00:00If you talk to me, then I will guide you.
00:03Every day, we're being bombarded by scammers.
00:06I've got no money in my bank.
00:08I'm on, I don't have to pay.
00:11But we are fighting back.
00:13Working with ethical hacker Jim Browning, who hacks into scam call centres,
00:18we can tap into this criminal network and track down the victims to stop the scammers before they steal.
00:25You should not buy those gift cards.
00:26You're going to lose your money.
00:28What was that? What was that?
00:29I can assure you that nothing they're saying is true.
00:32You're on the phone to a scammer, my love. You need to hang up the phone.
00:35All right!
00:37This is Scam Interceptors.
00:45On today's episode, identity theft on an unprecedented scale leaves one man at risk of losing thousands.
00:54Online banking, his internet provider.
00:56It's literally everything. It's literally everything.
00:57This is like the most appalling identity theft that we've ever seen.
01:01It's mid-afternoon in the scam hub and ethical hacker Jim Browning has some news for the team.
01:09So, Nick, this is new access that we've got from Jim today.
01:14It is indeed, yes.
01:15He's got us two things.
01:17So, the first one is this server that you can see here, which has got about ten different phone calls happening on it at the moment from fifteen-odd agents.
01:25They are running a broadband provider impersonation scam.
01:30Seems to be very popular at the moment, that type of scam.
01:32It does, and alongside this server, he's got five of the computers in the office that we can see.
01:39There's one, which we think is a manager's computer, and that's this one here, who runs all the remote access.
01:47This is great. Jim literally doesn't sleep, does he?
01:51I don't think he does.
01:52He can't.
01:52With this intriguing new access in place, it doesn't take Nick long to notice a scam at a fairly advanced stage.
02:03So, this here is the boss's computer, the guy who does the right access.
02:07And if you look, you can see start bar at the bottom there, and then a second start bar higher up.
02:11So, he is actually remotely accessing somebody's computer.
02:13And it's doubly confusing, because whoever's computer he's accessing is actually using two screens.
02:18So, can you see, you've got a start bar here, and then a second one to the right, so they've got two monitors.
02:23Yeah, yeah, you can see that, yeah.
02:24But it's so small for us, it's really hard to see.
02:28Though we can't hear the scan, we can see the scammer's screen, and it appears he's routing through someone's computer.
02:38Arlene, can you jump up and just relay what you can see there?
02:44Oh, here we go, details.
02:45We just saw...
02:46He's going so fast, isn't he?
02:47He is rapid.
02:50We need to find details for the victim, and fast.
02:54Fortunately, via the scammer's screen, we get a lot of clues.
02:59Yeah, I've got a name, Tony John.
03:01He lives in Swansea.
03:04That information might be out of date, but he says he's retired and lives in Swansea, so I doubt he'd be moving a lot.
03:11Mark's quick work has given the team a name and a possible location for the man.
03:17And we need to get in touch with him, and we need to get in touch with him fast, because Nick has spotted something very concerning.
03:23He's in this person's PC.
03:24He's in this person's PC.
03:25That's all I can tell so far.
03:26So, he's going site by site.
03:29There's nothing to say that this person's currently on a call, is it?
03:33No, I don't think they are.
03:34No, it just sounds like they've got the access.
03:36They've still got this remote access.
03:37That's why it's so important when we speak to people to say to get it off your device.
03:42We think the scammer could be controlling the man's device without him even realising it's happening.
03:49And despite him not actually being on a call with the scammer, remote access software likely installed during a previous scam call could now be allowing the scammer to raid his device for password details and login credentials.
04:05So, here we go.
04:05Yeah, Tony John is in his Facebook.
04:07So, can we go on to this Facebook site?
04:09And Swansea, definitely volunteer at Marie Curie.
04:12The massive problem for this man, of course, is that with the scammer in his actual password manager, he's just been sat there lifting passwords out of it, copying and pasting them onto his own device.
