00:00What is all the love for the Barbie soundtrack and the movie in general meant to you?
00:05It's just been nice to see people go back into the movie theaters as, and it's almost like in this period of time in American history, especially in America, but a lot in Europe too and a lot of places in the world, seems like everybody's like pointing fingers at the other person and seems like one of those movies that like everybody went to see.
00:26And so the main idea behind the film was like accepting who you are and accepting other people for who they are, and I think that's like an amazing thing for the whole society to be in, you know?
00:39Why do you think you and Mark make such a great collaborative team and dynamic duo in music?
00:44We don't drive each other crazy somehow, which is amazing, and we have a lot of fun in the studio together.
00:52We have a lot of similar musical influences.
00:55I think we loved, even though we didn't meet each other until we were like in our early 30s, we love a lot of the same music, and we grew up listening to a lot of the same music like when we were really young.
01:06And I think that gives us an instinct that we each trust in the other.
01:11A lot of times songs from movies don't make it out of the best song written for visual media category, but of course Dance Tonight is nominated for Song of the Year.
01:20Why do you think it has resonated the way it has?
01:23Well, I think Mark, and this is Mark, he really knows how to make people move, and duo, you know?
01:30I mean, Mark and duo together is a great, they gave you electricity.
01:34I will say that was my idea to get duo on electricity, but they just, she does dance music so well, and he does dance music so well.
01:45That song is like, I just feel lucky to be on that one with them, you know?
01:49I helped a little bit, but I think it's basically duo's wonderful energy and Mark's incredible instinct with dance music, you know?
01:58It's so great, yeah.
01:59I'm Just Ken is nominated at the Oscars.
02:02When you found that out, what was your reaction?
02:05I was, of course, excited, you know?
02:07I'm just, you know, I don't know, you know, I did, you know, we won for Shallow, of course, so it kind of takes a little bit of the pressure off.
02:20You can just go have fun and, you know, you're not trying to get an Oscar.
02:26I mean, just like a humble brag, I guess, or just a brag, let's be honest.
02:31So, but it was, it's just fun to think about going there and seeing all that wonderful music performed and be there with your friends and people that you know and get to meet so many nice people.
02:45Any update on what we can expect from the I'm Just Ken performance?
02:49Because we are excited.
02:50Yeah, you know, I mean, we're trying to find Ken.
02:54We don't know where he is.
02:56He's disappeared.
02:58He went back to Barbie land.
02:59He's missing.
03:00That's what I'm saying, you know?
03:01So we're, we have, we're out to him, you know?
03:04I don't know if he's going to be able to make it, but.
03:07What about the other, the other Kens?
03:09Like, could we see Simu up on stage?
03:11Like, my dream Ken performance is all of the Kens.
