Zatch Bell Review: A boy becomes a Man and a Disastrous Duo

So we got 3 Parts to the Review this go around. Naomi gets to show she's not all bad. We get Introduced to a fan Favorite Danny and Mr.Goldo. And We have our first Tag Team fighters which actually put up a good fight.

00:00Hello everyone, today we will be covering two story arcs.

00:04The first one being a fan favorite character, and the other one being probably one of the

00:10more hated characters in the series.

00:13But first we gotta go through a slice of life chapter.

00:16So I hope you all enjoy, and let's get into it.

00:19We begin with Kyo noticing Zatch is acting different today, with him telling Schneider

00:24that he is going to stand up to Naomi.

00:27And once he gets to the park and begins to confront her, he falls into a trap she made.

00:33And she just walks off with the other kids.

00:36With us briefly cutting to Kyo, seeing that there is a report of a lion escape on the news.

00:41Zatch eventually gets out, but the other kids tell him that Naomi fell off a cliff and is

00:46stuck on the edge of a hill.

00:48And in a cave on that edge is the lion that escaped, and it is not looking good for her

00:54right now.

00:55Zatch tries to help her, but he just ends up getting himself in danger, hanging onto

01:01a branch.

01:02Naomi seeing him ignores the lion and scurries up the cliff grabbing onto Zatch and getting

01:08them both to safety.

01:09And I will say, the way Raikou drew this was hilarious.

01:15And this whole incident just ended up making Zatch feel humiliated and made him want to train

01:21more.

01:22We move to the next day with Kyo seeing a famous sculptor is coming to Japan and getting Zatch

01:27excited to see it.

01:28We then see it being transported by a new Momodo and book holder pair.

01:33Danny, the Momodo, and Mr. Goldo, the man who made the sculpture.

01:38And Goldo...whenever he talks to Danny always prefaces his name with boy, since in all essence,

01:45he is still a child.

01:47He tells him to go get some snacks to pass the time, but he ends up running into Zatch.

01:53And we do find out that Zatch cannot sense the Momodo at all.

01:57Danny thinks he is there to fight him, but Zatch explains that he got lost and he wants

02:02to see the statue that Danny is protecting.

02:05So, they walk back together.

02:08They come back to find that it has been stolen, with them having no way of tracking it until

02:13Zatch pipes up, saying that he can track it using his nose.

02:19They find the ship the thieves are hiding at, and decide to go in by themselves since the

02:25cops would scare them off.

02:27With Zatch leaving a message for Kyo to come to the pier.

02:31They ambush them, with Danny taking them on by himself.

02:35We see him easily dodge bullets and starts to take them out, one by one.

02:41But once they aim for Zatch and Goldo, Danny uses his body to protect them.

02:46Which lets us see that Danny's spell causes him to heal all his wounds instantly, making

02:52him nearly impossible to take down.

02:54But one of the criminals manages to get close to Goldo and forces Danny to stand down.

03:01So, Goldo basically tells him to get the job done and to not care about his life since

03:07the sculpture is more important, but Danny can't bring himself to sacrifice him like

03:12that.

03:13Luckily, Kyo arrives, casting a spell and taking out the rest of the thieves.

03:18On their way back, they get into a car crash with a giant stone column about to crush the

03:23car.

03:24But Danny stops it because the sculpture is still in the car, so tells Kyo and Zatch to

03:30destroy it, but by doing so they will also set his book on fire that's still in the car.

03:37They agonize over it, but they end up destroying the pillar.

03:42As his book burns, Goldo uses one last spell to heal him and tells him he is proud of him,

03:48since he got the job done.

03:50And that he is no longer a boy and should feel proud of what he has done, with him finally

03:56disappearing and Goldo thanking him for the time they had.

04:00And now moving on to the final arc in this video, we come into two new partner teams,

04:06Lupa and Papi Puryo, along with Hige and Zoberon.

04:11They fight each other, and they both scare each other enough to make them team up, believing

04:17by working together they will be able to beat anyone.

04:21We cut over to Zatch and Kyo going to an amusement park, with Zatch getting mad he is too short

04:27to get on some of the rides.

04:29With Puryo being the same way, but he commands Rupa to cast a spell at it.

04:35Seeing this, Kyo of course interrupts her and runs off to lead them somewhere else.

04:41He of course gives them an out by leaving the park, but they refuse and hit them with

04:46a spell.

04:47It didn't seem to do anything, but the other pair show up and attack, but their attack is

04:52super slow, so they easily dodge it.

04:56Kyo not feeling too stressed about this match, soon sees that the spell Puryo used glued

05:04Zatch to the ground, and the slow moving spell is coming at them.

05:09They manage to dodge by slipping Zatch's feet out of his shoes and start taking the

05:14fight seriously, now seeing how dangerous their opponents are.

05:19But Rupa and Puryo charge them, knocking the spell block out of Kyo's hand and getting

05:23another spell off on Zatch.

05:26Kyo seeing how they work together, fires off a spell into the air while the enemy thinks

05:31he is going crazy, so fire off an even stronger spell than before that tracks them as they

05:37move.

05:38They block it with Arashirudo, but the spell is so strong it breaks it, so Hige casts it

05:45again with more heart power.

05:48Zatch then collapses saying his entire body feels numb, Kyo realizing the spell Puryo hit

05:54Zatch with was some kind of poison, and things are not looking too good for our heroes.

06:01But then they are saved by Tia and Megumi arriving, protecting them since they are supposed to meet

06:07them here at the park.

06:09They were able to get here in time because they saw the lightning from the spell they

06:13launched in the air before.