04:21So, of course, what he can do now on his own computer is try and log into every single different account that that man has on whatever financial institutions.
04:28So, even if that remote access is lost, the scammer's already got the information they want because they've gone rooting around through this man's most personal file and keeping it for themselves.
04:41It's horrific to see.
04:42But we need to get into contact with this person, don't we?
04:45We need to find out exactly who he is so we can try everything we can to warn him what's going on.
04:49So, team, I've just found the Facebook that we saw flash up on the screen there.
04:52I've sent it through to you.
04:53Well done.
04:53On that, on the Facebook, we'll just see if there's any other contact details or any other way of contacting him.
04:59The team are now able to use the man's name to try and locate him.
05:03And a suspected social media profile gives us some clues as to how we might track him down.
05:09Yeah, when you see Marie Curie, is that a local one, do you know?
05:12Or is that going to be the national?
05:14That's a good question.
05:15Tony John, collection box coordinator, Swansea.
05:18There, that's his title.
05:19So, if we can find Marie Curie, Swansea, that could be a way we can get through to say what's going on.
05:26Can someone have a look to see if there's a contact for a charity called Marie Curie in Swansea?
05:30Because this person says their role is a collection coordinator.
05:35So, if we can locate that specific department, we can speak to them potentially and just say what's going on.
05:42Because they may have other ways of contacting him.
05:44Yeah.
05:45Tony might work for a charity, Marie Curie.
05:49So, the team uses that as a starting point.
05:52But we have to work fast as the scammer is stepping things up.
05:56OK, so we've just seen now that he's gone into a money transfer.
06:02This is incredibly worrying because they're literally looking like they're trying to set up a transfer now in this man's name that he will know nothing about.
06:13We're going to have to try everything we can to get in touch with him.
06:16We're going to try and find friends.
06:17We're going to try and find work colleagues.
06:18Whatever we can do and whatever it takes to stop this.
06:22What's he doing with these details now?
06:24So, he's just making a log on his computer of absolutely every single password that Tony uses for every single account.
06:34From his NHS account through to his email, through to his social media accounts, his online banking, his internet provider.
06:41It's literally everything.
06:42It's literally everything.
06:42It's a really, really bad situation to be in because, of course, whilst he's not losing any money right this second, all of that info that the scammers have got there, they can very easily use to defraud him quite seriously further down the line.
06:56So, I'd be really worried if we weren't able to get in touch with him.
06:59With so many passwords at his disposal, as well as access to Tony's email address, the scammer could change them all and lock Tony out of his accounts.
07:10Or worse, simply transfer money from his bank accounts to himself.
07:15He's even got the password to his GP surgery.
07:20That's awful.
07:21It's like, this is like the most appalling identity theft that we've ever seen, I think, on the show.
07:27Like, every single thing that he has is compromised.
07:29Yeah, everything that is private to this man, this stranger based probably the other side of the world, is just rooting through it and keeping it for themselves.
07:40We do still have that number for Marie Curie in Wales, which we could call.
07:45I'm of the mindset that, because they might even be able to direct us to a slightly more local office for Swansea.
07:52Yeah.
07:52Beyond the potential financial loss, the amount of Tony's personal information in play is something the team haven't seen before.
08:03It makes it all the more important we reach him as soon as possible.
08:07I try calling the charity that Tony seems to be linked to.
08:13Hello there.
08:14I'm afraid I've got a bit of a strange request, but I'm really hoping you can help me.
08:18We managed to get someone who knows Tony on the phone.
08:25Fundraising manager, Hannah.
08:29Hello there.
08:30Hello, Hannah.
08:30My name's Rav, and I'm calling from the Scam Interceptors programme.
08:33Hiya.
08:34Sorry about this.
08:35It's all out of the blue, I know.
08:36But, Hannah, this is what's happening.
08:38One of your collection coordinators is being scammed right now, and it's very, very nasty.
08:44We've got no way of contacting him.
08:46Is there any way you can try and contact Tony for us as a matter of urgency?
