00:00Perfect afternoon for our partner on the field as we say hello to Allison Williams before we kick it off.
00:07Hey there Kevin Moose mentioned it turnovers have been an issue for the Seahawks especially quarterback Sam Darnold who threw four interceptions last week against L.A.
00:16But after that game they made two things very clear they have to get it corrected and they have complete confidence in their quarterback offensive coordinator Clint Kubiak told us during those picks Darnold was forcing the ball.
00:26He was late and not listening to his feet so in his drops when his feet tell him to move on in his progression he has to do that he said it's a hard lesson to learn but I have confidence in Sam as does this team and Darnold told us my feet and eyes have to be tied together and I got to understand when things aren't there I've got to put the ball and my team first.
00:45He's had a terrific run Mike McDonald thrilled with his quarterback acquisition this year a seven and three record for the Seattle Seahawks and for Mike McCoy the interim head coach nine straight home losses for the Titans trying to turn that around here today.
01:04Seattle wins the toss they have elected to defer so Tennessee will start with the football.
01:11Chimere D.K. is the deep man was on the injury report most of the week they were a little unsure as to whether he was going to go not only is he going to go he's going to play a big role as usual.
01:21He leads the NFL in all purpose yards this year.
01:23And we are underway in Nashville D.K. on the run to the 11 yard line and D.K. across the 30 good starting field position for the Titans and young quarterback Cam Ward the rookie from Miami the number one overall pick eighth in the NFL in past attempts but 33rd out of 34 in completion percentage.
01:52And I think that when we talked to Mike McCoy that was one of the big things he also is playing well over the last three games he's starting to grow up and you heard Allison talk about Sam Darnold and tying his his eyes to his feet and doing things that in his progression it's similar to Cam Ward the big thing they're getting the ball out a little bit quicker don't wait on the routes to develop if it's not there take your check down on first down they'll give it to Pollard and Pollard will try the left side gets three to the 36.
02:22And for this Tennessee Titans offense the number one thing is they've got to play clean Moose.
02:27It was amazing watching that game last week and you're at home and you've got all these false start penalties and for a team that's struggling during the course of the season the one thing you can't do is get behind schedule and make it more challenging for your offense.
02:39So they don't have a lot of margin for error and the only way that they're going to kind of get that consistency and confidence we talked about is to play clean football.
02:48Two tight ends on second and seven.
02:56Ward looking to throw for the first time but now he'll run he did it three times last week and it was one of the things that Mike McCoy told us about his young quarterback that's the next step when to pull it and run.
03:07Yeah what is the next best thing so you're going to go back through your progression you drop back there's your first read second read it's not there look at that space just take that right just there you go and nice little pump right there to get the linebacker off of his feet Patrick O'Connell grab some extra yards.
03:22Patrick O'Connell just brought up from the practice squad to start at middle linebacker with the injury to Ernest Jones.
03:32DK in motion on first down it's Pollard trying to pick his way for a couple into Seattle territory near the 47 and for Seattle's defense you mentioned it at the top of the broadcast it's a team that has the ability to pressure without sending more than four.
03:48What a luxury for this team you know you're going to get situations where it's obvious pass and you're going to have to sort through some things but they can just line those four guys up front and they can get pressure as well so when you don't have to blitz to impact the quarterback and move him off his spot it is such a huge component to your defense.
04:06Second down and seven DK in motion he gets the flip turns the corner blockers in front and diving for a first down he's going to end up short and it'll bring up the first third down opportunity for this Titans offense.
04:24Well Ernest Jones looking on we mentioned Patrick O'Connell getting the start today no Ernest Jones no Tyrese Knight very thin at linebacker for Seattle so they brought up Jamie Sheriff and Patrick O'Connell from the practice squad.
04:37But one of the reasons really kind of leaning on the run game what was one of the first things that Mike McDonald talked to us about when Ernest Jones was questionable at that time not sure if he was going to go today.
04:46That will hurt us because he's one of our guys there he's really good between the hashes number to numbers keeping those explosive run plays down.
04:54Been a huge struggle this year for Tennessee on third down dead last in the league Seahawks bring pressure one-on-one coverage downfield looking for DK and it's incomplete covered by Rick Woolen.
05:08And Tennessee the only team without an opening drive touchdown this year and a decision for Mike McCoy.
05:13Yeah but but here's the thing right it's about making plays the inside receiver going deep you're going to take that shot down there that that is a well-thrown ball by Cam Ward yet you've got to make that play team Ray DK has just got to finish that and make that play that's what when you're going through a tough year you kind of get into that position where you're waiting for somebody to step up and make a play and hopefully that generates that confidence in the team.
05:37Five for 14 this year on fourth down they'll go for it Ward looking finds his tight end it's Gunnar Helm and a first down for Tennessee to the 32 of Seattle.
05:52That's just a real nice job here these are really hard to defend especially when you get into these situations Gunnar Helm is going to come from your traditional tight end spot right there.
06:01He's going to drift over there really nice job is selling it and good job by Cam Ward finding him.
