'Idol' hits series lows for either ABC or Fox in its first head-to-head matchup of the season with NBC's singing competition.

00:00As both The Voice and American Idol wrapped up their auditions this season,
00:11they also suffered some ratings declines on Monday night.
00:14But in what marked the two singing competitions first head-to-head airing of the season,
00:19NBC's The Voice came out well ahead of the ABC show.
00:23The Voice led primetime with a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49 and 9.73 million viewers.
00:35Even though those figures were down, they easily beat American Idol's 1.1 demo rating and 6.05 million viewers.
00:42For Idol, the demo was an all-time series low on either ABC or when it aired on Fox.
00:46And the total viewer count was the smallest on ABC.
00:49Like strawberry wine, 17, the hot July moon.
00:57Over on The Voice, Monday's episode marked the end of the blind auditions.
01:01As this season's four coaches, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, reigning champ Kelly Clarkson,
01:06and first-timer John Legend all filled up their teams.

01:15Meanwhile, American Idol's Monday episode also marked the end of this season's
01:18cross-country auditions as judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan
01:23handed out the final golden ticket sending singers to Hollywood.
