00:00Tiffany Boone is addressing her 2018 exit from Showtime's The Shy following her
00:05sexual misconduct claims against her then co-star Jason Mitchell.
00:09Boone opened up on her Instagram account further explaining her decision to leave the
00:13series, saying she deeply loved Chicago and felt honored and privileged to be a part of
00:18telling their story and adding,
00:20But she continues,
00:24Following Boone's accusations, which came alongside similar allegations from The Shy
00:34showrunner Ayanna Floyd Davis against Mitchell, the actor was subsequently fired from the
00:39series. He was also let go from his job at Netflix's Desperados and was also dropped by
00:44his management, lawyer and agent. Boone left The Shy in its second season. She had previously
00:49expressed concerns about Mitchell's behavior to HR and to high-level producers during season
00:54one, but she says nothing was ever done to rectify the situation. She explains in part,
00:59Once we started filming season two, I quickly realized that not everyone was interested in
01:03creating a work environment that was conducive to each person feeling safe, seen and heard.
01:08I felt that if I didn't speak up, other voices that were trying to be heard would be silenced.
01:12Boone described her decision to leave The Shy, quote,
01:15especially being unsure if she would work on a project of that magnitude again, saying in part,
01:20I wasn't sure but I had faith that once I took that leap, I could be guided wherever I was
01:25supposed to go.
01:25And that risk ultimately paid off. The actress now stars in Jordan Peele's Amazon show Hunters
01:31and the Hulu miniseries Little Fires Everywhere.
