In the latest episode of Heat Vision Breakdown, THR breaks down the key characters who play a major role in 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania'.
Transcript
00:00The MCU is kicking off Phase 5 with the third installment of the Ant-Man series, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Quantumania.
00:06It's a journey through space and time like we've never seen before, but with all the recent collision of timelines and multiverses,
00:12it's time to break down where we left off with key characters in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Quantumania.
00:17Starting with Scott Lang, Ant-Man himself.
00:20We last saw Paul Rudd as Ant-Man in Avengers Endgame when he suddenly returns from the Quantum Realm five years after Thanos' snap wiped out half of the universe.
00:28Ant-Man teams up with the remaining Avengers as they travel through time to bring everyone back.
00:32I literally saved the world.
00:34Reunited with Hope Van Dyne and his daughter Cassie, the ex-con turned Avenger seemingly found his happily ever after.
00:40That is, until now, when Scott is sent back into the Quantum Realm by a lab experiment gone wrong,
00:46where he'll be forced to take on his greatest challenge yet.
00:49Next, Hope Van Dyne, aka The Wasp.
00:52Evangeline Lilly as The Wasp was last seen in Endgame in the Battle of Earth,
00:55fighting alongside Ant-Man and the rest of the Avengers to defeat Thanos.
00:59We first met Hope in the original Ant-Man and then saw her take on the mantle of the Wasp in the sequel.
01:04She and Scott worked together to save her mother Janet who was lost to the Quantum Realm for decades.
01:09Then Scott lost Hope and her parents in the blip.
01:11Now she's back with Scott and her family as they embark on yet another journey through the Quantum Realm.
01:16Now on to the original Wasp, Janet Van Dyne.
01:18Played by Michelle Pfeiffer, Janet is a former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who sacrificed herself while on a mission,
01:23saving thousands of lives, but ended up trapped in the Quantum Realm for 30 years as a result.
01:28When she's freed, Janet returns with superhuman powers,
01:31but as it seems Janet has also kept secrets from the family about the Quantum Realm,
01:36a mistake that might ultimately cost them.
01:38The next up is Scott's now 18-year-old daughter Cassie Lang.
01:41Played by Katherine Newton the last time we saw Cassie,
01:44she was all grown up in Avengers Endgame after an emotional reunion.
01:47Now Cassie follows in her dad's footsteps,
01:49taking on a scientific interest in the Quantum Realm.
01:52She's changed. She's an independent girl. She's impatient.
01:55When she creates a satellite device that sends signals down the realm,
01:59the gadget accidentally sucks the whole family deep into the Quantum Realm.
02:02But now equipped with her own Ant-Man soon, Cassie won't go down without a fight.
02:06Definitely needed for when the game goes up again for the King the Conqueror.
02:10Played by Jonathan Majors, you might recognize him as He Who Remains,
02:13the ruler of the Time Variance Authority from Loki Season 1.
02:16However, He Who Remains was killed by Sylvie in an event that sent a dangerous ripple
02:21throughout timelines and multiverses across the galaxy.
02:24In Quantum Mania, Kang is a menacing variant of He Who Remains,
02:28one possibly more dangerous than the rest.
02:30You cannot trust him.
02:32Janet warns against Kang and says he holds the power to rewrite existence and shatter timelines.
02:37It's safe to assume that Kang's introduction will be important going forward in the MCU.
02:41Last year, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced the 2025 release of Avengers The Kang Dynasty.
02:47Other characters we'll see in Quantum Mania include Michael Douglas as Hank Pym
02:50and MCU newcomer Bill Murray as Lord Kralis.
02:53And there you have it, breaking down where we left off with key characters in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Quantum Mania.
02:58So be sure to catch us on the next Heat Vision Breakdown.
