At 90, the 'Star Trek' icon becomes the oldest person to leave the globe.

00:00William Shatner has successfully traveled to space.
00:08On Wednesday, the 90-year-old iconic Star Trek actor blasted off into space aboard New Shepard NS-18 of Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin.
00:16This makes him the oldest person to have left the globe.
00:19Shatner was in good spirits before he boarded the ship, and Bezos personally closed the ship's hatch.
00:24Blue Origin shared this video on Twitter.
00:30Shatner said in a drafted tweet that went live once he was in space,
00:41I do not know what I may appear to the world, but to myself, I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore,
00:48diverting myself in now and then, finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary,
00:52whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.
00:56After blasting off at 7.50 a.m. Pacific, the ship successfully returned to Earth just before 8 a.m. Pacific.
01:02Shatner told Bezos while describing the feeling of leaving Earth,
01:05I am so filled with emotion, I am overwhelmed, I had no idea.
01:08Blue Origin's vice president of mission and flight operations, Audrey Powers,
01:12and two crew members were also aboard the Wednesday flight.