06:13On first down the handoff to Tajay Spears and Spears gets blasted Patrick O'Connell came in with two tackles last year big tackle here.
06:25Yeah really good job just that pursuit from the inside Tajay Spears goes to jump inside to get away from Devin Witherspoon and here comes Pat O'Connell from the inside out real nice contact there good tackle.
06:41Second down and nine opening possession of the ball game in Tennessee getting into scoring range.
06:55On second and nine Ward all day to throw nobody open and Ward throws as he's going down he finds Chig Okonkwo.
07:06Okonkwo fighting for extra yardage close to a first down he's got it.
07:12Demarcus Lawrence had everything but the sack.
07:15Again this is making plays right we saw Chimre Dike have an opportunity to make one this time it's Cam Ward this is outstanding.
07:22I mean just a great job of staying in there looking downfield continuing to have your eyes downfield.
07:29Chig Okonkwo on the opposite side of the field sees his quarterback in trouble gets over there gets into his line of sight as he's going to the ground.
07:39Sam Darnold watching that's where Mike Bacoy said he wanted to make sure Sam Darnold stayed.
07:44Play action for Ward backside pressure comes and he'll just throw it at the feet of Okonkwo incomplete Brandon Peely providing some pressure on Ward not a bad play for the rookie quarterback.
07:57Well that's one of the options right one of the options is just throw the ball into the ground and take an incomplete don't take a negative play but again use your feet.
08:04You came out here right now it's man-to-man coverage go go there you go right there there's your opportunity you got to make that decision quick as soon as you come out and stop your feet and take a look down the field this defense is very quick they're going to converge on you they're going to close all those escape lanes that were there.
08:20On second down the pitch to Pollard not a lot of room and a flag down in the secondary Boye Mafe running him out of bounds on the near sideline we'll see about the flag here for the first time from Ron Torber.
08:35Offside defense 153 Fabio Kennedy 152nd out.
08:47Tennessee Titans with Bo Hardig recalling the plays as the quarterback coach the only team without an opening drive touchdown this season he elevated to that role still under former head coach Brian Callahan and has stayed in that role under interim head coach Mike McCoy.
09:02Yeah you got to find a way to keep the consistency that was there when you lose that head coach so anything that can help Cam Ward in his first year of development is going to be a positive like that decision.
09:16Ward.
09:19Ward going to tuck it and run he's got some real estate and he'll slide down right near the first down yardage Drake Thomas covers him up about a half yard shy it looks like up the first down for Tennessee.
09:31You think the instructions where we need to work on our third and short game here you know they're trying to get into these situations build that confidence but again I would like to see that decision made just a little bit quicker for Cam Ward when he gets out into that space it's there and maybe that allows him to get that first down instead of coming up a half yard short.
09:49So they're going extra heavy here seven offensive linemen they've got 411 lined up in the backfield as the fullback on third down and inches the handoff to Julius Chestnut and Chestnut Powers for the first down and it's first and goal for the Titans.
10:06And this is what we talked about you know on the open you will see flashes from this Tennessee Titans team but they're just sparks during the course of the game this opening drive they have strung this together play after play no negatives right we haven't seen anything that has set them back yet at this time.
10:25It's hard for a team that's in transition to overcome adversity so to not be your own worst enemy is something that's unusual for this Tennessee team on this opening drive.
10:36And on first and goal on the sweep and there's a negative play as you speak it Daryl Tajay Spears buried back at the 15 a loss of 6 by Demarcus Lawrence.
10:47Yeah I mean he's just he's so smart right he sees it coming he's in a two-point stance that play works so much better when the end of the line is in a three-point stance and he's got his head down you're running in that play and Demarcus Lawrence is in a two-point stance he's able to see everything that's happening everything that's coming towards him that made it very easy for him to get upfield and make that tackle for a loss.
11:08Second down and goal from the 15.
11:17Six defensive backs for Seattle over the middle and a sliding catch made inside the five good grab by DK on the slide it's still third down but third and three from the three.
11:34And how about the throw and that's one of the things you'll see you know all these younger quarterbacks you got Patrick Mahomes and all these different arm angles and you know that one's dropped down to the side a little bit but what I was impressed by was the transition.
11:46The transition from the drop back to getting that ball off of his hand that that was really well done it was very quick.
11:52Three yards from their first opening drive touchdown of the season the 14th play of this game opening drive.
12:02Fake the pitch Ward looking nobody open pumps Ward around the corner and Ward takes a hit at the four Patrick O'Connell with his second big hit of the drive and it's fourth and goal in the field goal unit coming on.
12:16It's a shame because it was a really nice play design but the Seattle defense played it perfectly.
12:21It's that hard pitch he comes back he's got a slant on the back side the receiver ran through a couple of different windows but Cam Ward felt he couldn't get that ball through so I like the decision.
12:32You've got a great opening drive going don't risk a turnover at this point take the three points.
12:38Mike McCoy stressed it when we were talking with him the message to Cam Ward has been do the next best thing.
12:45We saw that when he dirted one at the feet of Chigokonkwa on the drive and now the next best thing.
12:49Just make sure you don't screw it up and lose out on a chance for points.
