00:00And in France, the first round of the 2026 municipal elections is underway, with more than 48 million eligible voters.
00:08According to data released by the Ministry of the Interior, nearly 19.40% of eligible voters have already cast
00:14their ballots in these elections,
00:16which serve as a barometer for the presidential elections, scheduled for April and May of 2027.
00:22Falling stations open their doors at 7 a.m. local time and are expected to close no later than 8
00:28p.m., after which the first results will be announced.
00:32Candidates who do not obtain the required majority would have to complete in a runoff to be held on March
00:3722.
00:37On this day, citizens will elect council members, who will then be responsible for appointing the next mayor from among
