Brown is nominated for best actor in a drama for the NBC series 'This is Us.'

00:00It's a show that promotes the goodness of humanity.
00:03And with so much of everything sort of going in the opposite direction, it's really nice
00:08to have a show be recognized that just sort of up-lifts people.
00:19What was the most surprising thing about being on two hit shows back-to-back?
00:23People always say that lightning doesn't strike in the same place twice.
00:27So you're not anticipating it.
00:29Honestly, when I went to This Is Us, the fact that the show has the popular success that
00:35it got was kind of amazing from the beginning because it had all those Facebook hits.
00:38But to get the critical success that it had as well wasn't something that we anticipated.
00:43We were like, we're on network television.
00:45We're going to make our good show and hopefully people will enjoy it.
00:48And, you know, we'll watch the Emmys and everybody will have a good time, whatnot.
00:51But the fact that we got a seat at the table for that party is really, really something special.
00:58So I don't know if you know this, but I think you're on the cover of our magazine this week.
