Dave Chappelle does not want the audience member who assaulted him onstage to distract from his history-making run at the Hollywood Bowl.

00:00Dave Chappelle's rep is speaking out after the comedian was assaulted on stage during
00:04his Tuesday night comedy set in Los Angeles. Chappelle's rep, Carla Sims, said in a statement
00:10to The Hollywood Reporter, the performances by Chappelle at the Hollywood Bowl were epic
00:14and record-breaking, and he refuses to allow last night's incident to overshadow the magic
00:19of this historic moment. Dave Chappelle celebrated four nights of comedy and music,
00:23setting record-breaking sales for a comedian at the Hollywood Bowl. During Chappelle's set
00:28at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday, a man rushed the stage and tackled him to the floor. The
00:32suspect, later identified as Isaiah Lee, age 23, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly
00:38weapon and is being held on $30,000 bail. The LAPD said Lee was carrying a replica handgun with a
00:44knife blade. It wasn't immediately clear if he tried to use the weapon, but police confirmed
00:49Chappelle was not physically injured in the incident. Chappelle is fully cooperating with
00:53the active police investigation. His rep also said, as unfortunate and unsettling as the incident
00:59was, Chappelle went on with the show. Netflix added in a statement, we care deeply about the
01:04safety of creators and we strongly defend the right of stand-up comedians to perform on stage without
01:09fear of violence. Chappelle was performing as part of Netflix is a Joke, the festival, an 11-day stand-up
