00:00We continue in Honduras, traveling through different areas of this Central American country where we find interesting stories and projects that are changing the lives of the population.
00:27We are heading to Tegucigalpa to find out what story our special correspondent Roberto Uvopresa has in store for us.
00:38At first glance, no one would notice that this man has lost both his legs and one arm. A train mutilated his limbs. But thanks to a government donation, he now walks and uses his two hands.
00:50I was in a wheelchair, and these prosthesis definitely changed my life, as I say, especially now that I have the support of a synthetic arm. It is very useful to have a secretariat that cares about people with disabilities. And that is very important because I am a beneficiary, and I thank the government.
01:13Victor talks about the Secretariat of Science and Technology, which is currently developing a program to manufacture prostheses using 3D technology that are provided free of charge to those who have lost limbs. Each prosthesis has a market value of $9,000.
01:31This year, so far, 39 upper limb prosthesis have been delivered, changing the life of many families. Now they can return to work, drive again, and carry out everyday activities.
01:49This project arises from the need that exists in the Honduran people to be able to provide an accessible space to obtain a prosthetist for a lost limb, or to correct the limb that has had some difficulty in its formation process.
02:07One of them is Melkin, whose arm was cut off by a drunk person. The Secretariat donated him a prosthetic arm, but it deteriorated over time, so they are now making him a new one.
02:17It is a task that I have no words to describe the value of what they do. Honestly, it is a great help for people who, by accident or by birth, have a situation like mine.
02:33Every day, students from all over the country visit the technology center to witness and collaborate on new projects.
02:46Joan, for example, was impressed and asked to do his internship here.
02:50Surprisingly, his creativity led him to make this prosthesis inspired by the pain of his mother, a victim of breast cancer.
02:57I made it yesterday afternoon, and I want to show it to the minister so that breast prosthesis can be made.
03:07Who is the first one for?
03:08For my mother.
03:09Why?
03:10Because she's a fighter, and she's very great to me.
03:14Creativity and necessity came together, and the breast prosthesis prototype emerged from his own initiative.
03:21It is still in its initial and trial version, but it already gives us hope and expectation because we also know of the great need that exists in this field.
03:31This is how we already have, on behalf of and within the Secretariat, the first breast prosthesis produced by a young Honduran man.
03:40But prosthetics are not the only project underway. This technology center has also developed drones for planting basic grains.
03:51In addition to facilitating the work of small farmers, this technology will improve production and guarantee food sovereignty for thousands of rural families.
04:00In addition to the development of bones, this technology will help us to laureate all theaches.
04:02This technology will help us to be in this field in terms of adding points, which is the source of the health and human history.
04:07Now you will see the lesser number of parts of the male platform.
04:08So it is the same for that, but again, the other parts of the site are already having a constant white-scale milestone,
04:10The main area is brought to the legalWEAR, which is the last thing around the construction of the car and the water.
04:12This is what we do, but the only means more than the other stuff.
04:17We are trying to adapt to our project without further knowledge as much, we do.
