00:01Spider- Far From Home is in theaters, giving us our first taste of MCU life post-Avengers

00:05Endgame.

00:06This week on Heat Vision Breakdown, we look at all the twists and turns in the new film

00:09and what they mean for the broader Marvel Universe.

00:11Be warned!

00:12If you haven't seen Far From Home, then ghost this video like is Nick Fury calling you with

00:15a mission, because yes, this video does contain spoilers.

00:24All right, before we go any further, can we preemptively nominate Ned and Betty for

00:32the MTV Movie Award for Most Adorable Couple?

00:34Is that a category?

00:35You should make it one MTV, and then give it to them.

00:38Okay, sorry, I should probably talk about Spider-Man now.

00:40Following the events of Endgame, Spider-Man is mourning Tony Stark.

00:43Aren't we all?

00:45And like the Hulk in Infinity War, is a little scared to go out there and be a hero.

00:48It gets worse when Tony grants him access to Edith, an extremely powerful AI that Quentin

00:53Beck, aka Mysterio, tricks Peter into handing over.

00:56Why would you ever trust a guy named Quentin?

00:58Mysterio then proceeds to beat Spider-Man up for roughly 90 minutes of screen time until

01:02Peter finally wins, with help from his Peter-tingle.

01:05Yeah.

01:06So things are looking great.

01:07Peter's dating MJ, Aunt May is consciously uncoupled with Happy, and Ned is still his

01:11guy in the chair.

01:12Unfortunately for Peter, but to the delight of audiences, J.K.

01:15Simmons' back is J. Jonah Jameson.

01:17Though this time around he's an Alex Jones-esque figure, and the Daily Bugle is a fringe conspiracy

01:21theory publication.

01:23More like the Daily Bungle, am I right, guys?

01:25No.

01:26Jameson publishes a video Mysterio took before his death, one that appears to show Spidey

01:30given an order to use Edith to execute members of the public.

01:33That liar!

01:34And the video also reveals something quite shocking, Mysterio unveiling Spider-Man's identity

01:39as high school kid Peter Parker.

01:40Ooh.

01:41I know, right?

01:42This is quite a game-changer for Spider-Man.

01:44The MCU is Buck's superhero movie tradition by doing away with secret identities, what with

01:48I Am Iron Man becoming the most famous line in the 23-film saga so far, but Spidey has

01:52always remained anonymous.

01:54Throughout his comic book history, a number of folks, from heroes to villains, have known

01:58Peter's secret, but he was only unmasked to the public once in his nearly 60 years of

02:02history in the 2006-2007 Civil War storyline.

02:05So what does an unmasked Peter Parker mean for the future?

02:08It's possible that he could deny Triple J is thick news.

02:11After all, the Daily Bugle is a conspiracy rag.

02:13In the comics, Matt Murdock was once outed as Daredevil.

02:15And while some members of the public believed the outing, he maintained he was simply a

02:19blind lawyer and went about his life.

02:21Could Peter continue going to school and try to live a normal life as rumors swirled about

02:25him?

02:26Any time he went to the bathroom for too long, I imagine people would start to question

02:28things.

02:29Another option, perhaps he goes full-time with a new Avengers team.

02:33He could continue his studies, perhaps under the tutelage of Bruce Banner or some other

02:36super-smart mentor Nick Fury hires for him, all the while going on big adventures.

02:40Like Pee-Wee.

02:41The second post-credits scene in Far From Home was potentially an even bigger move,

02:46one that hints at the overall future of the MCU.

02:48It's revealed that Maria Hill and Nick Fury were actually Skrulls the entire movie.

02:53With Ben Mendelsohn's Captain Marvel character calling Fury to tell him that their plans to

02:56give Peter Edith somewhat went awry.

02:58Nice going, Talos, you green idiot.

03:01We cut to Fury, who appears to be on a beach, but is actually on a ship full of Skrulls, apparently

03:05overseeing some sort of big operation.

03:07So what's going on, here's a few options.

03:10Perhaps Fury has taken on a role revealed in 2014's original Sin comic book, in which

03:14we found out the one-eyed S.H.I.E.L.D.

03:15commander had secretly been Earth's first line of defense, going about the galaxy looking

03:19for threats that could harm his planet.

03:21Or perhaps Fury is helping prepare for a Kree-Skrull war.

03:24After all, Captain Marvel established that there are Kree bad guys out there oppressing

03:27poor Skrulls.

03:28Jerks.

03:29As well as Kree soldier is still alive after all, for all we know, and he doesn't seem

03:33like a guy who takes defeat in stride.

03:35In the comics, the storyline saw the Kree-Skrull galactic war hit Earth, with the Avengers

03:39caught up in it.

03:40So he might be setting the pieces for such a confrontation to happen in the film.

03:43Little is known about Marvel's upcoming slate.

03:45There are films like Black Widow, Eternals, Shang-Chi, Black Panther 2, Doctor Strange 2, and Guardians

03:52of the Galaxy Vol. 3 all in the works.

03:54But we don't know where this Nick Fury storyline fits in.

03:56Is it part of a build-up that will take 10 years?

03:58I mean, Sam Jackson would be in his 80s by then.

04:01For the love of Feige, somebody tell me what's going on here!

04:04Hey, Spider-Man.

04:05Oh my god, can you tell us what's happening in the MCU?
