00:00Negotiations between SAG-AFTRA and AMPTP have officially been suspended as of Wednesday night.
00:07The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers declared that they have halted talks
00:11with the union given that the gap between the parties is too great. Negotiations between the
00:16AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA have been suspended after SAG-AFTRA presented its most recent proposal
00:21on October 11th. After meaningful conversations, it is clear that the gap between the AMPTP and
00:27SAG-AFTRA is too great and conversations are no longer moving us in a productive direction.
00:33However, SAG-AFTRA shot back at the AMPTP telling members that the studios walked away from talks
00:38with the union and accused them of using bullying tactics and misrepresenting to the press by
00:44overstating the costs of the proposal. They have done the same with AI, claiming to protect performer
00:49consent but continuing to demand consent on the first day of employment for use of a performer's
00:54digital replica for an entire cinematic universe or any franchise project.
00:59The SAG-AFTRA message added,
01:00The companies are using the same failed strategy they try to inflict on the WGA,
01:05putting out misleading information in an attempt to fool our members into abandoning our solidarity
01:10and putting pressure on our negotiators. But just like the writers, our members are smarter than
01:15that and will not be fooled. The development came after the fifth day of negotiations between
01:19the union and studios and streamers since SAG-AFTRA initially went on strike on July 14th.
01:24The news strikes as a major blow to industry workers who are hoping that the actor's strike
01:29would conclude imminently given the end of the WGA strike and having major company CEOs sitting in
01:35on the negotiations. For more on this story, hit to THR.com. And for the latest entertainment