06:15They try to go for the rushdown attack again, but Tia just chokes the hell out of Poppy and

06:21Megumi actually slams Rupa to the ground.

06:24Seeing that didn't work, they switch to the opposite sides of them, casting spells thinking

06:30they can't protect themselves from all sides.

06:33But they do with Megumi casting Sayosiru.

06:36After they block the spells, Tia vents her frustration since she was the one that planned

06:42the whole day and throws an attack.

06:45With Hige blocking it, using Puryo as a human shield.

06:49Tia then charges them and surprises them by having Zatch stuck to her back because they

06:54used Puryo's glue spell remnants to do so.

06:58Hige seeing they are going to get hit again, reaches for Puryo, but Rupa stops him and uses

07:05him as a shield instead, getting them both hit.

07:08Puryo starts to get emotional and frustrated that they may lose, causing them to awaken

07:14a new spell.

07:15But Hige is of course mad at them, and while they are bickering, Zatch and Tia fire spells

07:22at them, finishing the fight.

07:24Oberon got her spellbook burned, but Rupa managed to protect hers and uses the new spell, which

07:31was basically a smokescreen to let them escape.

07:35And for the rest of the day, Kyo, Zatch, Megumi, and Tia have a fun day at the amusement park,

07:41with the funny height gag happening again since Tia is too small.

07:46With everyone having fun and we find out that Tia is developing a crush on Zatch, and hopes

07:52he enjoys the bento box she made for him.

07:55And later in the day, Kyo asks if he liked it, and Zatch being the simple kid he is just

08:02says he likes Yellowtail better, ending the arc.

08:06Alright, onto the extras.

08:09For the original volume 8, we get Zatch and Tia on the cover, and on the back, we get Purio

08:15and Rupa.

08:16Then for an extra page, we see Rupa at a grave, crying, holding a child's picture, with Purio

08:22seemingly trying to comfort her.

08:25Chapter 63, we get a few images of Zatch when he is being bullied by Naomi.

08:31Chapter 64, we have Schneider posing so Zatch can draw a portrait of him.

08:36Chapter 65 is just a full page image of the group arriving at the ship the thieves are

08:41in, and chapter 67 is Zatch and Kyo in the little toy cars, which Kyo seems to be a little

08:48too big for.

08:49Now going over everything, I think this will be the last time Naomi will have a major appearance

08:55in the series, if my memory serves me right.

08:59And I would say she goes off on a pretty good note in saving Zatch and showing she doesn't

09:04completely hate him.

09:06And I am sure she would get some enjoyment from knowing that Zatch felt humiliated after

09:11all of this.

09:12Then moving on to our boy, Danny, who is apparently a fan favorite that I kinda get, but for me

09:18he is a mid-tier character since we did not have a lot of time with him.

09:23He is extremely strong, being able to kick in a metal door and to fight back against people

09:29with guns.

09:31And even though he gets riddled with bullets, that still does not kill him and all he has

09:36to do is have Goldo cast a spell to have him back to his prime status.

09:41Even with having one spell, he would be somewhere in the mid-tier of Mamoto because he could definitely

09:48defeat Papi Poro or Zoberon's teams one on one.

09:53Speaking over Mr. Goldo, he was a good partner compatibility wise, basically being like a

09:59grandfather to Danny and trying to instill good values into him.

10:04But as a partner, to become king, he was not that good because it seemed like they never

10:09trained to become stronger since they still only have one spell.

10:15And Goldo himself is an old man, which is not that good for fighting or taking hits in battle.

10:22But overall, they had a nice short story of Danny finally getting acknowledged to be

10:27a man because he made sure to do his job till the end.

10:32And I think I cried when I watched this as a kid, but I could be mistaken.

10:37Like I said, I understand his popularity, but he is just not for me.

10:43Next team is Hige and Zoberon, who are definitely not the most intimidating pair, but pack a decent

10:50amount of power.

10:52With their first spell being pretty slow, probably only good if you have the opponents cornered.

10:58And their second being faster and stronger, with the ability to track the opponent, but

11:03still is slow, leaving time for the opponent to counter.

11:07With their bond not seeming to be that good either, with him having her on a rope leash.

11:15And they were correct that teaming up together was the right move.

11:21Since Purio has no damaging spells, but can immobilize an opponent, while Zoberon hits them with a slow-moving spell.

11:28Out of the two, I would honestly say Purio and Rupa are the better team.

11:32It's just that they have no offense or defense, and just rely on status effect moves.

11:40We even saw that they surpassed them in their bond by awakening another spell and

11:46managing to get away.

11:48Okay, next is Tia and Megumi, who performed excellently in their battle.

11:52Using their shield spells correctly every time as needed, and like usual,

11:57their only fault was that they don't have enough offense to do any real damage to their opponents.

12:03Which makes teaming up with Zatch and Kiyo a good match, since their partnership is more balanced in their spells.

12:27Then at first, I thought that Tia was having a crush on Kiyo, but as we saw in the last chapter,

12:35she may have been using that as an excuse to get closer to Zatch, who she actually is starting to have feelings for.

12:41Finally, with Zatch and Kiyo, there is not much for me to talk about with them,

12:46since they were just doing their thing for the most part in these chapters.

12:50We saw Zatch was able to match the strength of Dany, which is impressive since we saw what he can do in later chapters.

12:58And we saw another example of Kiyo's intelligence signaling Tia and Megumi,

13:04along with the surprise strategy of sticking Zatch onto Tia's back to keep him mobile.

13:10Overall, everything was pretty good.