08:51Because what we're seeing is awful.
08:53Are you able to tell me anything that I can say to him that he's done?
08:57What we know is the scammers have got access to his computer, and they are looking through his computer in terms of all his passwords and his email addresses and all sorts.
09:11They're routing through right now.
09:13So what we need to do is speak to Tony as a matter of urgency.
09:16So if you can get this message to Tony, Hannah, that's brilliant.
09:19And if there's any drama and you can't get hold of him, would you mind phoning me back on the number I've just given you?
09:24Thank you, Hannah.
09:25I really appreciate it.
09:26I'll speak to you soon.
09:28Bye-bye.
09:29As Hannah attempts to reach Tony, the scammer still seems to have access to Tony's laptop.
09:37Then.
09:39Hi, is that Hannah?
09:40Yes.
09:41Hi, Hannah.
09:41It's Rav.
09:42Thank you so much for calling.
09:43So how did you get on with Tony?
09:44Yeah, so I'm on the phone to Tony now through my laptop.
09:47OK.
09:48So the plot thickens a little bit because his laptop is actually with a friend who is trying to run, like, a thing to clear his laptop.
09:56Right, OK.
09:58So, gets a bit confusing.
10:01It's not the update we were expecting.
10:04It seems Tony may have sent his laptop to a tech expert.
10:09Maybe he's been scammed and he's just sent it away to get fixed and that's why...
10:13Well, he must have had the scam call to put all the things on it, I think.
10:16Let me start with the scams, buddy.
10:17Yeah, go for it.
10:20Hello?
10:20Hi, is that Tony?
10:22It is.
10:23Tony, hello.
10:23This is Rav Wilding from the Scam Interceptor Program.
10:26Hi.
10:27Hi, Tony.
10:28I hope to be the last person I thought I'd end up speaking to, though.
10:32Oh, I'm sorry about that, Tony.
10:34Yeah, it's a bit of an odd situation for us to meet like this.
10:37But, Tony, can I just explain what's happened?
10:40Right.
10:40So, Tony, we've been monitoring these illegal overseas call centres
10:44and we've just seen that someone in one of these call centres
10:47was looking at, basically, the images from a computer laptop screen
10:53and we've worked out that that seems to be yours.
10:56Right.
10:57So, am I right to think that you don't have the laptop with you now?
11:00Yeah, I've had a bit of a scam problem over the last day or two
11:05and my laptop at the moment is in with a friend of mine
11:09who is a computer engineer
11:10and he's trying to sort it out and clean everything down from me.
11:14OK.
11:15Is this a friend...
11:17Yeah, is it possible for us to contact the friend
11:20because what's going on is quite serious, Tony,
11:23in terms of what the scammers are able to see him do with this laptop?
11:27Tony's computer engineer friend, Adrian,
11:31actually has the laptop in his possession.
11:34It's interesting how this started.
11:37On Monday, I had trouble with my broadband,
11:40so I rang Virgin on their 15034 number.
11:44Yeah.
11:44And he said, OK, yeah, we'll have a look at it.
11:47Half an hour later, I had a phone call from this chap,
11:51from Virgin, who was going to help me out.
11:54And he has had control of my computer
11:57and he's been doing all sorts of weird and wonderful things,
12:02trying to convince me that he was from Virgin, blah, blah, blah.
12:06And he said, tell you what I'll do now.
12:09To get Cassie's hackers out,
12:12I'll put £1,000 into your account
12:14and I want you to pay me £850.
12:17And he actually showed me a screen dump of my bank's statement
12:22with £1,000 in it.
12:25So obviously what he did,
12:27he obviously put £1,000 in and looked at it straight away.
12:30Tony says he didn't lose any money,
12:33but was shaken enough to get his friend
12:35to make sure any software the scammers had told him to install
12:38was removed.
12:40Yeah, I mean, it's...
12:42Unfortunately, Tony, this is one of the scams
12:44we have sadly seen time and time again.
