It was a night of firsts at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards, and we here at The Hollywood Reporter want to make sure you didn’t miss a moment, so let’s take a look at the highlights of the night.

00:07It was a night of firsts at the 2017 MTV Movie and TV Awards,

00:11and we here at The Hollywood Reporter want to make sure you didn't miss a moment,

00:14so let's take a look at the highlights of the night.

00:16The show kicked things off with a scorching opening number by hosts Adam Devine and guests

00:21like Hailee Steinfeld, Rebel Wilson and Josh Gad, who offered their own take on the night's

00:25Movie of the Year winner Beauty and the Beast. Changing the film's title song into Movies

00:30and TV to honor the award show's new name, Devine and Company got the ceremony off to an

00:34appropriately rowdy start. The first big winner of the night was Emma Watson, who won Best Actor

00:39in a Movie for her portrayal of Belle in Beauty and the Beast. The win marked the first time

00:44an actor had been recognized in a category that was gender non-exclusive, and Watson proved

00:48that, like her character, she can carry her own against the best of the boys. Watson showed

00:52some love for the awards presenter Asia-Kate Dillon, the star of Showtime's Billions who

00:57self-identifies as non-binary. Meanwhile, Show of the Year winner Stranger Things star

01:01Millie Bobby Brown also took home the golden popcorn for her win in the Best Actor in a

01:05Show category, praising the Netflix show's Duffer Brothers for giving her the opportunity

01:10to play such a badass female character. Something else we thought was badass was this year's

01:14winner for Best Kiss, Ashton Sanders and Jerrel Jerome from Moonlight. They beat out

01:19fellow nominees like Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, and in their speech, the actors said

01:23the award represents more than a kiss. This is for those who feel like the others, the misfits.

01:28Now, speaking of misfits, the night included sneak peeks of some of the summer's biggest

01:33movies, including everyone's favorite outcast superhero in Spider- Homecoming, starring

01:38Tom Holland and Zendaya. We also caught a glimpse of the new film adaptation of Stephen King's

01:42It, which promises that no one will be getting over their irrational fear of clowns anytime soon.

01:47Gal Gadot also hit us with a new Wonder Woman trailer, leaving little doubt that the film's

01:52action will be worthy of a warrior princess. The night also featured heartfelt moments, like

01:57when the Fast and Furious cast accepted the Generation Award, which Vin Diesel dedicated

02:01to someone he called our brother Pablo, the late Paul Walker. On a political note, Best Host

02:07winner Trevor Noah thanked France for making the right decision in their presidential election.

02:10Plus, Tracee Ellis Ross thanked fellow presenter Rep. Maxine Waters for being such a fearless

02:16voice in today's political climate. And finally, we can't forget the hot musical performances

02:21that punctuated the night, from Noah Cyrus, Big Sean, J Balvin, Pitbull and Camila Cabello.

02:27All in all, the MTV Movie and TV Awards proved that no matter how much things change, one thing stays the same.

02:33A room full of the biggest names in entertainment is always going to be, well, entertaining.
