and went to House of Pies.
20:43For the wings.
20:44For the wings?
20:45For the wings, yeah, definitely.
20:46I think we were like, I think someone, not to name names, was like, hey, we just got
20:50a record deal to like our waitress and they were just like.
20:53Great.
20:54Do you want a beer or what?
20:55Yeah.
20:56Would you guys like more water?
20:58Great.
20:59Are you ready to order?
21:00And that's when we knew that we'd .
21:02I was just eating dinner and now I gotta go do this shit.
21:21I'll feed decorations under a sky of dust.
21:25I constantly pay the attention on top of broken trust.
21:30The lessons that you taught me I learned were never true.
21:34Now I find myself in question.
21:36They point the finger at me again
21:39Counting by association
21:40You point the finger at me again
21:42You point the finger at me again
21:43I wanna run away and never say goodbye
21:47I wanna know the truth
21:49Instead of wondering why
21:52when we spoke back in january um you know you were saying that you wanted to do a hybrid theory for
22:12at least 12 months and you wanted to just concentrate solely on that record you didn't
22:15actually want to think about doing another album obviously you know you have been thinking about
22:19the next record as far as working on it right now what we're doing is um we're setting up a studio
22:26in the back of our our bus we did that on last tour we're going to do that this is becoming really
22:30common right i mean i've spoken to a few bands recently who want to record on the road but
22:33that's not yeah but there's their studios are nothing compared to ours right ours is much bigger
22:39and much more elaborate well we're we're really i mean we've we're really into to working with like
22:44computer-based recording equipment and uh i think we stay pretty on top of it like as far as the
22:50technology
22:51yes i got paranoid looking up on my back yes i got world winds inside of my head yes i got can't stop what i'm hearing within
23:00inside the face inside is right beneath the skin it's like a paranoid
23:05there must be a concern at the moment with you guys when you think what's going to happen when we stop
23:08because you've been you know working constantly on the six on on making lincoln pass a park a success
23:13for years and the last 12 months have been you know an incredible amount of terrain worldwide
23:18there's got to be a time when you actually have to go back home and think about buying a house or buying
23:22a sofa or there was something to put down some roots do you know what i mean that's why i have a wife
23:26she does a lot for me so i don't have to think about it i was talking to him though i'm sorry
23:30no i know you mean but you know what i'm saying i'll just shut up you know just just i'll just shut up i'll sit over
23:36here on our time off i'm gonna wake up every morning in my apartment really funny by myself
23:40it's hilarious and i'm gonna i'm gonna pretend like i'm playing a concert for a lot of people
23:44but it's really just gonna be you just though you just know and i've met a musician who's done that
23:48before for a week at 9 p.m and actually walked into his living room going okay
23:52did he set the show time for a week just to try and actually sort his head out
23:57one of the things i think that's really helped you guys out the last 12 months apart from the fact
24:00that you can play and you can write is the fact that you give a about your fans and you
24:05genuinely do it's not this kind of like oh i give a but i'm not going to sign your autograph
24:08or i'm not going to have my photo taken with you but i care you know you genuinely you know you
24:12stick around you try to meet as many people as you can but that must take its toll i don't think it
24:15takes its toll i think it's really rewarding to be able to go out and and sign stuff for kids say
24:21hi to kids thank them for coming like at our show in germany i think the kids in berlin that we just
24:27did i think the kids were singing louder actually our sound guy told us that they were singing uh two
24:33two dbs over the pa has it got scary at times some of the correspondence that you've got from
24:37fans because obviously some fans will cross the line it hasn't i i wouldn't say that it's gotten
24:41scary we've had some fans who've had some really um like for example a good example is uh we had a
24:49fan who had like brain surgery and they decided to play the the song i mean the album the entire way
24:55through and it was hours long she had them play the album over and over and just that one yeah they
25:00would get sick she was it was funny because the doctors would get sick of it and they're like can
25:03we put something else on she's like if you put something else on i'm going to sleep and they're
25:06like okay that's like really touching it's sobering because it is a scary thing but it is it's touching
25:12and and and it makes us like it's it's rewarding you know what i mean
25:31was there a breaking point for you guys this year when you thought you know this is actually
25:36where we're gonna achieve what you know a lot of what we've actually set to achieve with this record
25:40was there a moment like whether it was one show or one performance on television we just got to play
25:44the the vmas in in new york city and that was ladies and gentlemen the three-time platinum sound of
25:50lincoln park
26:00come on
26:06come on
26:12and
26:21anyone throw up
26:23i threw up like every day
26:25for a week
26:26i swear to god i'm not even joking i i have never ever been i haven't been nervous in years you know