12:46What's worrying, though,
12:47is they would have put some sort of software on your computer
12:50and I strongly suspect that's still on there.
12:52And that's why we need to speak to Adrian now
12:55and see if we can get that removed.
12:57So, Tony...
12:58That's what he's working on.
12:59Finally, some answers.
13:01But we now need to get Adrian
13:03to remove that remote access software.
13:07Hi, is that Adrian?
13:08It is, yeah.
13:09Adrian, hello there.
13:10It's Rav Wilding from the Scam Interceptors programme.
13:12Hi.
13:13Thanks for taking my call, Adrian.
13:15I don't know how much you know about what's happened today.
13:18While I'm working on the laptop,
13:19so where sometimes I'm the most...
13:21I think it's a disappear at one point.
13:24So I disconnected the internet.
13:29Again, I ran a scan.
13:30I've run antivirus software scans.
13:33Yeah, so I think, Adrian, what's happened,
13:35just so you know,
13:35whilst you were online,
13:39it seems that a scammer that we were monitoring
13:42was also observing everything that you were doing.
13:46So the scammer has seen literally everything
13:48that was going on there.
13:50So there's clearly some software that's still on that device
13:54and we believe it's called ConnectWise.
13:58ConnectWise, which also goes by the name ScreenConnect,
14:01is legitimate remote access software
14:04that can be used by people you know.
14:07For example, friends, family or colleagues
14:09to remotely access your computer to repair it, for instance.
14:14But scammers are misusing it.
14:16It seems that while Adrian was diligently cleaning up Tony's laptop,
14:21all the while, because of the remote access installed on it,
14:25scammers had been watching over his shoulder,
14:27monitoring his every move.
14:29What I've done, in the last 10 minutes,
14:34I'm performing a system restore
14:36to before when the scam did happen,
14:40which was yesterday.
14:41Because the scammer has seen so much of Tony's information,
14:45we advise Adrian to restart the cleanup process on his computer
14:50and also install the latest software
14:52that will ensure total removal
14:54of any remote access applications once and for all.
14:58Well, that was a new one for me.
15:01So it actually worked out that it was someone
15:03who's actually trying to help the situation,
15:07a computer engineer,
15:08who, without his knowledge,
15:10even an expert in the field didn't realise
15:12that everything that he saw
15:13when he opened the lid of that laptop
15:14is being watched and recorded by the scammers.
15:17It's the perfect example, as well, I think,
15:19of this idea that it's not just our money
15:22that's valuable to scammers.
15:23It is almost data as much as money,
15:25which is currency to them.
15:27And that scammer's had the most I've ever seen
15:30in terms of personal information
15:31out of a single human being.
15:33Poor old Tony.
15:34Every single account on his computer was compromised,
15:37from NHS through to his banking information,
15:39and everything.
15:41Hopefully now, this will all be sorted,
15:43but he's going to have a lot of password changing to do.
15:47If you think you've been scammed,
15:49then there are some steps you need to take straight away.
15:53Firstly, call your bank.
15:55The number is usually on the back of your bank card.
15:59Then remove any software that scammers have asked you
16:02to install on your phone or laptop.
16:05If you're not sure how to do this,
16:06then ask a friend or family member.
16:09Change your passwords on as many online accounts as you can
16:12and keep a close eye on them over the coming days
16:14to see if there's any unusual activity.
16:18Tell your friends and family
16:19if they receive any online approaches
16:22purporting to be you,
16:23they could be fake.
16:25Report the crime to action fraud.
16:27Go to actionfraud.police.uk
16:29or call 0300 123 2040.
16:33If you're in Scotland,
16:34report the crime to the police on 101.
16:37And if you've had a scam text,
16:39forward that to 7726.
16:42That spells spam on your phone's keypad.
16:45The more that you report,
16:47the more that can be done to stop them.
16:49Don't click anywhere.
16:55Don't click anywhere at the moment.