12:5522 yard field goal attempt.
12:57And the Titans have the early 3-0 lead over Seattle.
13:105-51 to go in the first.
13:13Titans have to feel pretty good about taking the lead and keeping Seattle's offense on the sideline.
13:18I think if you sell this a little bit more here it's going to allow you to get up and get in because you're trying to create these two windows here for your quarterback to get the ball into but this is why this is such an impressive job by Cam Ward.
13:31You just don't feel comfortable turning it loose into either one of those options and the biggest thing to Kevin's point don't give up those points.
13:39It was a great offensive drive to start this game.
13:42You created some positive momentum and let's see if we can just continue that.
13:47Let's let our defense get out onto the field now and see how they do on their first series against this Seattle offense.
13:53Yeah, the longest drive by time this season for Tennessee.
13:56You end up with points, a 3-0 lead and Sam Darnold had to cool his heels on the sidelines for the largest part of this first quarter.
14:07And that kickoff snared on a line by Cody White.
14:11And White runs into his own man and is down shy of the 30-yard line.

14:25See the Fox Sports app for details.
14:29Injured player after the kickoff on the return and athletic training staff is out to tend to Chaz Surratt, who is down on the field.
14:52While they tend to him, we'll step aside from Tennessee.
14:58Another linebacker injured for Seattle.
15:01That's going to be a concern for these Seahawks.
15:05They send Chaz Surratt into the blue medical tent.
15:09First down for the Seahawks, their first possession of the ball game.
15:13And on first down, Walker with a gaping hole over the left side.
15:18Turns the corner and he picks up nine.
15:21Run out by Darryl Baker, but a good start for Walker.
15:24Yeah, I mean, you're going to get a block coming from the inside on the wide receiver,
15:28but the guy covering gets too far inside.
15:30Right there, Darryl Baker just way too far inside.
15:33You lose contain.
15:35But that's an easy run to start for Seattle.
15:37There is a flag down, though.
15:39After the play was over, personal foul, unnecessary roughness.
15:44Defense number 53.
15:4615-yard penalty is added to the end of the play.
15:48Automatic first down.
15:49That's Jihad Ward, the 10-year vet.
15:5215 more for Seattle.
15:55All right, well, the offense comes out, and they do a great job.
15:57You know, they play clean football all the way down the field.
16:00A little bit of a stumble there in the red zone, but they get their field goal.
16:03The defense, who, when you watch on tape, they're a blue-collar group.
16:07They got Jeff Simmons out there.
16:09He's their big star.
16:09But they got some good players around Jeff.
16:12You expect them to be able to take some of that momentum that the offense just created
16:16and continue it, and they come out and they give up an explosive run,
16:19and then they put 15 yards on top of that.
16:21You've run one play.
16:22You're at the 48-yard line of the Titans.
16:24Yeah, 24 yards downfield with the run and the penalty.
16:28Jackson Smith and Jigba in motion for Seattle.
16:33Play action for Darnold.
16:35Pressure in his face, and he'll throw it in the dirt.
16:36But that pressure from Marcus Harris forcing the incompletion, it'll bring up second down.
16:42It'll bring us to a game break with Carissa Thompson.
16:44Thank you so much, Kevin.
16:45NFC North battle.
16:46Packers down three to the Vikings.
16:47Emmanuel Wilson filling in for an injured.
16:49Josh Jacobs gets the scoring going from a yard out.
16:52Packers in front, 7-3 over the Vikings.
16:55Kev?
16:56All right, Carissa.
16:58Second down and 10 here.
16:59Tennessee took the opening drive over nine minutes off the clock.
17:03They kick a field goal, and now Seattle with a second and 10 inside the 49 of Tennessee.
17:16Pressure coming.
17:16Darnold throws, finds his tight end, A.J. Barner.
17:21And Barner to the 43-yard line.
17:22Well, Sam Darnold and the interceptions.
17:24It was all the talk last week in the close loss to the Rams.
17:28You see the NFL ranks, tops in yards per attempt, second in completion percentage, but it's those turnovers.
17:33Allison mentioned it in the open.
17:35You talked about it as well.
17:36The turnovers are really the one Achilles heel so far for the Seattle team.
17:40And it's such a fine line that you have to balance, right, because you don't want to take away Sam Darnold's playmaking ability
17:46because you're continually talking about the mistakes that you made.
17:49So it's going to be up to him.
17:50We asked him, if you're not listening to your feet, who's talking to you?
17:53Because sometimes it's me.
17:55I'm waiting for that guy to get open.
17:56I want to make that big throw.
17:57Find that balance in between those two elements, and you'll get back into playing that consistent football without the turnovers.
18:05Well, sir.
18:07Offense, number 67.
18:11Five-yard penalty, third down.
18:15So back him up five, and now third and nine for Mike McDonald's squad.
18:23Charles Cross.
18:30Doesn't take much, right?
18:31Just a little wiggle.
18:32There come all the heads, too.
18:34That guy there.
18:35That one there.
18:46Darnold steps up.
18:48He's got Barner with room to run.