26:32since like the first time i got on stage in high school i haven't been nervous and
26:36you know it was like such an odd feeling for me all of a sudden to be extremely like
26:40racked with all these you know anticipation and uh
26:43i started finding myself getting like minor anxiety attacks you know i'd start shaking and then
26:48i either want to pass out four minutes you know just for four minutes it's important
26:51you know you had to turn
26:52also go
26:54and then just throw up i mean it was it was i think it was like this thing smell awful yeah
26:59i can't even imagine what what the guys from the executioners um who played with us yeah
27:03not so they don't i mean they don't they didn't know us that well you know what i mean
27:08like we had hung out a little bit and stuff but when chester was hovering over a trash can in
27:13our dressing room you know rob swift was looking at me like does he always do this
27:18that worked really well when you guys introduced them i wasn't expecting that i didn't know that
27:21that was being built as a collaboration and um you know we wanted it to be a surprise it was
27:26and i thought how are they going to do this you know because you've got three of the greatest
27:28turntablists in the history of of hip-hop music on stage you're not just going to give them
27:32eight bars and tell them to piss off you know what i mean you've got to live the show
27:45this is going to be a tough question for you but i've got to ask one tough question i guess and
28:10whoever gets asked at first is going to be in the worst position um i want to bench press 180. okay
28:14cool what do you bench press about 65 i'm just joking what's the question i've done wrong with
28:19it nonetheless um no one moment that you can single out and i know reflection is difficult when you're
28:24still on the road trying to make you know trying to play your shows and you think about the next
28:27record you don't want to stop and go okay what have we been doing for the last 12 months but if you
28:31can pick one moment i'm going to go with you one moment you guys start thinking that that you can
28:35that you can really pull out this year that you thought holy shit um i was already thinking about
28:41it earlier in the interview and it i think it was the the first show we did uh in london uh that was
28:46our first time things college yeah crazy that was our first time playing outside of the u.s um on that
28:52we played like three dates on that little european run that we had done and that that was the first show
28:57that we had had that went over really well that was outside the u.s um i would have to say uh when we were in melbourne
29:05and uh we were inside this um this like small arena and uh they broke the foundation of the
29:12building the kids were just jumping so hard and having so much fun they they literally
29:17brought the house you have to raise the roof right right mine's gonna sound come on come on allow me one
29:25allow me one take my wife mine's gonna sound slightly redundant but it's also a show and it's also in
29:33london it was the last time we were here with the deftones we played uh london arena i've caught up
29:38with you a couple of you guys around that time you looked exhausted it was really it was probably
29:42that was the most exhausted i've been all year i think and i didn't even know how i couldn't even
29:45like i had family out and i couldn't even talk to them i was so tired i didn't even know how we
29:49were gonna play the show and the show for me was like the my favorite show of the whole year
29:53um well i'm not really much of a i've never been much of a radio listener but i think having our
30:01song get on the radio one step closer yeah one step closer and that was just a cool thing to me
30:07because it felt like at that point like it had gone it had already gone way before way further than i
30:13expected a couple months ago doing festival shows we played the largest show we've ever played was it
30:18was for probably about 70 80 000 people the wind was blowing my symbols were you know blowing around
30:23and stuff and it was just like and i remember the sun was like kind of setting and coming through the
30:29clouds and there was just like people for as far as you could see we played the great show and we
30:33had a great time well thanks very much guys it's been a pleasure oh don't let me down man come on
30:38don't let me down oh i bet you 260. hey thanks for time hello friends and lovers welcome to the family value store
30:50all right you guys it's time to go behind the scenes come on
31:00what's up you guys are chilling with lincoln park at the family value store
31:03and remember kids to fasten your seat belts and wear your safety helmets and goggles for the
31:10wackiest ride of your life this is where the magic happens this is our our studio bus it's just in our
31:17nature that we have a lot of fun when we write music and so it's cool to have that outlet here to
31:22to be able to take a break from what's going on outside on the tour so i'm here at the foh which
31:27is the code term for front of house this is where the psychopaths get crazy man i'm also giving all
31:34the kids safety belts okay on tv we've had enough of you heckling us we're gonna go we're gonna leave
31:40we're gonna be ready for the show
32:01so
32:10Oh, you can't tell by the way I use my words, I'm a woman's man, no time to talk, the music
32:22That usually happens, Mike usually jumps on the turntables and he fucks it off for everybody
32:52What are you doing?
33:04Dude!
33:07These guys are always fucking it up
33:22What?
33:24Yeah, I'm up
33:25Good
33:26What?
