Recapping the Dolphins victory and pointing out two very obvious things: Tua is not the same player he once was and the true face of the Dolphins is De’Von Achane.

00:00Welcome to the show. Victory Monday. Crowder's got his victory. Colorful streamer thing. Twizzle wiggle. I got a nice little gift bag from Hard Rock. And that was part of it. And I said, Hey, give this to Ava. He's like, 12. But I thought like, Oh, girls like little, you know, like pom pom type thing.
00:29He's like, how about I give it to Chaz? Like he's three. This will be better for him. The guy that thinks his 22 year old son wants to hang out with him on a Friday night. Actually, now that I think about that, let me give that to DJ. He loves those things. So Dolphins have won four of their last five. They've won three in a row. Yesterday's win felt super weird to be weird is the word you felt weird to me. I was telling Crowder, we were talking
00:59coming up to the, uh, the studios. And, uh, and I said to him, you know, I'm the guy who's always like, Hey, wins a win. And you celebrate a win. Wins a win. This one, I'm having a tough time celebrating. Uh-oh. Breaking his microphone. I don't know where how Leroy sits. Goodness gracious. He's all piled up on the table. Um, this one felt odd to me. I'm having a tough time just saying, Hey, celebrate a victory on this one.
01:29Um, and there were numerous mistakes that the Dolphins made. Dolphins were trying their hardest to give that game to new Orleans. It's one good enough to take it. And it was crazy. I mean, Devon HN absolute monster. Minka had a monstrous game. Your guy, Riley Patterson is money, but man, they tried.
01:54Yeah, but he, but he keeps going, but they still won't kick a long field goal. I told you. They still won't kick a long field goal. Hey, Jason Sanders. See ya. I wonder, I wonder, but what are you wondering? But I'm, what are you wondering? He can't kick a long field goal. He's, he's, he's kicked one. Yeah. Yeah. That's right. He's kicked one. That's right. There's been how many games? 12. Right. But that's not because you can't.
02:24Hulk hit a 56 yard field goal to win a game. And he needs those Mpick. Do you think, do you think that Riley Patterson could do that? Riley Patterson put on a messy esque performance in the first half yesterday had a Hattie and you're worried about Riley Patterson? No, no, no, no. It's not messy as messy. He hit three free throws. It's not that it's completely different than that. Anyway, I'm not getting bogged down in that. Joe Shad posted on Twitter.
02:50Tua is currently 23rd in the NFL and passer rating, 18th in yards per attempt, 16th in touchdowns and first in interceptions. And Joe Shad writes, he has to be better. He knows he has to be better. Problem is, and it took me a while to get here. I think that's about it for him. I kind of think he's toast. Also terrible week.
03:18The week prior to have the, would you rather have Tua or Bryce Young conversation? Because Bryce Young, Bryce Young's better than Matt Stafford.
03:26Like Bryce Young.
03:28Bryce Young's throwing 40 on fourth and two.
03:29Holy mackerel. Yeah. Tua's toast, man.
03:33And the thing that scares me with Tua is, we talked about it. Can he not do it physically? He looks, he looks different than he did two years ago.
03:40He does. He does.
03:41They've given up hope in him. The offense isn't based around him throwing.
03:44You know, did you see Dan Orlovsky's tweet? Now, I don't know what he meant by this, but I'm going to assume he meant kind of what you're alluding to there.
03:54Dan Orlovsky tweeted today, the Miami Dolphins are a dangerous football team right now.
04:01They have totally transformed their offensive identity.
04:05Now I'm assuming, because I thought the offense looked like garbage aside from Devon HN.
04:12So I'm assuming he's saying, Hey, they're a running team.
04:16They're going to rely on HN.
04:17HN is going to motor this team wherever they go.
04:20By the way, it doesn't look like he can be stopped.
04:22No one seems to be able to stop them.
04:24Offensive lines playing well enough that he's got holes.
04:28But Dan Orlovsky, to say they're a dangerous football team, that they've transformed their offensive identity.
04:35I don't know if it's a transformation more than a realization that what you just said, they don't trust Tua to do anything anymore.