18:50And a first down for the tight end, and Moore punishing at the end of the run to the 34.
18:5613-yard gain, and Seattle gets a first down.
19:00And that's the thing for Sam Darnold.
19:02You know, you've got Jackson Smith and Jigba, and you're going to try to stretch downfield.
19:06You've got Cooper Cup.
19:07But if there's nothing there and you get through your progression, there you go.
19:10Just drop it down to A.J.
19:11Barner, Zach Charbonnet, Kenneth Walker.
19:14I mean, you've got some really talented guys that can take that check down and convert it into first downs.
19:21Walker back in and running back now on first down.
19:25Fullback Robbie Outz into the backfield as well.
19:29Nick Kaller up in motion.
19:32And on first down, it's Walker.
19:35Walker nowhere to go and somehow fights his way for a yard, maybe two.
19:41And for this offensive line for Seattle, they're going to go against the strength of Tennessee, that defensive line.
19:47It'll be an interesting matchup.
19:48Yeah, well, good to see Gray Zabel out there on the field.
19:51And he was questionable all week.
19:52That was my concern because you had already lost Jalen Sundle at center.
19:56If Gray Zabel's out, your left guard center are out.
19:58And now the strength of Tennessee's defense is Jeffrey Simmons and Devondre Sweat inside.
20:04Some big guys, some big, you know, able to control the line of scrimmage.
20:07How does that impact your protection?
20:09What does that do to the run game?
20:10So all those skill players we talked about, what was the impact of those injuries on the offensive line going to be?
20:15Shahid takes a direct snap, fakes the give to Walker.
20:18And Rashid Shahid snowed under at the 29.
20:23Pick up a four on the play.
20:25And for this Titans defense, you looked at this.
20:28You said the guy in the middle, Devondre Sweat, has got to have a big game.
20:31He's got to have a huge game.
20:32He's got to be able to control both A-gaps.
20:34Ulu Oluwatimi is a backup center coming in.
20:37He was in a training camp battle to get that starting job and lost out.
20:41Did a nice job last week.
20:43Jeffrey Simmons talks about Devondre Sweat's ability to take over a game because of his first step and his strength.
20:50If he can play at that level today, he can create a little bit of chaos inside for the Tennessee Titans.
20:54On third down and five, Darnold deflected away from Walker.
21:01Almost an interception for Marcus Harris, the rookie from Cal, but he's able to rip it away from Walker and the field goal unit coming on for Seattle.
21:10And again, I think you just, you got to go somewhere else, right?
21:13I think this is really good coverage on the outside.
21:16Look at that.
21:16I mean, he is in a position, Marcus Harris is in a position to make the interception.
21:21And truth be told, you know, if you're not battling out there with Kenneth Walker, you should have that.
21:28That should be your football.
21:3047-yard try for Jason Myers.
21:37Good snap and hold.
21:39Myers' kick is good.
21:41And we're all knotted up at three apiece.
21:46Coming up, Cam Ward, a successful opening drive.
21:51Can he stack good on good?
21:53We'll find out when we return to Nashville.
21:57Tied at three after the eight-play 45-yard drive.
22:00Now Seattle kicks off.
22:01They are the best in the NFL at taking advantage of the new kickoff rule.
22:05Well, expected points added is an analytic used on kickoffs.
22:09And they average 2.2 points per game just on their kickoffs.
22:15This will be fielded and then out of bounds.
22:18Juggled at the three.
22:20That will help your EPA.
22:21Basically, what it says is your team, the team that gets the kickoff,
22:26averages 1.6 points per drive if they start at the 35.
22:30If you get it inside the 20, we were talking with Mike McDonald about this.
22:33He said, inside the 20, that's one point for Seattle.
22:37Yes.
22:37One point for Seattle.
22:38So this, I don't know how many points this is.
22:40This is a lot of points.
22:42Now, Chimwe Dike has to make a decision.
22:45Do I let this ball go or do I try to field it?
22:47When you try to field it on the run like that, that's what could happen.
22:50But if it goes into the end zone, it comes out to the 35.
22:54If it lands in front of the end zone and then goes in and out the back,
22:57it comes to the 20.
22:58So you're making the returner make so many decisions
23:02as he's on the fly right there.
23:04That's how they do it.
23:04That's how they challenge you as a returner.
23:07Mike McDonald said, we can't afford to let teams start at the 35.
23:10So we knew we had to kick the ball and play this year.
23:14And on first down, it changes everything you want to do as an offense.
23:19Pollard with a good run up the middle.
23:20This first drive was so effective for Tennessee as well.
23:23They had a good field position to start.
23:24Yeah, it was outstanding.
23:25A little fourth down completion there where they sneak the tight end across.
23:29This is a great play, not just by Cam Ward, but by Chig Okonkwo as well.
23:34And a carryover from last week using those legs.
23:37Hey, go to the next best thing is that using your legs.
23:40Is it throwing the incomplete?
23:42But just be smart with the football.
23:44That's what Cam Ward did on that entire opening drive.
23:47Resulted in a field goal.
23:48Obviously, you want that touchdown, but a great start for the Titans.
