00:00Your hand appears in the movie poster holding the rose. Is that true or false?
00:04True.
00:05What's the deal behind that then?
00:08Christina Hendricks is opening up about her surprising connection to the 1999 film American Beauty.
00:14The actress dropped by The Rich Eisen Show on Friday to talk about her celebrated career and dropped a little fun fact.
00:20Before she became best known for her role on the iconic AMC series Mad Men, Hendricks was actually featured on the American Beauty movie poster.
00:28I used to be a model and one of the gigs I got was to go and shoot a movie poster. I had no idea what the film was.
00:36The movie turned out to be none other than American Beauty.
00:39The actress explained that at the time there were two models, herself and one other.
00:43But in the end, only a portion of the entire image is her.
00:46We did different versions of her hand and her stomach and my stomach and her hand and my hand and both.
00:51And my hand made it in and her stomach made it in.
00:54Hendricks explained that she had no idea the film would go on to be a massive box office and critical success.
01:00It was just a plain old gig. I probably got paid 100 bucks or something.
01:04I was just told to have a job.
01:06Didn't know what American Beauty was going to be and then finally saw it and I was like, hey, that's my hand.
01:10American Beauty went on to win five of the eight Academy Awards it was nominated for, including Best Picture.
01:16Hendricks now stars on NBC's Good Girls, which is currently in its fourth season.