04:44They're not putting a lot on them, only 23 attempts.
04:46But just this, this is the stat that killed me.
04:49He had 23 chances to throw the ball.
04:51He made that into 157 yards and an interception.
04:55HN touched the ball 22 times, turned it into 134 yards, and damn near two touchdowns.
05:03He's the, he's what they have.
05:05That's it.
05:05Like, if I'm, if you're Mike McDaniel, who do you want to have the ball more in their hands?
05:10Tua or HN?
05:11Orlovsky noticed something that Mike McDaniel admitted at the podium after the game yesterday.
05:17He said, quote, for the past month, I've seen the most physical football team that I've had since I've been here.
05:23So no longer a finesse team.
05:25Now they're a physical team.
05:26The offensive line, as much as we hated on it all season long.
05:30And imagine if Eichenberg was back.
05:32I'm just saying.
05:33I'm just saying.
05:34Has looked as good and as consistent and now got Austin Jackson back and had a really productive game yesterday,
05:41as maybe we've seen in Mike McDaniel's time here.
05:45And now you mentioned 22 touches for HN.
05:49The Dolphins are 5-0 when HN has 20 or more touches in a game.
05:53And since week eight, the Dolphins are averaging 151 rushing yards per game.
05:58That's third most in the NFL in that span.
06:02They're a rushing football team.
06:04The offensive line is cohesive.
06:07I listened to the Dolphins post-game show.
06:11It wasn't ours.
06:12It was Jermon Bushrod and Travis Wingfield.
06:16Travis Wingfield.
06:17Wingfield.
06:18What'd you say?
06:19Wingo.
06:19Trey Wingo.
06:20I have a tweet from Trey Wingo that I wanted to read.
06:23That's so funny that you say that.
06:24That's my man.
06:25And I think it was Jermon Bushrod who said, hey, when's the last time you've heard Jonah Savayanaia's name?
06:30Like, that tells you something.
06:33So, maybe to what McDaniel is alluding to and what Dan Orlovsky is saying and what we're seeing with our own eyes with Devon HN.
06:42Like, I mean, was it Chris Myers on the call yesterday?
06:44Like, they couldn't believe.
06:46I mean, it was eight, nine, ten yards at a clip with that guy.
06:50Can you not tell me?
06:51I knew he was a mauler.
06:52Savayanaia.
06:53Savayanaia.
06:54Whatever.
06:54I knew.
06:55I knew.
06:56Look.
06:56You can look at maulers.
06:58Short arms.
06:59Big, thick necks.
07:00You know, Samoans are a lot of maulers.
07:02Let's be honest.
07:03He doesn't need to kick back 40 times a game.
07:05He has to grab somebody.
07:07It makes perfect sense now.
07:08He's thriving in a run first offense, and he was the worst guard in football in the throw first offense.
07:14But a chance of mine.
07:15I was pissed when they started giving Ollie Gordon the ball.
07:17I said, for what?
07:19Wasn't there?
07:20Was there a fourth down play?
07:21Was it Ollie Gordon or Jalen Wright that they gave?
07:23Jalen Wright.
07:24I mean.
07:24For what?
07:25What?
07:26Why do people try to outsmart themselves?
07:30When something is working so flawlessly.
07:34Just give it to me.
07:34I was livid.
07:38Livid.
07:38And I like Ollie.
07:39Wright can play, too.
07:41But Devon HN, you put the ball in his hands, you can't stop him.
07:45He finds daylight.
07:46Top five running back in the world right now.
07:49I mean.
07:49Let's trick him with Jalen Wright.
07:51Thank God they didn't give him up at the trade deadline.
07:54Now you've got to think about giving him a massive contract.
07:57Oh, he's about to get paid, paid.
07:59I mean, you really have to think about it.
08:01Whether you think you're going to be garbage or not, you've got to think about giving that
08:05guy a massive contract.
08:07He doesn't want to go to the playoffs.
08:08Let's get to the offseason.
