00:00The Sudan's rapid support forces are safe to enter into a three-month humanitarian truce,

00:06followed by peace talks with the Sudanese army.

00:09In a video speech late Monday, the paramilitary commander, General Mohammed Abdan Zagalo,

00:14reiterated the group's commitment to a three-month humanitarian truce

00:17and called for mediators to pressure the military to accept the proposal.

00:21The mediators, known as the Quad, have been trying for over two years

00:25to bring an end to the fighting and re-establish a path to democratic transition,

00:30which was hampered by military coups in 2021.

00:33They are comprised of the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates.

00:38Meanwhile, the Sudan's top General Abdel Fattah Buran rejected the ceasefire proposal,

00:43accusing the mediators of being biased in their efforts to end the war.

00:48Sudan's war began in April 2023 over a power struggle between the military and the RSF.

00:54The conflict has killed more than 40,000 people,

01:02and has created a grave humanitarian crisis with more than 14 million people displaced.