16:57Down my password,
16:58it says perfect,
16:59and then it's got mobile number.
17:00Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
17:03I might tell you, wait.
17:04Don't click anywhere.
17:05The team are listening in to another scan.
17:08This time,
17:09it's a woman who,
17:10just like Tony,
17:11has been convinced to download software
17:13that gives scammers the ability
17:14to see into her device.
17:17In this case,
17:18her smartphone.
17:18Click on Agree and Continue.
17:22Cannot press send me a sector and it's it, no?
17:25No, just click on Agree and Continue.
17:27Click on the right box.
17:28I've got that.
17:29The scammer is based here,
17:31in Kolkata's notorious neighbourhood,
17:34Sector 5.
17:36He's got all my access, guys.
17:37We don't have this guy's screen.
17:39Though we can't see what the scammer is doing,
17:42we can hear him.
17:44Nick, we just flicked on.
17:45A very busy morning so far.
17:46There's another scam attempt we can see going on.
17:49And this is a lengthy call that's happening.
17:53From the sounds of it,
17:54there's already some sort of remote access
17:55that's on this female's device.
17:57Certainly sounds that way to me.
17:58And the giveaway was that the scammer,
18:01from the moment we joined the call,
18:02was saying,
18:03don't click on that,
18:04don't click on that.
18:04And obviously,
18:05how could he know?
18:05If they're in her phone,
18:08that's a really dangerous place to be
18:10because they could either
18:11see everything that's on there,
18:12including her banking information,
18:13if it gets there,
18:14but they could even be controlling her device,
18:16which is even more sinister.
18:17That is, of course.
18:18And like this,
18:19in the wrong hands,
18:20it's just a sophisticated tool for fraud.
18:21And at the moment,
18:22when she's got a scammer in her phone.
18:24And at the moment,
18:24we are trying to arrange the information,
18:27the accounts information of the hacker
18:29who are using your Amazon account.
18:31At the moment,
18:32we are arranging the fake transaction
18:33to the hacker's account.
18:35Click on that one.
18:37It sounds as if the scam
18:39has already reached an advanced stage.
18:41The scammer,
18:42possibly posing as Amazon's
18:44customer support department,
18:46is claiming they will help the woman
18:48secure her account from hackers
18:50by arranging a fake transaction.
18:53In reality,
18:55it's a real one.
18:56Her money to them.
19:01So fake transaction.
19:03This is bad.
19:04She's going to be close to transacting money.
19:06This is worrying.
19:07So it's been going on at least an hour.
19:09I'm going to text her.
19:11The danger with this, of course,
19:12is he can see it.
19:14So we've got to take that risk.
19:15You're telling me
19:16how would you like to be notified?
19:18Yeah, we can hear it.
19:22That's one of those, isn't it?
19:23How would you like to be notified?
19:26Let me try and make a call.
19:29It might not go through.
19:31Nick, can you read out that number for me?
19:3207.
19:33Okay.
19:34Yeah.
19:36Oh, I've just got something.
19:37Oh, God.
19:40Right, she's got your text.
19:41She's got your text.
19:43I'm going to phone it as well.
19:44Let's put doubt in her mind.
19:45Someone's ringing me.
19:48That's me.
19:48Don't answer anyone at the moment.
19:51Let's do it again, Nick.
19:52Do another one.
19:54Oh, she left a name.
19:56Hang on, let me try that again.
19:56There's a name on her answer phone.
19:59Now, just wait.
20:00If anyone calls you, ma'am,
20:01they will test you.
20:02You can simply hang up the call.
20:04Although she won't take our calls
20:06and our text message warnings
20:08don't seem to be being read,
20:10a voicemail message
20:12has given us a clue,
20:13a possible name.
20:15Nick gets confirmation
20:16by searching the scammer's computer.
20:19Got it, Laura.
20:22Come on, pick up the phone.
20:24Pick up the phone.
20:26What happened at the end of the call, guys?
20:29Um, it just dropped.
