Comedian Dave Chappelle was assaulted on stage during his set at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday night, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, people attended the show and footage circulating on social media.

00:09online, seeming to show Chappelle on stage performing when a man rushes at him and tackles
00:14him to the floor. The man is then seen being dragged away by security. LAPD told the Hollywood
00:20reporter that the 23-year-old suspect Isaiah Lee was arrested on suspicion of assault with
00:25a deadly weapon. He's currently being held on $30,000 bail. NBC News Los Angeles reported
00:31that the man was armed with a replica gun that can eject a knife blade when discharged correctly.
00:36It wasn't immediately clear if the man tried to use the weapon. But it shows Chappelle recover
00:41his composure and joke it was a trans man, a reference to the ongoing controversy surrounding
00:46some of the comedian's jokes in his Netflix specials that have been construed as transphobic.
00:51It was also reported that Chris Rock, who performed earlier in the evening, then came
00:55on stage and joked,
00:56Later, Chappelle thanked Jamie Foxx for helping during the incident, and Foxx addressed the
01:03crowd, saying,
01:04For every comedian who comes out here, this means everything. You're a genius. You're a legend.
01:09I enjoyed myself thoroughly, and we're not going to let nothing happen to you.
