00:04leader of the Saint Lucia Labour Party. More details in this election day with
00:09our special envoy Belén de los Santos. Saint Lucia's went to the polls this
00:13Monday to elect the Parliament representatives and Prime Minister for
00:18the next five years. When polls opened at 6.30 a.m., many were already waiting in
00:24line. The turnout seemed to be up in numbers. Everybody seemed very enthusiastic
00:31and as you can see the democratic process is working very fine. The future of the
00:36generation to come. So we're voting for the future of our kids and our grandkids.
00:42Spirits remain high throughout the day with many participants in the electoral
00:48process pointing to the importance of democracy for Saint Lucia's. Election Day
00:53means everything to Saint Lucia from the baby growing up to the elderly. That's
01:00what it means and it means heart and soul to the people. That's what election day
01:04means. Yes. A few hours after the polls closed, the hopes of many were confirmed
01:11and the celebration filled the street.
01:17The Saint Lucia Labour Party that since 2021 had sought growth through strong
01:23social measures, vowing to put the people first, obtained a new landslide victory of 14-1
01:30over the right-wing opposition. The Prime Minister is a very loving man. He's a humble person. He's an honest person and he work for the people of our country. So that's one of the main reasons why we voted for him back for the next, for the second time in office.
01:50Can you run a country putting people first? Can you run a country putting people first? Yeah, you can run a country putting people first because I mean, without the people, you're not there. You know where without the people and the poor people is the one that bringing you up.
02:05In the midst of the celebration, re-elected Prime Minister Philippe Pierre came out to the streets of his own neighborhood,
02:12Castro East East, to walk alongside his own people. A powerful image that sets the tone for the years to come.
02:19Oh, I am very happy about it. You see the people are celebrating. It's a very, it's a very important time for us, for the people. I want to thank God for them for giving us that resounding victory.
