00:00Dave Chappelle says he regrets saying those words on Saturday Night Live last year.
00:09Back in November, Chappelle delivered a poignant monologue on SNL where he said he wanted to give
00:14Trump the benefit of the doubt, knowing full well the country was still in shock over the
00:19former reality TV star's upset over Hillary Clinton. But Chappelle took back those words
00:24on Monday night at the Robin Hood Gala in New York City, according to accounts shared over
00:29social media and a video from the event. Chappelle said during a routine at the gala,
00:33I was the first guy on TV to say, give Trump a chance. I effed up. Sorry.
00:38The former Comedy Central star also said he completely disagreed with Trump's travel ban
00:43attempt, which targeted Muslims. Chappelle said of the executive order,
00:47I think that is way out of step with the way people feel in America. Am I wrong about that?
00:52Every day you wake up and you never know what he is going to do next. He's exciting,
00:56like you thought a black president would have been. For more from Chappelle's routine at the
01:00charity gala, head to THR.com. I'm Tiffany Taylor for The Hollywood Reporter News.