33:27Let's go
33:30It starts with
33:32One day, I don't know why
33:34It doesn't even matter how hard you try
33:36Keep that in mind, I'm resigned
33:38It's prior to explaining to time
33:40All I know
33:42If I had to pick an actual moment that was like the suckiest moment for me this year
33:46I'd probably be kicking a door and feeling the pain of my bones snap
33:52That would then take two months on tour to recover and I still have to limp
33:58And so that sucked pretty bad
34:02I don't kick doors anymore
34:04I would say the shittiest thing is the fact that I've been married for five years
34:11And I've been on the road for almost two of those years
34:14That sucks to me
34:16But, oh well
34:18It's the price we pay for the games we play
34:20You know what I mean?
34:21There's a sacrifice in every situation
34:23And I figured I'm spending more time, more quality time now
34:27Because it's better than working nine to five, getting home
34:30At seven o'clock after rush hour, making dinner and going to bed by ten
34:34You get three good solid hours in there
34:36That sucks even worse to me
34:38So, there's still a positive side to that too
34:43I tried so hard
34:45And I got so far
34:47But in the end
34:49It doesn't even matter
34:51I had too far
34:54To lose it all
34:56But in the end
34:58It doesn't even matter
35:01Oh
35:03I think, uh, I think my favorite haircut of this year was the red mohawk
35:09I think the simple fact that people are so fascinated with the fact that I actually get haircuts
35:14That's, that's the big thing right there
35:17People are, like, upset, right?
35:18Yeah, I mean, I'll show up, I'll show up, I'll get my haircut
35:20And people are like
35:21Why did you do that?
35:23I'm like
35:24Because I fucking felt like it, dude
35:26Give me a break
35:27My favorite haircut of this year was a really short haircut and the goatee
35:32And the mustache
35:34I actually changed, uh, my facial hair and I shaved right here
35:39So, if you guys are really, like
35:41On point
35:42I didn't want to pick up on that
35:43Yeah
35:44I was a little, you know, nervous about making the change
35:47But, uh
35:48Nobody's yelled at him yet
35:49What happened to your soul patch?
35:51Dick
35:52I put my trust in you
35:57Pushed as far as I can go
36:01We're planning to play Mexico City and then go to Hawaii and end there
36:04Two kids in Hawaii
36:05And just, like, chill out in Hawaii but be done
36:07We're, like, a year and a half
36:09No more
36:10Oh, wait, wait, and then after that we're gonna go do Southeast Asia
36:13Actually, um, we're just gonna tour this album for the next ten years
36:16We kind of were really happy when we finished the songs
36:18And our intention when we started touring
36:21Wasn't to improve upon them
36:23It was to actually play them
36:24Because there is a lot going on
36:26And
36:27Even having played the songs for as long as we have
36:30It is challenging jumping around and
36:33Having everyone play everything perfectly
36:34Because we really are anal about it
36:36Yeah
36:37Rob in particular, like, if I play one note wrong
36:39Like, I know, like, I'm gonna have to talk to him
36:41Yeah
36:42About it after the show
36:43If he comes back, I'm looking at him
36:44It's funny
36:45It's funny
36:46Cause, I mean
36:48We're so
36:49Anal
36:50About
36:51Our
36:52Our
36:53Way of doing things
36:54I think, like
36:55Looking back on touring
36:56You kind of tend to look back on it more positively
36:59Than it probably really was
37:00Like
37:01Nostalgia
37:02Nostalgia
37:03To me
37:04Like
37:05Connotes
37:06Like
37:07Positive feelings
37:08You know
37:09Whereas if you really like
37:10Went back and looked in
37:11Into our RV
37:12And what was going on
37:13Like
37:14Yeah, there were positives
37:15But it was really rough
37:16And
37:17Right
37:18It kind of kicked our asses
37:19Like, I know that I aged
37:20A couple years
37:21Probably
37:22Yeah, it's like
37:23Madonna
37:24Madonna on our thing
37:25She did this thing
37:26And she went back
37:27With
37:28With a TV career
37:29New York
37:30In her old apartment
37:31And yeah, it looked all fun
37:32And like, she's like
37:33Oh, I remember this place
37:34And you walk into her apartment
37:35And like, the toilet
37:36Is next to the stove
37:37Which is next to the
37:38Which is next to the
37:39Couch
37:40Which is next to the shower
37:41That's her apartment
37:42You know what I mean?
