00:00Hey, my name is Alisa. Today I want to show you how I use a manual breast pump to get milk.
00:08It's honestly super helpful, especially when you need to pump quickly, store some milk for later,
00:13or just relieve pressure if your breasts feel too full. This pump I'm using has a little milk
00:19container and a lever. When you press the lever, it creates suction and pulls the milk out. First,
00:26I place the pump directly on my breast, making sure the flange sits snug around my nipple.
00:31It should feel sealed, no gaps, so it works properly and doesn't hurt. I start by pumping
00:39quickly for a few seconds to get the milk flowing. That helps trigger the letdown reflex. Once it
00:46starts coming out, I slow down the pumping and do deeper, slower squeezes. You'll see the milk
00:51collecting in the container. Sometimes I lightly massage around my breast while pumping. It helps
00:58keep the flow going if it slows down a bit. It doesn't take too long.
01:02Usually after a few minutes, I use the milk to make sure you use the milk. Then I use the milk to
01:20Usually after a few minutes, I can already see a good amount of milk in the container.
01:35If I'm doing both sides, I just switch and repeat the same steps.
01:43Once I'm done, I unscrew the container and pour the milk into a storage bottle or bag.
01:49I label it with the date so I know when I pumped it.
01:52And that's it.
01:53It might feel a little weird at first, but after a few tries it becomes really easy.
01:57Hope this helps.