23:51And the longest opening drive by time since at least 2000.
23:55Here's Pollard again.
23:56And up the middle, he's met in the hole by Patrick O'Connell.
24:00That guy needs to be playing more football.
24:02Holy cow.
24:06He's been on the practice squad, and he is not happy about it, clearly,
24:09and taking it out on Tennessee.
24:14It's the third punishing hit from O'Connell today,
24:17and the flag looks like it's against the Titans.
24:19If they decline, it'll be third and three.
24:26If they accept, it'll be half the distance.
24:29Personal foul.
24:31Chop block.
24:32Offense, number 13.
24:34The penalties decline.
24:36It's third down.
24:37James Prochet with the chop block.
24:40Here's 13 right here.
24:45So, coming from the inside out, and, yeah, it's that kind of,
24:51they get a little bit gray for me at times, you know, because
24:55those are, that's the way the play's drawn up.
24:59That's the way the blocking's going to happen.
25:00But then, all of a sudden, everybody starts to collide.
25:03It really puts the officials in a tough spot.
25:05One for three on third downs in this first quarter.
25:08All three yards to go or less.
25:10Ward on the run.
25:12Finds an open man, and down the sideline is DK.
25:15A big gain, and out of bounds at the 35-yard line.
25:19He picks up 25 on third and three, and a Titans first down.
25:24Yeah, these guys are doing a nice job coming from that opposite side
25:27and getting into the vision of Cam Ward.
25:30And that was the situation there where I'm like,
25:32oh, boy, you could have just kind of pulled that one down
25:33and got some yards running.
25:34But he hangs in there, finds DK for the catch and run.
25:39It's been an impressive first quarter for Cam Ward
25:41managing this offense out of the gate against one of the top ten defenses
25:44in the National Football League.
25:45Really has been, and I think, well, a flag now.
25:48We've got 12 in the huddle.
25:53There were 12 players in the offensive huddle.
25:56It's a five-yard penalty.
25:58First down.
26:02So that's kind of football 101 right there, right?
26:05If you're coming in on substitution, you've got to make sure before you enter
26:07that huddle that somebody's coming out.
26:12A lot of pre-snap penalty problems last week.
26:16Well, let's see what happens here, right?
26:18Yeah, I mean, we've talked about this.
26:20You know, you can't get behind schedule.
26:21Let's see if the confidence that built up here allows them to get a first down
26:25here off the first and 15.
26:26It's the handoff to Tajay Spears, who reverses his field, finds a little room.
26:32There's a flag down behind the play.
26:34Spears a run of ten.
26:37Well, we'll wait and see about that flag.
26:38Peter Skoranski, and the Titans will back up again.
26:54Down in there, the left guard, Peter Skoranski, going against Leonard Williams.
27:07The push right there, you know, I didn't really see a lot.
27:10You know, a lot of times when you get into that situation,
27:12when you get that separation, you'll actually see that hand,
27:15and it'll have a handful of jersey as that defender tries to separate.
27:18I didn't really see that from Peter Skoranski on that one.
27:21So it'll be first and 25 for the Titans when the second quarter begins.
27:253-3 after one on Fox.
27:30We welcome you back to Nissan Stadium, the home of the Tennessee Titans,
27:34alongside Daryl Johnston with Allison Williams on the field,
27:37Mike Pereira in our studios.
27:39I'm Kevin Kugler.
27:39Good to have you with us on a beautiful afternoon for football
27:42and a good football game through the first quarter.
27:45Tied at three.
27:46Tennessee with their backs against the wall, though.
27:48First and 25 penalties marching them backwards here to start this second quarter.
27:59It'll be Pollard trying to sweep the outside, and Pollard going nowhere.
28:04Big hit that time from Drake Thomas.
28:07They may be down some linebackers, but the ones they have, Moose, are hitting.
28:11Yeah, right?
28:12Yeah, Ernest Jones is out of the lineup, but boy, I tell you what,
28:15Patrick O'Connell and Drake Thomas, you put tape on, and that is tailor-made.
28:21I mean, that is textbook tackling by Drake Thomas right there.
28:25Just the way he comes to balance at the point of contact, the way he finishes the tackle,
28:30and you see that time and time again, even during special teams,
28:33when you're in those open spaces.
28:35Great tackling form.
28:36Yeah, kind of a breakout year for him.
28:38Special teams are, for the most part, in his first couple years in the league.
28:41Ward under pressure.
28:43He finds Pollard, his outlet on the sideline, and Pollard out of bounds near the 25-yard line.
28:49Well, we've got another linebacker for Seattle that's out of this game.
28:53Chaz Surratt, we saw him go into the sideline earlier.
28:56He is out with an ankle injury, so that depletes this linebacker core even further.
29:01Ernest Jones, Tyrese Knight, now Surratt out with the injury.
29:04That's three down.
29:05They brought up O'Connell.
29:07They brought up Jamie Sheriff from the practice squad to try to fill those voids,
29:11and O'Connell got the start today.
29:13And one of the things they'll do is they'll bring in Nick Emanwari down into that box,
29:17and as a safety, we'll kind of become that second linebacker in their dime defense.