08:11Chris Greer is sleeping like a baby because he doesn't have to worry about, do I give this
08:16guy a massive contract if we're going to be a middle-of-the-road team?
08:19Chris Greer drafted HN.
08:22He brought back Minka.
08:23Come on now.
08:23How about they got rid of Chris Greer?
08:25They've gone on a three-game winning streak.
08:27Oh, again.
08:28That, you know what?
08:29That game yesterday was a tortoise fighting a sloth.
08:32It was bad.
08:33That was a boring, boring game.
08:35It was boring.
08:35I thought the commander's game was bad.
08:38That was terrible.
08:40Dolphins with 1,000 rushing yards in the first 12 games of a season.
08:44You ready for this list?
08:45Because when you really start looking at the numbers, maybe Devon HN.
08:49I've been against this.
08:50I'm wrong, clearly.
08:51Maybe he's worth the big contract next year.
08:53He's the guy.
08:54The way you would look at Tyreek Hill and go, you know what?
08:56If you have him on your offense, you're going to be a potent offense.
09:00HN's the guy.
09:02HN, you look at him and you go, hey, you've got HN?
09:05You're set.
09:06Larry Zonka, Delvin Williams, Ricky Williams, Devon HN.
09:11Not bad company.
09:13I don't know who Delvin Williams is.
09:15Me neither.
09:16McDale.
09:17McDale.
09:18McDale.
09:19His 112 rushing yards per game over the past five games ranked third most in the league.
09:24He's also averaging the fifth most yards before first contact per rush.
09:28That goes back to offensive lines playing well, but Crowder.
09:31He's doing these.
09:32He's putting up these numbers when everybody in the league knows.
09:35Let Tua throw.
09:37Sure.
09:37Stop the run.
09:38And he's putting up those numbers.
09:39That's why I'm saying, damn.
09:41Like, maybe you consider paying him.
09:44I mean, the problem is, I don't know how it's going to work with Tua's contract and everything
09:48else.
09:48Like, we'll get there at some point.
09:49Well, tell Tua to take a discount.
09:51I was going to say, don't talk about Tua when you talk about HN.
09:54You get into a room with Tua.
09:55He cannot leave until he agrees to restructure.
09:59So, did you watch yourself, Tua?
10:02No, we talked about HN.
10:03It's like a Suge Knight Vanilla Ice situation that I'm restructuring that contract.
10:09Sit him down.
10:10Lock the door.
10:11Yeah.
10:11I want to see Tua hanging on the side of a building by his ankles the way Vanilla Ice
10:16allegedly was by Suge Knight and his crew when they had him sign over all the rights to
10:23Ice Ice Baby.
10:24Allegedly.
10:25Well, oh, yeah.
10:27The coach right now is struggling because everybody's doing the same thing.
10:30Stop Jonathan Taylor.
10:31Daniel Jones won't beat us.
10:32They're doing that to the Dolphins.
10:34There's no way a team walks in saying, A-Chan's going to beat us.
10:38They try to stop him.
10:39Tua can't beat you, obviously.
10:40A-Chan's still going for 100 yards a game with everyone staring.
10:44There's times, like in game, I tell you, when you play a Randy Moss or those guys,
10:48Adrian Peters and the Dana Tomlinson, you just stare at him.
10:51Okay, let him beat us.
10:53You're not going to let that guy beat you.
10:54A-Chan is that for the Dolphins right now.
10:56This week, they're staring at him.
10:58Last week, two weeks ago, they're staring at A-Chan every single play,
11:01and he's still going off.
11:02He's special.
11:04Hurricanes handled their business at Pitt.
11:06They are going to get burned by the college football playoff committee.
11:10We're going to talk about it today.
11:11John Michaels is going to join us.
11:13Mike Cunio is going to join us.
11:14I cannot figure out.
11:15I don't want to get into it now because I want to get to headlines,
11:18but I cannot figure out for the life of me how you can give the nod to a team
11:22that has the same number of losses, and you've beaten them head-to-head.
11:26I can't understand just based on the eye test how you can't look at Miami
11:32and say that's one of the 12 best college football teams in the nation,
11:36and they belong in the playoffs.
