00:22Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the network is poised to announce on Friday

00:25that its time-jumping family tearjerker will close its run during the upcoming 2021-2022 broadcast season.

00:32Representatives for NBC and studio 20th Television declined to comment.

00:36News that This Is Us will end after season six is hardly a surprise.

00:39When NBC renewed This Is Us for three additional seasons back in May 2019,

00:44sources told THR at the time that season six would likely be the last for the series.

00:48I don't want to hold on to the bad stuff anymore.

00:53I want to let it all go.

00:55Creator Dan Fogelman has long been adamant about the endgame for This Is Us.

00:59At the conclusion of season three, he said that his show was at its, quote, midpoint.

01:03While an official episode count has yet to be determined,

01:06it's expected that the final season will consist of around 18 episodes,

01:09likely enough to carry the series over the 100-episode threshold.

01:13This Is Us will likely go out as one of broadcast top-rated dramas among total viewers.