29:22They set up the quick screen.
29:24Tajay Spears with blockers in front, trying to find some space.
29:27No, not that way!
29:28He's going the other direction, looking for the sideline,
29:31and he's caught from behind by the aforementioned Emanwari.
29:35You've got to be a Barry Sanders-type guy if you want to do this at the NFL level.
29:45Okay, just look at all those guys from Seattle's defense that are that way,
29:49and they're coming to your side of the football.
29:51And I know you look up and you see a lot of white there, and you're like,
29:54hey, I think I can get out the back door and get around that corner.
29:57Uh-uh.
29:57Not at this level.
29:58These guys are too fast sideline to sideline.
30:01So fourth and seven, and they'll punt it away.
30:03Johnny Hecker to punt.
30:08Rashid Shahid, the deep man for Seattle.
30:14And Shahid from the 14.
30:18Shahid, terrific speed.
30:20Bouncing off one tackle, and Shahid down at the 34-yard line.
30:25So the Seattle offense back to work when we return to Nashville.
30:31Sam Darnold and Jackson Smith in Jigba trying to connect again.
30:36Our producer, Eric Billigmeyer, went for a walk yesterday, pulled out his phone and shot some video.
30:47So we're throwing that out there.
30:50He's very proud of himself.
30:51It's going on his Emmy reel.
30:52Very excited for that.
30:54Nice framing.
30:55Very nice.
30:57First and ten at the 33-yard line.
31:003-3 ball game in Nashville.
31:05Sam Darnold.
31:06It's Jackson Smith and Jigba.
31:09And gets the ankle tackle at the 36-yard line.
31:13For Sam Darnold, he's had a renaissance the last two seasons.
31:15But still some big game blues.
31:17Last year with the Vikings, a rough outing in the season finale against the Lions when the top seed was on the line.
31:22Another tough one in the wild card loss.
31:23Last week, first place on the line, four interceptions.
31:27Otherwise, 21-4 in every other game.
31:34As he lines up with a second and six here.
31:40Play action.
31:42Tight end Arroyo with the catch.
31:45And down close to a first down, about a yard short.
31:48I think the big thing when you talk about Sam Darnold,
31:51if you looked at those scores from last year and then you looked at what the score was last week against the Rams,
31:56the one thing that he has to understand is he's got a great team around him.
31:59We touched on this during the course of the Open.
32:01There's an opportunity for this team to do something special.
32:04When you look at what they can do defensively, how they can run the football,
32:08the explosiveness of Jackson, Smith, and Jigba in that passing game,
32:13the turnover is going to be the one.
32:15The support that he got from his teammates post-game as everybody tried to create that narrative was really cool.
32:19And a flag down as Darnold looks to sneak.
32:22But this is going to be a false start.
32:24So all of a sudden, third and one becomes third and six.
32:29Before the ball was snapped, false start.
32:31Offense number 76.
32:33Five-yard penalty.
32:35Third down.
32:39That's Gray Zabel.
32:40A little step early, and that was enough to draw the flag.
32:49So now third down and six.
32:51Second false start for Seattle.
33:03We talk so much about Jackson, Smith, and Jigba,
33:05but don't forget about that guy right there.
33:07I mean, he's on this Seahawks team.
33:09Not a lot of stats this year, but really a great asset that they've brought in.
33:14Darnold with time going up top for Jackson, Smith,
33:18and Jigba drops it in the bucket, and he will backpedal for a touchdown.
33:25What a throw.
33:27What a catch.
33:29Six on the board from 63 out.
33:32This is what this offense does, and he gets on top of Imani hookers so quickly.
33:39So you've got JSN going up against the safety.
33:42That's what you want.
33:43You're done.
33:43You're in trouble right there.
33:44He's on top of you, and a really good throw, and really well played.
33:48I like the way the hand is up a little bit, but you're not creating OPI.
33:51Just, he's got such a great skill set in all different facets of the wide receiver checklist.
33:5820th catch of 20 yards or more this season for Jackson, Smith, and Jigba.
34:03Extra point makes a 10-3 Seattle.
34:14The Seahawks going up top.
34:17This big play offense with, likely this year, the best wide receiver in the game,
34:23Jackson, Smith, and Jigba giving Seattle a 10-3 lead on the road.
34:29Tenth play of 40 yards or more this season for Seattle.
34:32They're a big play offense, second most in the NFL behind Buffalo,
34:36and we talked about it at the top of the broadcast.
34:38Darrell, they have everything.
34:40The turnovers are the thing that have just held them back.
34:44Certainly last week, it really was the biggest key that prevented them
34:47from knocking off the Rams and being in first place in the division.
34:50And they got a 61-yard field goal.
34:52Now, granted, it's a 61-yard field goal, but you're in a position to win that game
34:56even with the four interceptions.
34:58That's how good this team is.
35:00D.K. at the goal line for Tennessee.
35:06And out of bounds near the 30-yard line.
35:09We talked about those turnovers last week, Allison.
35:12We're going to get to Allison in just a moment.
