00:23Bulos said he was aware of the announcement and hoped the ceasefire would hold.
00:27But after weeks of vicious fighting, it remains unclear whether the RSF or the Sudanese army
00:33is ready to de-escalate. Trump said last week he would intervene to end the conflict,
00:39which erupted in April 2023, triggering famine, ethnic killings and fears of another national
00:45split. Bulos had urged for both sides to accept the truce proposal without preconditions.
00:51On Sunday, however, Army Chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan dismissed the latest U.S. proposal
00:55as the worst he had seen, saying it sidelined the army and granted the RSF legitimacy.
