00:00big news coming in this is related to the the torture apparent torture that was alleged by
00:12a woman from Arunachal Pradesh in China now China is coming out and saying that the allegations of
00:21harassment of Indian woman at the Shanghai Airport are false China is saying that they
00:27had taken actions against the woman according to the law and they were taken by the Chinese
00:34immigration officials according to the regulations so they are definitely there refusing to acknowledge
00:40Arunachal as part of India remember the woman was from Arunachal Pradesh and so was her passport
00:46which reflected that joining us for more on this is India Today Global's Pranay Upadhai Pranay
00:53they are clearly not stating as to why the woman was stopped but they are saying that it is
01:01according to their regulations now how do we perceive this? Anjali when India Today first
01:08brought her story to the world it was it was really shocking to know that you know how Prema was detained
01:14on a very ludicrous grounds and she was not given any reason she was not given any justification that
01:20why she was detained for for over 18 hours in Shanghai while she was only there on on Shanghai
01:28Pudong Airport for a transit because she was on her route from London to Osaka in Japan and she had a
01:34stopover of nearly about three hours in Shanghai but she was stopped she was isolated she was harassed and
01:40she was not given proper treatment and she was harassed because and she was asked she was told that you know
01:47she's traveling on an Indian passport while she should be having a Chinese passport because because China is as
01:55they claim that that Arunachal Pradesh is part of China and she should be having a Chinese passport but the
02:00intention was not to harass to to make her have a Chinese nationality or she was given any paper to apply for a
02:07Chinese passport but the intention was to harass her and the the way she was detained for about 18 hours
02:12and the way the kind of treatment she was given to this was clearly an harass a case of harassment and
02:17that's why the government of India has raised it in a strongest term both in New Delhi and in Beijing and
02:22as well as in Shanghai at the level of the local authorities that how an Indian national born in
02:26Arunachal Pradesh was detained and the kind of treatment she was subjected to in in China was
02:34totally unacceptable and Arunachal Pradesh will remain an integral part of India and
02:40in fact the government of India has also raised the issue that this behavior of the Chinese immigration
02:44authorities as well as of the Chinese eastern airlines people staff there was actually in
02:49contribution it's in contradiction with the Chicago and the Montreal convention which actually ensured the
02:55right of the civilian passengers uh you know across the the airlines and while they are they travel for
03:02transit because uh when you travel on any airport or any any airline you are uh you are on an air side
03:08you are not entering a territory of a country when you are on a transit flight so clearly uh Prema uh
03:14Wangjom Thangduk she was subjected to this harassment now the government of India has taken up this issue
03:19with the champions with the with the Chinese authorities and asked them in the strongest term that this they
03:24should uh they shouldn't uh they shouldn't be subjecting any Indian citizen this may have beat Arunachal
03:28bond or any other
03:38you