35:13There's a flag down right at the end of that kick return
35:16that will likely back the Titans up a little bit.
35:19So, Ron Torbert will let us know.
35:27During the return, Golden, number 48 in the return team.
35:31Ten-yard penalty, Tennessee's ball, first and ten.
35:34And Allison, as we were talking about those turnovers,
35:37the team made sure that that didn't become a problem for anybody in the locker room last week.
35:41Yeah, they did.
35:42Ernest Jones had very strong words post-game.
35:44And Demarcus Lawrence told me, hey, we've got to make sure the outside world knows.
35:48We keep our family first.
35:50And we have our quarterbacks back 100%.
35:52I asked Sam Darnold about it.
35:53He said it means a lot.
35:54But honestly, they didn't need to say a word because I know I have their trust.
35:58I know the brotherhood within this locker room.
36:00He said, I just need to be better about going out and doing my job.
36:03Pressure on Ward on first down, able to escape.
36:06And Ward yanked down with a positive gain on a play that looked for sure like it was going to blow up.
36:14And, you know, the interesting thing when you see plays like this from Cam Ward,
36:18his team's got his back, too, just as a rookie.
36:20Yeah, you get beat real quick.
36:22Dan Moore just gets beat, I mean, right off the snap.
36:25And so this play is blown up.
36:27I mean, he's got Derek Hall right in his face before he even gets his back foot planted.
36:33Second and eight at the 17.
36:39They'll run into that blitz, and Pollard is buried.
36:43Tai Okada coming up to make the stop on Pollard, and it'll bring up third and long for Tennessee.
36:50Yeah, I mean, we talk about the ability to get pressure without blitzing,
36:54but this is also, these guys also can trigger things.
36:57You know, you're watching the play develop, and you just see something,
37:00and that triggers you when you go.
37:01And you look at a guy like Drake Thomas, and then you probably had the blitz with Tai Okada coming from the back end.
37:07And now it looks like it's this called blitz, but they're just, it's really good eye discipline
37:12and trusting your instincts by this defense.
37:16Third and eight.
37:16Here comes pressure from Witherspoon.
37:26In trouble as Ward, down he goes.
37:29They brought pressure that time.
37:31Witherspoon from the secondary, and Byron Murphy ends up with the sack.
37:35Yeah, you're going to have five, six people in here, but if you watch that far side,
37:40that's where your drop is going to come.
37:42You're going to get a dropout on the backside, but you're going to add Devin Witherspoon on the front side,
37:46and that's just poor pass protection by Tajay Spears.
37:50I mean, you've got to center up on that, step up, give your quarterback the opportunity
37:55to stand in that pocket and throw the ball, because at that point, it's still five on six.
37:59There's no reason for you to have a guy that free to your quarterback.
38:04So a three and out and a short punch.
38:06Shahid from the 45.
38:07Inside the 35, Rashid Shahid down near the 26-yard line of Tennessee.
38:15Mike Brown on the tackle after the 19-yard return, and Seattle set up on the short field.
38:21Yeah, and here's that third element.
38:23We've talked about the offense and the defense.
38:25We touched on the kickoff a little bit, but you go out and you get Rashid Shahid.
38:28You bring him in at that trade deadline.
38:31Now you've got a very dangerous return man as a punt returner.
38:34So you're just continuing to add all these different elements to this team.
38:39And really, when you look across the NFL and you look at the three phases, offense, defense, and special teams,
38:46I think you'd be hard-pressed to find anybody that's as consistent as the Seattle Seahawks.
38:52Again, it's just can they get that giveaway problem sorted out down the second half part of the season.
38:58Here's Walker.
39:06Tried the jump cut.
39:08Nothing there.
39:09He didn't like what he saw up the middle.
39:11He jumped outside into the arms of Cedric Gray, and it'll bring up second down.
39:15And it's going to be hard to run the football into this defensive front.
39:18I mean, that's the strength of Tennessee is going to be that defensive line and that linebacker level.
39:24But Denard Wilson, the defensive coordinator, again, very similar to what Seattle's running.
39:30Both of those guys, you talk about Mike McDonald, you talk about Denard Wilson, both coming off that Baltimore tree.
39:35There's a lot of similarities in these defenses.
39:38So the offenses are used to practicing against it in training camp and seeing it.
39:42On second down, there's Jackson Smith and Jigba again and a first down to the Tennessee 15-yard line.
39:54Ten more for the talented young wide receiver.
39:58Just watch the wiggle to the outside.
40:00That's how he gets back inside and gets open on the slant route with the outside release.
40:05I mean, he's a very, very good route runner, and one of the great things I see from him, he's so smooth in and out of his breaks.
40:13I mean, he's so fluid.
40:15It's been really, really fun to watch him play this season.
40:17He's really matured.
40:1945 straight games with a catch to begin his career.
40:22He has just been phenomenal.
40:27Boss play Walker.
40:28A lot of tight and blue in front of him, but he got a little bit of that corner, able to get positive yardage down near the 11th.
40:36Cedric Gray ushered him to the sideline, but Walker, with good positive yardage, picks up three.
