00:09The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned that Cruise zoomed into a June negotiating

00:13session where he not only addressed the AI issue, but also urged the AMPTP to support

00:18the Guild's position on stunt performers. SAG-AFTRA sometimes calls in performers during

00:23negotiating sessions to discuss issues in which they have expertise. Additionally,

00:27any member can request to address a negotiation session, and the Guild can evaluate the value

00:31of having them participate. During the negotiations, SAG-AFTRA had a handful of proposals on the table

00:36concerning stunt professionals, which the union represents. The union also sought to institute

00:41more guardrails on the use of generative AI in entertainment. Of course, despite the Mission

00:45Impossible star's participation in the talks, the Performers Union and the AMPTP failed to come to

00:51a deal when the union's film and television contracts package expired. Starting July 14th,

00:56performers began picketing at studio lots and corporate headquarters and withholding their work.

01:04asked the union to consider allowing actors to promote films during a strike given the fragile

01:08state of movie theaters, reminding his union that promotion matters to actors too. A source who

01:13was present says it felt, quote, uncomfortable. SAG-AFTRA's current strike rules maintain that

01:17publicity, including conventions, interviews, tours, or promotion via social media of any struck work