37:43It's like
37:44Yeah, it's all fun and games now
37:45Looking back after
37:46A successful career
37:47But
37:48When she was there
37:49I'm sure it wasn't really
37:50That much fun
37:51Looking back on it
37:52You know, starting in the
37:53The really small clubs
37:54When we were
37:55Unloading the trailer ourselves
37:56We had all our road cases
37:57We'd wheel them in
37:58Set up our stage
38:00Playing for free
38:01Just because there was
38:02People there
38:03Playing for nothing
38:04Just to play in front
38:05Of 50 or 75 people
38:06Taking
38:07After the show
38:08Loading all our gear up
38:09Loading it in
38:10And driving
38:11You know, trading off
38:12With each other
38:13Driving to the next city
38:14It's kind of just
38:15At that point
38:16We didn't have any press
38:17To do
38:18Nobody was interested in us
38:19They didn't care
38:20We wanted to
38:21Like, we wanted to do some press
38:22And talk to some people
38:23And get our name out there
38:24At that point
38:25And do press
38:26And it's just
38:27Yeah, that's the
38:28Final outcome of that
38:29That
38:30It's just grown over the year
38:31From going
38:32To playing bigger venues
38:33To having more buses
38:34And a bigger crew
38:35I got a kick out of that one
38:36And more stuff to do
38:37It's just
38:38Our days are pretty packed now
38:39Um
38:40We don't have to load our gear anymore
38:42But we have to do
38:43You know, anywhere from
38:44Two to five interviews
38:45Going on within the band
38:46A day
38:47And the
38:48There's a whole big production
38:49Going on here
38:50And a lot of stuff
38:51That we like to stay involved with
38:52And oversee
38:53Everything from our business
38:54To our
38:55Merchandise
38:56To our whole production
38:57And everything
38:58So it's gotten really busy
38:59Over the past few years
39:00And we're definitely
39:01Looking forward to getting home
39:03And taking a rest
39:04Because we've been traveling so much
39:05Over the past
39:0616, 17 months
39:07That
39:08It's gonna be
39:09It's gonna feel weird
39:10Staying in one place
39:11For more than a couple weeks
39:13They say like certain people
39:14If they
39:15I don't have this problem
39:16Thank God
39:17But like
39:18They say some people
39:19Who travel
39:20You know
39:21Over their whole career
39:22So much in buses
39:23Who are used to sleeping
39:24With the bus moving
39:25Have a hard time
39:26Actually adjusting
39:27To sleeping
39:28In a normal bed
39:29With
39:30With stationary
39:31I think our biggest ambition
39:33Is to do the next record
39:34And
39:35Hope that it doesn't suck
39:36Um
39:37It's just up to the critics
39:38That really
39:39That
39:40I think that's really
39:41Gonna be the biggest change
39:42A lot of people that
39:43Gave us a lot of flack
39:44On this record
39:45Maybe turning around
39:46And
39:47Give us
39:48Not as much flack
39:48On the next record
39:49And maybe the people
39:50That really enjoy this one
39:51Might give us a little bit
39:52More flack on the next one
39:53It's really just about
39:54Are we gonna be happy with it?
39:55You know
39:56Because
39:57At this point
39:58Who gives a shit?
39:59You know what I mean?
40:00So hopefully we'll make a record
40:01That we're
40:02We are really proud of
40:03And if we fuck up
40:04On the second album
40:05We'll make up for it
40:06On the third one
40:07I promise
40:12Lincoln Park is individual
40:21They're unique
40:22It makes them great

41:45Fear is how I'm falling.
41:49Oh.
41:50Can feel too hard.
41:53It's real.
41:54There's something inside me that broke beneath the surface
42:09Consuming, confusing
42:13This life comes down control, our fear is never ending
42:18Controlling, I can't see
42:23As you find yourself again, my eyes look over you
42:28A proud sense of confidence, confidence that this is too much pressure to take
42:32I've felt this way before
42:35So insecure
42:37There's no body hitting my skin
42:44These words, they were here by me
42:48Tear inside of my heart
42:53Confusing what is real
42:58Discomfort endlessly has pulled itself upon me
43:04Distracting, reacting
43:08Against my will, I stand beside my own reflection
43:13It's hard to hear how I can't see
43:18As you find yourself again, my eyes look over you
43:23Without a sense of confidence, confidence that this is too much pressure to take
43:28I've felt this way before
43:30I've felt this way before
43:30So insecure
43:33So insecure
43:38As you find yourself again, my eyes look over you
43:39Now 이게 worth it when you're here waiting on me
43:52Jumping into the world, it's real
43:56So I'm beating my skin
44:01Things are losing weight, you're letting go
44:06I feel every time I fall
44:10Jumping into the world, it's real
44:15Something's up in the world, it's real
44:20Something's up in the world, it's real