40:42Yeah, and that's one of the hallmarks of these defenses is, you know, in the run game, when everything gets pushed towards the sideline,
40:50it's the ability for the corners to not just be good tacklers, but to be physical tough guys.
40:55And you'll see that on both sides.
40:56Darryl Baker right there on that last play, he's got to be a little bit better there.
40:59You can't allow Kenneth Walker to give you a little wiggle inside and then break contain and have extra yards down the sideline.
41:05What Jeffrey Simmons tells us, a lot of run defense is just missed tackles.
41:08Yeah.
41:10That's been the problem at times for Tennessee.
41:15Second and six.
41:17Darnold, with time, checks it to Walker.
41:20Walker looking for that first down yardage.
41:24He gets close to the five.
41:27Jalen Armour Davis chasing him out of bounds.
41:30It'll bring up third and short.
41:37Another good opportunity for us as we continue our red zone quest, Kevin, trying to figure out, you know,
41:43what are the big determining factors down here?
41:46I love Clint Kubiak saying, you know, why get the third down?
41:49You know, that creates obvious passing.
41:50The advantage goes to the defense.
41:52So, if you're going to have one, at least it's a short one.
41:55Here's the barnyard.
41:56And there was movement up front.
41:58A.J.
41:58Barner running Seattle's version of the tush push.
42:02They call it the barnyard.
42:04And he got some movement with his cadence.
42:07They're seven for eight this year.
42:09They got stymied last week running their barnyard play.
42:12Neutral zone infraction.
42:14Defense number 53 jumped into the neutral zone and caused an off-start by the offense.
42:19A penalty is half the distance to the goal.
42:21Result for the first down.
42:23Like, no quarterback background, right?
42:25No.
42:25You're my research agent.
42:27You're trying to find out where this came from, right?
42:29Yep.
42:29So, a tight end.
42:30Big physical body.
42:32Yep.
42:32We're going to bring him in to do this.
42:33And now he's developed cadence?
42:35Cadence.
42:36Now he's developed cadence.
42:36I asked Sam Darnold when we talked with him before the game, are you at all worried about
42:41A.J.?
42:41You know, he's starting to get comfortable in that quarterback spot.
42:43He said, Kevin, I've seen how he throws the football.
42:46I'm not the least bit worried about him becoming a quarterback.
42:51Sam Darnold back in at his usual quarterback spot.
42:56First down and goal for Seattle.
42:59Here's Walker buried in the backfield.
43:02Excellent penetration.
43:04Leading the charge was Kevin Winston.
43:06The third-round pick out of Penn State.
43:09A four-yard loss on the play.
43:11Yeah, and a great job here because you're going to see these guys win to the inside.
43:15A little bit of a slant right there.
43:16And there's nowhere for Kenneth Walker to go.
43:19And it's kind of like they pushed him right into that gap that was being filled by Kevin
43:23Winston coming from that safety level.
43:26So, second and goal.
43:30Winston, who was slowed early by a hamstring injury and rehabbing from an ACL last year,
43:34starting to come into his own in that defensive backfield.
43:38Second down and goal.
43:41Cup in motion.
43:42Darnold looking.
43:45Over the middle.
43:46Deflected in the air and incomplete.
43:48Oh, that one hung up, tantalizing those Titans defenders out there.
43:57But it hit the turf.
43:58It'll bring up third and goal.
43:59Yeah, but this is another one, right?
44:01This is something you don't want to do.
44:03You know, there's A.J.
44:03Barner.
44:04We'll follow him.
44:04Oh, I'm sorry.
44:05That's Elijah Arroyo.
44:06So, here comes Barner right there, 88.
44:09That's a tight window.
44:10You can see the defender.
44:11He's already recognized the decision that Sam Darnold has made to throw back across his body
44:16into the middle of the field.
44:17He gets a great jump on the ball.
44:18That was a dangerous throw by Sam Darnold right there with the position that they're in
44:23on the field and the potential for points.
44:26Third down and goal from the seven.
44:28Two for three on third down today.
44:32And we've got a delay of game against Seattle.
44:37Delay of game by the offense.
44:39Five yards, Kennedy.
44:41Go down.
44:42So, now third and goal from the 12.
44:44This is huge for this Tennessee Titans team because with that, that offsides on that third
44:51and short, all of a sudden you're like, oh boy, you know, is the bottom going to fall
44:54out of this one early?
44:55We're going to be at 17-3.
44:57That's a big hole for a team like this to dig out of.
45:00If they can get it to 13-3, keep it at 13-3 here on this third down and goal, that's
45:05a huge stand by this defense after things look pretty shaky there for a while.
45:12Smith and Jigba to the top of your screen.
45:14Kupp and Shahid to the bottom of the screen.
45:18Third and goal from the 12.
45:20Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:22Turns and it's off his fingertips at the two and incomplete.
45:26Darryl Baker on the coverage.
45:28It's fourth and goal and the Titans defense does hold.
45:31Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:32Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:32Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:33Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:34Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:34Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:35Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:36Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:36Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:37Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:38Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:39Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:40Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:41Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:42Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
45:43Darnold looking for Smith and Jigba.