11:39I can't fathom it.
11:40We're going to talk about it with John Michaels.
11:41He's fire hot.
11:43He should be.
11:44Fire hot.
11:45Better be fire hot than Mario Cristobal.
11:48Sports.
11:48Well, I don't know.
11:50I was going to say Mr. Ball.
11:51Maybe we could just give him a little nickname.
11:52I don't know because I've thought about this.
11:55You have 10 wins, two losses.
11:57What more can you ask for?
11:59And I know what you're going to say.
12:00Don't lose to SMU.
12:01Don't lose to Louisville.
12:02Not even that.
12:02For him to put his neck on the throat of teams and worry about style points
12:07and not running the ball slowly.
12:07I am going to read you some stats of their point differential this season
12:12that are going to blow you away.
12:13So, I'm telling you, what you're going to see is a very worthy Miami Hurricanes
12:21football team get completely burned by a BS system.
12:27Yep.
12:27Yes.
12:27Oh, I believe they're one of the best 12 teams in the nation.
12:30There's no question.
12:31That's what the committee's supposed to be for.
12:33They're the best team in the ACC.
12:34They're the best team in the ACC by a mile.
12:37They would beat Virginia and Duke right now.
12:38By a mile.
12:40Yes.
12:40Anyway, now I'm going to get fired.
12:41No, no, but what's going to end up happening is period end of story
12:45because by every metric you're going to read the numbers later,
12:47the Canes are as deserving as any other team in the nation outside of
12:49Ohio State or whatever.
12:51The committee's going to tell you we value better losses than better wins.
12:55Yep.
12:56And that is insanity.
12:58It's insanity.
12:59We value.
13:00Strength of loss.
13:01We value you losing to SMU in Louisville more than we value you beating
13:06Notre Dame and Florida and Florida State.
13:09Miami is a good loss for Notre Dame, but Miami doesn't have good losses in
13:14their mind.
13:15Even though they play head to head, well, they have better losses than you
13:18have better losses.
13:19And what are we doing?
13:20I mean, what are we doing?
13:21We are twisting ourselves into pretzels to get Notre Dame in the playoffs and
13:26keep Miami out of it.
13:28Why schedule?
13:29Y'all make fun of Florida for scheduling cupcakes.
13:31Why would I want to play Notre Dame early in the season if it doesn't matter?
13:34It doesn't matter.
13:35It literally can only hurt you.
13:38Bring on the Kennesaw State.
13:39That's what you have to do.
13:40You want to play a good team?
13:41You got to wait till the end of the season.
13:42It's the only time that it would matter.
13:44Anyway, sports talk on QAM is presented by Paramount+.

14:15The Dolphins open as favorites on the road against the Jets, who won yesterday because of Nick
14:21Fat and his big time field goal.
14:24Hey, man.
14:25I don't care what he looks like.
14:27What are you, 56?
14:2756.
14:28That's a monster.
14:2956.
14:31Play of the game, we should mention.
14:32Minka Fitzpatrick has picked two, and he's been balling.
14:37Yeah.
14:37His game yesterday was, I mean, that was Minka.
14:41I heard, is this true?
14:43That was his first sack in his career?
14:45Ever.
14:45That was his first sack in his career.
14:48That's crazy.
14:50Crazy.
14:51He must not be blitzing that much.
14:53No, no.
14:53They don't use him that way.
14:55That's crazy.
14:56That's what he said in Pittsburgh.
14:57He never blitzed, and he had one sack in Pittsburgh, but it got called back for like
15:01unnecessary roughness or something.
15:03So that was his first career NFL sack.
15:05That's what happened to me.
15:08Why y'all laughing?
15:09Says it, it's fine.
15:11Yeah, you're right.
15:12It will hold me back, man.
15:13Yeah, I know that you're saying.
15:14Damn you.
15:16Well, technically, you have more sacks at Minka Fitzpatrick.
15:19Yeah, you're one and a half, right?
15:21It's Mike Nolan.
15:23What are you doing?
15:24What are you doing?
