Transcript
00:00You remember that? Yeah? And then we were all like, man, it can't get any worse.
00:04We were wrong.
00:05It's been a huge week in Late Night. We had Trump, Trump Russia, Trump Harry Styles,
00:10okay, actually, Corden Harry Styles, and a whole lot more. The Hollywood Reporter's Late Night
00:15Lately has watched it all and put together a one-stop shop for the most memorable moments.
00:20So let's take a look back at the funniest and strangest ways hosts have covered the week.
00:25First up, Jimmy Kimmel took it upon himself to explain the Trump administration to the kids.
00:30Introducing an animated video in the style of schoolhouse rock, which parodied the famous song
00:34I'm just a bill. This time it's I'm just a lie.
00:39I'm just a lie. Yes, I'm only a lie.
00:43Trust me, guys, it's all around informative, educational, and catchy.
00:46Plus, it's fully endorsed by the president himself.
00:49Okay, that was a lie. Just go watch it.
00:52Over at the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the host has had plenty of beef with Trump lately.
00:56First of all, you're a bad president. Please resign.
00:58Second of all, the president, of course, told Time Magazine that the host was someone with
01:03no talent who had filthy things to say.
01:06But Colbert's latest plea with POTUS is simple.
01:09Do not fire Sean Spicer.
01:12Because if it happens, where am I going to get my daily dose of veiled anger and condescension?
01:17The Late Late Show's James Corden looked a little different here during Tuesday's monologue.
01:21That's because it's actually Mr. Harry Styles, who opened the show on the second evening of his four-night residency,
01:26which also included tons of bits with the singer throughout the week, and a performance of his new song,
01:32Sign of the Times.
01:34He sings a little bit better than that.
01:35But the highlight of the takeover had to be Thursday's Carpool Karaoke,
01:39which moved from singing to a fashion-off to an ultra-romantic rom-com scene reenactment fest.
01:45Something like that.
01:46I want you to draw me like one of your French girls.
01:48The Daily Show, Late Show, and Late Night all found a way to make a few jokes about Monday's late-breaking development from the Washington Post
01:56that the president shared classified information with Russian officials.
02:00Trevor Noah said the news disproved his assumption last week after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey
02:05that things couldn't get worse.
02:07Once again, he said, this sounds like a story we would invent.
02:11For his part, Colbert joked about how the information Trump shared supposedly included code words like,
02:16the package has been delivered, the squirrel is in the basket, the idiot is in the oval.
02:21Over on NBC's Late Night, Seth Meyers wove the story into his Closer Look segment and posed the obvious question,
02:27how can you let highly classified information fall into the hands of Donald Trump?
02:32Classified? Do you want it? Here you go.
02:34Coming off a recent GQ interview with The Rock, where he called a potential run for president a real possibility,
02:40Jimmy Kimmel said a potential 2020 smackdown between Trump and Johnson could be the greatest race for president
02:46slash pay-per-view event of all time.
02:49So, of course, Kimmel imagined what that event would look like with an epic WWE supercut.
02:53He is scared. You're right.
02:55We're looking at what would happen if a homeless lumberjack banged an Oopa Loopa.
02:59Electomania 2020.
03:01All right, those are the highlights, but you have to see the full clips and more from the best moments from Late Night this week
03:06at THR.com.
03:08Which was your favorite bit?
03:09Which show tackled Trump the best?
03:11And how about that Harry Styles?
03:12Let me know in the comments, guys.
03:14For The Hollywood Reporter News, I'm Paul Costabile,
03:16and let's end on some more romantic Styles Corden, shall we?
