00:13for The Substance. The actress, who plays Sue in the body horror film, recently shared on the
00:18Happy Sad Confused podcast that her skin was damaged for nearly a year after filming wrapped.
00:23She explained,
00:24At the end, when they're shooting at my skirt in the beginning credits,
00:27when it's like the palm trees all around and they have all these long lenses from the bottom,
00:31that's just because my face was so f***ed up by that time that they couldn't, like, shoot my face
00:35anymore. The Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actress added that she was still struggling with acne from
00:40the prosthetics when she began shooting her next film, Kinds of Kindness. She noted that one of
00:45her characters in the Yorgos Lanthimos film had acne due to the acne from the prosthetics.
00:50I'm playing all these different characters. For one of them, we'll use all my crazy prosthetic
00:54acne. It took me probably a year to recover physically from all of it. The substance,
00:58also starring Demi Moore and Dennis Quaid, follows a fading celebrity who takes a black market drug,
01:04a cell replicating substance that temporarily creates a younger, better version of herself.