20:31Alice, who was monitoring the call
20:33in the background
20:34as we attempted to get in touch,
20:36has bad news.
20:37The call has inexplicably dropped.
20:41Without that,
20:42or the scammer's screen,
20:43we are completely in the dark
20:45as to whether Laura
20:46is still locked into the scam
20:48or not.
20:49But we can't take any risks.
20:52She's so close to losing money.
20:55I've just sent two more scam warning texts
20:57just to make sure she completely
20:59hangs up any call that she may be on
21:01and contacts her bank.
21:03With seemingly little chance
21:06of getting through to Laura,
21:07as the scammers continually
21:08use their remote access
21:10to her device
21:10to reject our calls,
21:12we need to try and find
21:13another way of getting in touch.
21:15And we think we may have found a way
21:17through a social media profile.
21:20Uh, okay.
21:21She's, I mean,
21:22there can't be too many Laura.
21:23Okay, okay.
21:26Okay, there's tons of family members.
21:28Okay, can you see her daughter?
21:29She looks old enough.
21:31We can only hope her daughter
21:33reads the message
21:34we've left on her Facebook profile,
21:36but not much
21:37is going our way so far.
21:39Okay, so Nick,
21:40you've just sent, um,
21:41a message on Facebook there.
21:42We found the daughter
21:43of this lady.
21:45What night there.
21:46We can't hear it.
21:47We can't see it.
21:47And we've got enough
21:48of her details,
21:49you'd think,
21:50to be able to,
21:51to catch it.
21:53We are trying
21:54every route we can
21:55to speak to Laura
21:56and ensure
21:57she isn't transferring
21:58any money.
21:59But our options
22:00are thinning.
22:01I hate to say it,
22:02but
22:02they've dispositioned
22:05it as in call,
22:06which means that he's
22:07still talking to her
22:09on the phone.
22:13Come on,
22:13there's still time.
22:14There's still time.
22:15There might be someone
22:15we can contact
22:16that can get there.
22:17Now knowing for sure
22:19that Laura is still
22:20on the phone
22:21with the scammer
22:21and how close
22:22they were to her money,
22:24it's time to start
22:25trying every option
22:27available.
22:28All right,
22:28I'm going to just see
22:30if we can get hold
22:30of what I think
22:33is going to be
22:34a brother.
22:35We try what we think
22:36is the brother's
22:37place of work.
22:43Hello there.
22:43I've got a bit
22:44of a strange request.
22:45I'm calling from a
22:46programme called
22:47Scam Interceptors
22:48on the BBC.
22:49This is quite urgent,
22:50but basically I need
22:51to speak to someone
22:51that works there.
22:52Thank you so much.
22:53If you pass me over.
22:55The person on the line
22:57offers to help
22:57by putting us through
22:59to a manager.
23:01We've got someone
23:02that's been scammed
23:03at the moment,
23:03and I believe her relation
23:05is one of your
23:06instructors.
23:09I really need someone
23:10to get a message
23:11to get him to call me
23:12in the office
23:12so I can talk him
23:13through what's happened
23:13so he can try
23:14and help her.
23:16Thank you for your help.
23:18All right, cheers.
23:19Bye-bye.
23:19Bye-bye.
23:22Okay, so I've just
23:23managed to speak
23:23to the general manager
23:24where I believe
23:25the brother works
23:26and he's going to get
23:27a message to him
23:27straight away
23:28and get him to call me
23:29here in the office.
23:29So I think this is
23:30our best chance
23:31of getting through
23:32to him and physically
23:33getting someone
23:33to the address.
23:35We wait in hope
23:36for a call from the man
23:37we hope is Laura's brother.
23:40But on Nick's social media,
23:42there's an update.
23:43Oh, hang on.
23:44One of the relatives
23:45has read my message.
23:46Okay, so that's the daughter.
23:47She just read my message.
23:49Here we go.
23:49She's writing.
23:50She's writing.
