The Sudanese army and the RSF have given initial approval to a US-brokered humanitarian ceasefire, starting a three-month truce and paving the way for a civilian-led transition, reports Sudan Tribune.
00:00The Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces RSF have agreed in principle to a U.S.-mediated humanitarian truce.
00:09Massad Boulos, the U.S. Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, confirmed both sides accepted the initial framework, with Washington now working on the final details.
00:19According to Sudan Tribune, Boulos said the agreement, still under negotiation, aims to establish a three-month ceasefire to allow aid deliveries and civilian evacuations, followed by a nine-month political process aimed at ending the war.
00:36The initiative is part of a framework set by the International Quad, comprising the U.S., Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, back in September.
00:45Boulos added that there are no direct negotiations between the two sides, with the U.S. coordinating communications to guide the process.
00:53He described conditions in El Fasher, North Darfur as extremely urgent and dire.
