00:00Chris Harrison has officially parted ways with the Bachelor franchise.
00:04After stepping aside during the controversial 2021 season of The Bachelor, The Hollywood
00:09Reporter has confirmed that the host and producer, who has served as the face of the hit ABC
00:13franchise since 2002, has officially exited the role after reaching a confidential settlement
00:19and reportedly big payday.
00:21Warner Horizon and ABC Entertainment on behalf of The Bachelor franchise released a joint
00:26statement announcing the news writing, News of Harrison's departure comes one day after
00:39the premiere of the 17th season of The Bachelorette, which has been without its host since early
00:44February when Harrison announced that he was stepping aside and taking an indefinite hiatus
00:49from the franchise following a controversial interview where he defended Rachel Kirkconnell,
00:54who was the front-runner of the historic season of The Bachelor featuring the first
00:57Black Bachelor Matt James when racially offensive behavior in her past resurfaced.
01:03Harrison offered two social media apologies following the February 9th interview, including
01:07one announcing his hiatus.
01:09I am dedicated to getting educated on a more profound and productive level than ever before.
01:14I want to ensure our cast and crew members, to my friends, colleagues and our fans, this
01:19is not just a moment but a commitment to much greater understanding that I will actively make
01:24every day.
01:25Following his hiatus, former Bachelorette leads Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristow were later
01:29tapped to step in as his replacements for Katie Thurston's Bachelorette season, which
01:34premiered on Monday night.
01:35Bachelor in Paradise, meanwhile, is the next cycle to head into production and returns with
01:39its seventh season mid-August.
01:41With Harrison gone, the summer spinoff will reportedly be filling the role with a rotating roster of guest
01:46hosts, with names including celebrity superfan David Spee.
01:50The Bachelorette will then return again in the fall with star Michelle Young, who is James'
01:54runner-up and who will be the third Black Bachelorette following Adams and Rachel Lindsay.
01:59A host or hosts for her season have yet to be announced.