23:51This is the first time
23:52we've ever run an intercept
23:53through Facebook Messenger.
23:54Yeah.
23:56Do you know what?
23:56If it works, it works.
23:59Oh, the sky's full.
24:02This is Scam Interceptors.
24:03Rav speaking.
24:05Is this Rav, yeah?
24:06Yeah.
24:07Is that Robert?
24:07Yeah.
24:08It is Robert.
24:09My boss has just called me
24:11to say you've been
24:11trying to get a hold of me.
24:12Yes, Robert.
24:13This is urgent, okay?
24:14I don't want to worry you.
24:15But someone called Laura,
24:17I believe a relation of yours.
24:19Laura?
24:21Yeah.
24:22She is being scammed
24:23at the moment.
24:23She is currently being scammed
24:25and we need someone
24:26to get a message to her
24:27ASAP
24:28to get off the phone
24:29to the scammers.
24:31Right, okay.
24:32So I work on a programme
24:33called Scam Interceptors.
24:34It's on the BBC
24:35and we've just seen
24:36the scammers are,
24:37we believe,
24:38have control over her phone
24:39and they're trying
24:41to get her to move money.
24:42It is urgent
24:43that someone gets round there
24:44and tells her
24:45to get off the phone.
24:46Okay, I'll run up
24:47for a house now.
24:48How far away are you, Robert?
24:50It's missing five minutes.
24:51Robert, that's brilliant.
24:52If you can get round there
24:53straight away,
24:54tell her to get off the phone
24:55because she's going
24:56to lose money.
24:57Yep, yep.
24:57Superstar.
24:58Thanks, mate.
24:59Bye-bye.
25:01Brilliant.
25:02Robert's five minutes away.
25:04Wow, okay.
25:05Five minutes away.
25:06Okay, he's going to go
25:06straight to the house.
25:07Brilliant, okay.
25:08As ever,
25:09it's a proper team effort.
25:11As I get the brother on board,
25:13Nick continues messaging
25:15Laura's daughter.
25:17So the daughter
25:18can't get through.
25:20I'm going to stand by
25:21in case he calls us back.
25:21This is going to be
25:25the longest five minutes
25:26I think I've ever had.
25:30With no call audio,
25:32no scammer screen
25:33and no ground interceptors
25:35to update us,
25:36in the hub,
25:37we have no choice
25:38but to sit and wait
25:39for news from Robert.
25:41That's it.
25:41That's five minutes.
25:42Hi, Rob.
25:48This is Rav
25:48in the scam interceptors hub.
25:50Hiya, Rav.
25:51I've just, uh,
25:52I popped up there
25:53and told her
25:54to put the phone down.
25:55Um,
25:55I think they were just
25:56about to confirm
25:57the payment
25:57but hopefully
25:58they got it in time.
26:00Okay,
26:00so as far as you're aware,
26:02Rob,
26:02she has not
26:03made the payment.
26:04She hadn't made
26:05any payment,
26:06no.
26:07And I,
26:07I got her
26:08at the time
26:09and as she answered the door
26:10I said,
26:10put that phone down
26:11right now.
26:12You've told her
26:12to put the phone down.
26:13Yeah,
26:13and they kept trying
26:14to call back.
26:14I told her
26:15to disconnect the call.
26:16They tried calling back
26:17and I told her
26:18to swipe up
26:19and block the number
26:20every single time
26:21that comes through.
26:22Rob,
26:22you are a legend.
26:24Thank you so,
26:25so much for doing that.
26:26No worries.
26:27Cheers.
26:28Bye-bye.
26:28Bye-bye.
26:34It seems Robert
26:39has saved his sister
26:40from a potentially
26:42devastating scam
26:43but just to be
26:44absolutely sure
26:45we want to speak
26:47to her as well.
26:49Hi,
26:49is that Laura?
26:50Yeah,
26:51hi there.

27:18calls like this,
27:19just hang up the phone,

27:49to identify
27:50this group of scammers,
